Second year - Forum 2

Colour and context

Making my own Compass.
first 20 paper models:

Choosing the Topic and making the finale piece....

Creating a CONCEPT design
Something u can hide behind, cover up when needed, but after a while easy and interesting to pill off, layer after layer.
(knitting and felting).
Made from 2 pieces of metal wires, cover with fabric layers, can be use separate or together to create more intimacy and lightning to the person inside.

After that- i made a process book of my fears- and how i will overcome it with my own compass...

Department- first semester MOBILITY

FOOD ON THE MOVE
designing a new product to carry your food on a certain moment.
i decided to focus on CAMPING. and creatining a coolong bag system that would be also a part of a vest.
the vest have a specific pockets for carry food on the body and the coolong bag can be added as well in case on extra food you need to take (in case of more then a few hours day trip).
the colours and shape designed for women (especially because of my own experience when it's too heavy and uncomfortable- we give it to the guys to carry....then- no more, from now on we can do it ourself!)

the first sketches;

Open.....Close.
The fabrics and materials was one of the most important things for me while making the product.

After some research and comparing qualities, prices and concidering the environment i made the bag and the vest mainly from;

Recycled Cotton & Linen (which is also great fabric using humid- hot summers).

Market 2

Drawing class. "It's not about you".

Point of Reflection
Topic- Africa.
I focused on Congo as a representative of the third world countries.

01. Republic of the Congo (GDP – per capita: $300)

Republic of the Congo in Central Africa is the last at the bottom of the economic heaps. Depreciation of Franc Zone currencies, incredibly high levels of inflation in 1994, eruption of the civil war, and continuation of armed conflict and slumping oil price in 1998 broke down the economy of the country.

the research i did on the subject lead me to the understanding of the poor and heavy life the people who lives there experience every day! i choose to narrow down the subject so it would fit in 7 weeks lessons. The point of the class was to develop a product.
to make things a bit simple i will describe my way of working in the next page;

making the product- only with Rice, Lavender and cotton.
Hand- made and easy to heat.

Inspired from the Authentic African body decoration i made a few different pieces of those heating bags, so it will be easy to attach on, design and helpful for aching Muscle.

Most of the beautiful fabric i got from Vlisco, an African Fabric factory that located in Holland.

LAB 2- Plastic

Creating a new material

i focused on a few different material and topics.
the first one was layers- using EPOXY.

after a while working with the toxic plastic, i decided to focus on other option that would be a bit more environmental friendly and also....better for my breathing ;)

Latex. topic- Earth. Sand dunes,mountains and surfaces.

My finale pieces were made from BIO-PLASTIC which i created  my self .
using only natural ingredients that will be easily dissolve into the ground by water alone. the topic was; Bio-plastic PIGMENTS.
using- food, drinks, seeds, powders and liquids  from nature.
