Thanks Amanda!!!

So as most people know I absolutely LOVE searching through Splitcoaststampers (where I am known as Stampinsilvia) for ideas! Well I have also made some friends along the way, one of them is Amanda Sewell and she sent me this super cute card with an elzebell image, great card Amanda! Also, I was browsing through Amanda's gallery one day and saw this cute little card here! And I asked her for some images if she could spare them... and I really don't know how long ago that was, but yesterday in the mail I got a package, one I was NOT expecting and had NO idea who it was from! So I opened it up and she had written me a nice little note appologizing for not sending them sooner, hey it was an AWESOME suprize, I had totally forgotten all about asking for the images!!!
Anywho, the images are by a stamp company called magnolia (Be forewarned, it's all in German!) and I can not wait to color them and make some pretty cards with them! I have already picked the one I want to use on Bella's 1st birthday card...her birthday isn't until May!!! Thanks again Amanda! She also has a blog so drop by and say hi! Inkspirations.
I will hopefully be back to my regular schedules blogging tomorrow with a Tuesday's teacher!
So help us get to 1000 posts by January 7th so that I can get you some YUMMY blog Candy!

A Manly Man's card!

uggg ugg ugg I can almost hear Tim the tool man Taylor grunting! I really like how this card turned out, although the eyelets are not this bold in real life! I like how the deer is peeking out and how the tree's are all around him, but there is penty of roo doe a sentiment. I just had to use ribbon eventhough it's a man's card, but I don't think it's overpowering! This card was made for my brother-in-laws dad who we will be celebrating his 60th birthday (shhhhh! it's a secret!) I know he loves to hunt and they live out in the country and have lots of tree's near their property, so I thought the stamps were fitting! I appologize in dvance if I misscolored the deer or if that's not even a deer, I'm not too familiar with the types of antelerd things, but I do think they are very cute! On the inside it reads, "Life is not a matter of countin years, it's a matter of making years count."

Supplies:

Stamps: Lovely as a tree, it's your birthday, warmest reguards, wild life reserve Flannel Background stamp

ink:stazon Timber brown, garden green, chocolate chip classic and craft (for sponging)

Paper:Shimmery white, chocolate chip

Accessories: 5/8 grossgrian ribbon, earth elements eyelets, crop-a-dial, sponge

Bali Beautiful!

So everyone knows that the new catalog is in my happy little hands, but so are some fab stamps from the catalog pre-view brochure! I haven't had much time to stamp lately, 3 kids and a horrible cold sure can keep a girl down! I managed to sneak into the disaster of a stamp room today and actually made a card!!! I love the new papers and stamps, ohhh and did I mention the rub ons??? yum!!! This is a regular sized card (5.5x4.25) and I used shimmery cardstock as the base, then added a little bit of the new scrumptious bali beeze paper (2x5.5 to be exact) and used the small corner rounder without the guard to make scallops (don't know how to do that? Come back on Tuesday for a tutorial!) and used the 1/16th hand held punch to make holes. Next I used a sponge that I cut into sections and inked up with tempting turquoise and sponged the edges of the Designer paper. For the main image I used a 3inch square of tempting turquoise card stock, a 2 7/8 square of appricot appeal (looking closely now, I should of probably used goorvey guava instead, but hey I still like it!) and then I used a 2 5/8 square of certainly celery followed lastley by a square of 2.5 wisper white for the main image. (Now I know this sounds like a lot of card stock, but I used only scraps, so I was being resorceful! LOL) As for stamping, there really wasn't a lot t it! I stamped the main image flower with appricot appeal and the sentiment in tempting turquoise, added the rub-on to the flower and the ribbon to the card and that's all she wrote! I hope you like this card! The rub-ons are great, super easy to use and I just love their versatility!

Supplies: All SU! unless otherwise stated!

Stamps: A beautiful thing

ink: Appricot Appeal, tempting turquoise

paper: shimmery white CS, tempting turquoise, appricot appeal,

certainly celery cs. Bali Breeze Designer paper

Accessories: 1/16th corner rounder, 1/16th circle punch,

sponge, rectangle hand held punch, ub-ons

SOOO VERY BUSY!

So hubby is a fire fighter and every 2 weeks he gets 3 days off..YEAHHHHHH... But on those days that he is off, I always seem to find myself a little off schedule, so needless to say I didn't get much stamping done today! I am working on a little project though and when I'm done I will show it to you! It is super super cute, but I must say that I copied the idea from someone else...it is not my own, but still cute and totally worth sharing!

In the mean time I will share a little project I have made using coasters, they are so much fun to work with and they make the cutest projects! For this pen holder I used 7 coasters and a whole lot of designer paper (okay, maybe only a couple sheets!) and Mod Podge...I loe this stuff! Any ways I hope you like it and maybe someday I will post a tutorial on how to make these little cuties! Have a great day and I wish you a happy Day!

Tuesday's Teacher

Hi there and welcome back to Tuesdays Teacher! Here is todays verse.

He (Jesus) went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. Mark 1:35

Gosh, where do I begin with this scripture! In todays world of go go go, meetings, deadlines, for me as a stay at home mom I struggle with a house to clean, babies to feed, clothes to wash... where do we have time to squeeze in the Lord? I know I have issues with this! I have tried to get up early and commit to reading the bible and praying, but being I am more of a night owl than a morning person, this really didn't work for me. So whats next, I know I can't find a moment of quiet when the kids are awake! So I have now pushed my quiet time with my God, my personal Lord and Savior, my BEST friend to right befor I go to bed. But really am I being a good best friend? With this busy time of year, the extra Christmas cheer, and overwhelming urgency to get everything PERFECT I have noticed that I have been skimping out on the most important person in my life. I am not being the friend that I need to be, and it makes me sad that I am putting Him last instead of first. I need to commit to spending more time with Him and less time making life about me! So here is my challenge to you, I challenge you to forget about wrapping toys, watching your favorite tv show, stamping, whatever your enjoyment might be, and I want you to spend that time that you have set aside for yourself and give it to your Savior! I know he would appreciate it, he is infact the reason we are celebrating this month...why not give Him the ONLY present he would ever ask for...YOURSELF...ALL of you! Enjoy your quiet time and know that everything else will wait for you!

Tutorial #2 Laminate Countertop Ornaments
These ornaments are SUPER easy. Here are the supplies you will need to get started

Supplies: all supplies are SU! unless otherwise stated. Laminate Counter top sample (I got mine at Lowe's), spray adhesive (elmors) , card stock (I'm using wild wasabi and real red) , stamps (baroqu Motifs and holidays and wishes) , versamark pad, embossing powder (I used Iridescent Ice), heat gun, paper trimmer, 1/4 inch hole punch, ribbon

First you will want to trim your Wild Wasabi CS to 2x2 3/4 inches and your real red cs to 2x7/8 inches (this is a great project to use up those scraps!)

Next you will want to stamp any images on the card stock that you desire

and now you are ready to make it sprakle! Cover the whole thing with Versamark ink and then add the iridecent ice EP, heat set with the heatgun

And finally, use the 1/4 inch hole punch and tie a ribbon through to hand...embelish any way you want, and hang it on your tree! Or you can be nice and give it to someone on your list! With all those holiday parties make sure you have a bunch on hand, these are great for hostess gifts!

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. When you have created one, please upload it to your blog or SCS gallery and use key word MSTT02. Have a blessed day and remember your quiet time with the Lord, he's waiting for you!

Stuffing, stamping, wrapping, trying....

OKay so yesterday was en extremely action filled day! Jason and Denise (friends from church) are getting married on the 21st of this month and I am making theier wedding favors for them...all 100! So the tins arrived yesterday and they brought the candy by today and so David, Mela and I stuffed all the tins while Isabella took a nap (they are such great little helpers!). Then I stamped a snowflake on the clear window of the tins (you must use stazon ink, I used the white stazon) and wrapped them with Stampin' up! Cerise paper. After that I tied a nice knot on all of them with SU! 5/8 grosgrain ribbon in ivory. once that was done I adhered a little tag with their initial and another snowflake stamped on it (this time it was a silver snowflake) I think they turned out super cute and I will be giving ALL 100 to them at church today... I hope they like them and may they have a long and loving marriage! I have LOVED making these for them... if you need wedding favors or party favors let me know, I'm your gal! Here are some pictures of the tins...some are upclose and one of the whole thing!

Cookie Contest and ooppsss'

Okay so yesterday at Church we had our second annual cookie contest and I was making the prizes, they consist of an appron with the church initials, year and catagory that you won in. Anyways I was stamping them (with Craft ink!) and was looking and looking and thought to myself...gee something doesn't look right! So I called my friend Dana and asked her how to spell original and she told me and I say uhhh ohhhh, I think I spelled it wronf on the apron! Sure enough I added an O where the shouldn't be one! Ohh well I always say that I'm not an American so I have an excuse and moved on. We came up with a great solution to my mistake too! So what do you think? It's "Origional" right?
Now here is how I packaged up the prizes...don't they look festive? This year the prize was a golden spatula award, as well as an ornament for the tree and of course the apron, so you don't get dirty next year making more cookies! ( I got the aprons at ACMoore by the way!)

And here are the winners! Thanks to all that participated, I had a lot o fun! I can't believ that I won!!!! And I know that the folks at the nursing home will LOVE getting these as a special treat!
From left to right: Maria and Haley (grand Champion) Erin and kids (most Festive) ME!!! and Bella (Best Traditional), Lane Kids (BestOrigional) They will forever get a good laugh at me and my BAD spelling!
Thanks to all that participated...what a blast!

BTW, when you are stamping on clothing with the craft ink, please be sure that after they are dry, stick them in the dryer for about 20 minutes so that the ink can set...after that you can wash as normal! I will be posting more stamping on clothing soon! It just looks so cute and you can personalize anything!!!

So you are probably wondering what the categories are for the cookie contest right? Well thanks to the Awesome Nikki, one of my dear friends and downline ( I borrowed the idea from her, she does this annually at her house!!!)
Grand Champion- best cookie of the night

Most Festive- usually based on display and fetiveness of the cookie

Best Traditional- you know your chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, ginger snaps, sugar cookies, things like that
Most Original- unique cookies
Thanks For looking and don't foeget to enjoy your Christmas season with your loved one!

Another quick card!

Okay, I know there isn't much time left before Christmas, but I am a firm believer that there is still time to make your cards!!!! Even if they are a little late, at least you can get them in tha mail!!! So here is another quick card for you, I went a little non-traditional with the colors but it works for me! I love snowflakes and was a little bummed when the snowflake set retired last year, but I must say that I am very very pleased with this one. I love the dainty little spots that combined form this awesome flake... Here are the details on how it's made...not that you need many!
Supplies:
Stamps: Snowplake spot, wonderful words
Paper: shimmery white
ink: craft Pink Passion, silver, craft chocolate chip
accessories: sheer white ribbon

And now on a more personal note! I have noticed that I have not been sharing my computer screen well! I have posted pics of the other kids and hubby, but not my sweet little Mela! Well I just had to share with you this absolutely AMAZING picture I took of her back in August! My awesome sister got married to a super great guy on the 25th of August and this picture was taken the day before the wedding I do believe...we were picking up her wedding dress and Mela, being the girly girl that she is, just had to try on a vail too. Doesn't she just look sooo beautiful! I sometimes look at her and think that she can't possibly get any cuter, and then she smiles! I love her curly hair and her infectious smile and belly laugh. It's amazinf what God can create from the love two people share! She just makes me smile! Unless of course she is hitting her big brother...LOL So this is Mela...just before she at 21 months!

Happy Stampin' Everyone!

Cards, Cookies, and baby firsts!

OKay so today has ALREADY been a busy day! My sister calls me yesterday and tells me that she needs 50 Christmas cards...UHHHH OKAY!!! I'm up for the challenge!!! Especially since she doesn't really care what I make for her! Thanks sissy for letting me have creative freedom!!! So here is one of the designs I have made for her...10 down!!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Holidays and wishes, Reindeer Greetings (retired)
Paper: Old olive, real red, very vanilla, dashing designer series paper
ink: stazon black, versamark
accessories: real red grosgrain ribbon, gold embossing powder, heat gun

So at church this Friday night we are having our second annual cookie contest, with prizes and of course LOTS of cookies! Last year I didn't make any since I was in charge, well this year I'm in charge again, but decided to go ahead and make some anyways...my favorite cookies are Snickerdoodles, so you know thats what I made! I doubled my recipe and now have 10 dozen cookies...cookies anyone??? I guess I will just have to give some to the UPS man (Mitch) when he comes by tomorrow!!! I can't wait to see what everyone else came up with! I'm a little nervous though, there is a 12 year old girl who is making 6 dozen cookies of 3 different kinds! That's 18 DOZEN cookies!!!!! WOW, her name is Hannah and she is such an inspiration! Not only is she wanting to give to the community (we are donating some of the cookies to the nursing home) but she is also very very very smart and knows her Bible better than most people...including me! Thanks Hannah for being such a blessing in my life!!!
ISN'T SHE CUTE!!!

And last but not least, our baby ( Bella) is growing up!!! No matter how hard I tried to not let that happen, it's happening! Right before my eyes even! She is almost 7 months (will be on Sunday the 16th) and we started giving her food yesterday!! She had smashed Bannanas, and boy did she LOVE them! It was a whole family event, everyone took turns feeding her, the kids thought it was great that she was eating real food and sisn't even have any teeth yet! LOL She even wanted to hold the spoon herself...what a big girl she is turning out to be! Why do kids have to grow up so fast???

Tuesdays Teacher

Okay ladies (and gents if there are any out there!) This is my very first EVER Tuesdays teacher and so I would like to explain it a bit to you! For those of you that don't know me, I am a Christian and a firm believe that you must get to know the word of God to grow closer to him, so I am planning to post a bible verse and some food for thought every Tuesday, followed by a tutorial on a stamping project or technique. I love the Lord and I hope you will get a blessing from the verses that are touching me, but most importantly, I pray that they may touch a part of you that yearns to be closer to God and have a more meaningful relationship with Him. It is important to ready ourselves for the Lord and his second comming. So now that you know a little about Tuesday's Teacher, I pray that you will come back regularly and look forward to what they Lord hasd in store for you!

So here we go!

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:7

One of the most difficult aspects of prayer is to keep silent and wait patiently for God. It is He who is directing your time of prayer in the days ahead and you can open yourself to renewal as His spirit come to you in the quiet times of a still heart. If you have not yet had your quiet time with God this morning, I encourage you to take a moment and thank Him fo all that you have and all that you are, especially at this busy time of the year, when truly it is all about HIM.

Okay, now for the tutorial! I know with this crazy time of the year we just want to be able to have some goodies to give our friend and neighbors that doesn't cost a lot of money or take too much time, so here is a quick little idea that is perfect for the neighbors, co-workers and friends!

Supplies:one sheet of 12x12 designer paper, adhesive, rectangle tin, chocolate nuggets, adhesive, ribbon, paper trimmer, ink and a stamp set of choice, scissors, 1/4 inch circle punch, scrap of neutral card stock

Step one: Cut 4 strips of designer paper into 1 x 12 pieces, then cut those into 1x 3 1/4 strips (12 are needed)

Next you will want to wrap each nugget with the designer paper and place them in the tin.

Once you have wrapped all the nuggest and placed them in the tin, you will use more of the designer paper and cut a 3x12 inch strip. YOu can now wrap and secure it around the tin.

For this part, I used a scrap of shimmery white cardstock, but you can use whatever you would like. I used my Label classics stamp set (which is retiring soon!) and my craft red ink, although craft ink takes longer to dry, I love the richness if it and the fact that you can emboss with it!, and I used stazon black in. I then cut around the scallops and used my 1/4 inch circle punch and punched a hole, threaded some ribbon and you are done!

You are now DONE! The ornament you see I made with the remaining paper. Just run it through a paper shredder and crumple it up, place inside a clear glass ornament and tie a ribbon around it! All you need is a card and you are good to go!

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and if you have any ideas, suggestions of requests for a specific tutorial, please be sure to leave me a comment! I would love to see your creations, so when you have finished yours, please publish it to your blog or upload it to your gallery and leave me a comment so I can go and check it out! If you place it in your SCS gallery, please use keyword MSTT01 (Mabie Stampin Tuesdays Teacher 01). Have a blessed day!

What it's really about!

Just wanted to share with you a little pocket card that I made using the Stampin' Up! Stamp set called Baby Jesus is Born. I absolutely *HEART* this set. It is the true meaning of Chirstmas and why we should be greatful for what we are given. I had to get this set just because I thought it was extremely adorable and very child like, and the bible states that we have faith as a child!
P.S. This is a pull out pocket card!

Supplies:

Stamps:Baby Jesus is Born, star is from an unknown set I borrowed from a friend, swirly wheel

Paper: Wild Wasabi, purely pomegranate, shimmery white, bashful blue
Inks: Wild wasabi, purely pomegranate, craft chocolate chip, stazon black

Accessories: blue taffeta ribbon, square punches, 1/16 corner rounder, white gel pen

Now, I hope you have been enjoying my blog because starting tomorrow I have something very special planned! I am hoping that every Tuesday I will be able to post a tutorial for you to enjoy! I will be calling it Tuesday's Teacher, full of pictures and step by step instructions on how to complete a specific project. If you have a project you would like me to feature on here, please leave me a comment and I will see what I can do! Thank you sooo much for looking, I think we are going to have a wonderful time together!

Have an awesome day and as always,

A time of cheer, a time of glee...

a time of mass producing for me!!! I am in the process of making our Christmas cards this year and with 3 kids, making 100 wedding favors for a wedding and keeping up with clothes, dishes, cleaning, and being a good wife, mom, and friend, I still need to make my Christmas card. Sothis year we are going one layer, but still beautiful! This set is called Solemn Stillness by Stampin' Up! and I think it's absolutely GORGEOUS!!! So easy to make a beautiful card with it! I have stamped all the three's and the insides, all that's left now is the embossing! I hope you like them as much as I do! I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I made some tall and some wide. I hope you like them!
Supplies:
Stamps: Solemn Stillness
Cardstock: Shimmery White...thats it!!!
Ink: Wild Wasabi, versamark

And now on a personal note, isn't it great that kids get so excited over the smallest things! This is a picture of our dear son David...he's 3.5 and he LOVES Buzz LIghtyear...so we got a new blender the other day and he has been watching Buzz non stop lately and NEEDED as he told me a helmet...Mommy and her craft and rubber scissors to the rescue!!! I cut off the flaps and a circle for his face and that's all she wrote! His face is dirty from lunch and he has Oreo in his teeth, but isn't he the cutest! I love little this little man! I can not wait to see what God has in store for him as he grows! As always, thanks for looking and

A little card

Okay, since we have gotten that first post down with no problem, I thought I would share the picture from my banner and give you a little more info about it! The card was created with the new Hostess Level 3 from Stampin' Up's new upcoming catalog (Jan 2, 08 release). SU! sent us demonstrators this amazing set for FREE, just to thank us for being their demos. Being in the "in" crowd really has its perks (ask me how you can be a demonstrator!) I also used a release from the last catalog and one of my current favorite sets Baroque Motifs, this set is soooo versatile! As for the paper, I used Shimmery white cards stock and purely pomegranate, loving that color! Inks: purely pomegranate, appricot appeal, and stazon timber brown. I first made an ATC (artist trading card, they are all the rage right now) and then incorporated that into a full size card. This was one of my first attemts at an ATC, but I really enjoyed making it... I acutally enjoyed making it so much that I made 2 others, will show you these at another time!
