Chicken or the egg?

I say chicken because via evolution an animal would probably have evolved into a chicken prior to laying an egg.

Well...technically, enough evolution would have produced an animal that would have laid an egg that would have hatched into the first chickens that would inbreed and create more chickens until they created the current "perfect" evolutionary chickens.
