Junior Ski to Sea parade!

Each May Bellingham has this giant race called ski to sea. It has seven legs and is crazy hardcore! It starts at Mt. Baker with a cross country ski. The skier tags off to a downhill skier who tags off to a runner. The runner tags the road biker who tags the canoers. The canoers tag the mountain biker who finally tags the kayaker who finishes the race....wow! All that is to say there are all kinds of festivities surrounding the race....the parade being one of them. Willa and her preschool have the privilege to start the parade.
The theme Of the parade is "Bellingham in Bloom". Here we are...all dressed up and ready to roll!
Willa was sooo excited to see her classmates!
All lined up and ready to go!

Leading off the parade... Willa is the red wings on the right.

Adlai wasn't so sure at first but she got into it by the end... Yelling hi'ya and waving. We kept hearing people say "Look at that little flower waving"! So cute!

Skipping along!

I had to get a close up of her wings....she decorated them herself!

More marching!

...and a little running, too!

Stopping to watch the rest of the parade...love the middle school marching bands!

Loading up the car and she's still waving at the crowd!

A spot o tea...

Bret headed back east for a few days for his Nanas memorial service so, the girls and I spent family fun Friday with our dear friends (and like family) Ann Marie and Olivia. We had a girls luncheon at the Abbey Tea Garden.

Heading to lunch

A little group pose by the sign

Look at all the fun stuff in there!

Cheers!

So excited!

Ten minutes is a long time to wait for their special "cream" tea. The server brought them cream soda in a tea pot with a bowl of ice cubes instead of sugar cubes...so cute! They didn't know the difference!

Preparing their tea!

I love this picture! Having a lovely conversation enjoying their tea!

Mothers Day Celebrations

We had sort of an all weekend mothers day celebration. We started on Friday. With a bike ride and picnic on Lummi island and ended on Sunday with a nice lunch out and a bike ride!
Adlai all snacked up and ready to roll!
Waiting for the ferry
Adlai usually rides in her bike seat on Bret's bike so the trailer was a fun change
The ferry ride
Collecting rocks at the beach
Taking in the view
it's a good thing this isn't a sandy beach! The rocks make it more challenging to get to the water!
Mangos...yum!
Collecting more rocks on a walk
Leah and her girls!

Bret and Adlai lounging...catching some vitamin d!
Willa thought the breeze was a bit cool... she just wanted an excuse to cuddle! Who needs an excuse?
Taking some time to take in the view!
Checking out the alpacas on the ride home...
What a pretty ride!
Waiting for the ferry home...
All tuckered out!
Heading home...what a fun day!
Lunch on the patio at Boundary Bay! We are triple celebrating... Mothers day, Bret's raise and Adlai successfully staying in the nursery during church!
What a cutie!
Mama and her girls
In our family we take transportation safety very seriously... Be it scooter, bike or...goat we always wear a helmet!
Now this is the way to go!
