Meeting Bentlie!!

The kids were very excited to meet their new baby brother. They got to come just a couple hours after he was born. They thought that was pretty cool. They wanted to take him home and were disapointed that they had to wait. they were getting very done with having mom and baby Bantlie in the hospital. they were very sad when we ended up staying an extra week. but that made it even more exciting when we finally made it home. Grace wasn't sure about him at first and had a couple ruff weeks, but now she is a very goo and protective big sister.

8-10-10

Okay, now that that didn't work, we're looking for great things about 8-10-10. So far we know it's Austin's birthday; and Grandma Joyce's dog, Sheena's, birthday; and Bentlie will be Grandpa & Grandma Bassett's 10th grandson. And after all, if Bentlie is born today it will be a great day!

They had me on low level pit all night and bumped it up incrementally all morning. Russ had pity on me and stayed with me, even though he had workshops today. I'm sure he'd rather be here than at workshops anyway. I didn't sleep very well (imagine that)!

Grandma Joyce came in early. Grandma B got the kids ready and off to daycare this morning and said something about, "I don't know how Kristie does it." She got here a little before noon. Russ and I watched a movie again this morning while Joyce read in her book and Grandma B worked on these two blogs. She said she's never done a blog before, so she's experimenting on mine and having fun. Grandma Joyce read to me while Russ and Grandma B went to lunch.

Russ had to leave at 1:00 to get a fit-tested on a respirator he has to wear sometimes during work. I got an epidural at 2:00. It's 3:00 now and I can still move my feet. The contractions are close enough and hard enough that I feel like I should be progressing, but the baby is still too high. The anesthesiologist is coming back now to redo the epidural because evidently it didn't "take."

6:00 p.m.
At 3:30 Dr. Chisdak was supposed to do a procedure to help Bentlie get more ready. We got into the OR and the epidural wasn't working again so they tried again. It still didn't work, but at least the Dr. got to do the procedure and it really helped. I'm now at a 7-1/2. Everything is ready.

8-9-10

That's a cool birth date! That's the date we're going for with our little/big Bentlie Michael Bassett.

Got to the hospital this morning at 6:30, started oxytocin (pit) at 8:30. But it's now 3:00 and not much is happening, except that Bentlie has been kicking my ribs. Grandpa and Grandma Cordis called me about noon. I have done a lot of walking, and walking, and walking, making the loop with Grandma Joyce and Grandma Bassett. I've been chewing a lot of ice, since I couldn't eat all day--until the Dr. came in and checked me this afternoon for the second time and said she didn't see much happening. They had the pit cranked up to the max, and still nothing. So they put me on "pause" for the evening (minimal dose of pit in my IV) and said we'll try it again tomorrow. The Dr. said the good thing was that I could eat dinner and watch a movie. But the dinner they brought me wasn't even good. Couldn't even officially be called dinner--more like a "lunchable." (Don't tell--I found a bunch of Russ's leftover french fries and downed 'em in flash, ketchup and all.)

The kids were at daycare all day since we were pretty sure today was the day. Joyce stayed with me while Russ and Grandma B went to get the kids from daycare. Then Grandma stayed with the kids for the night and Russ came and spent the night on the couch in our room. Didn't sleep much, but at least Russ was here.

So much for 8/9/10! (Weeping and wailing!)

Catching UP!!

Sorry it has been so long since our last post. Life has been pretty crazy. As some of you already know I am expecting our baby #5. Our should I say a MAJOR suprise. It was a huge shock to find out we were expecting, since Gracie was our last. I kept thinking how sad I would be when Ken and Shelly anounced their #5 and we would not be keeping up with them. OOOOPS!! I guess I don't need to be sad. But K & S you need to catch up with us now. Funny how things work out. This pregnancy has taken it's toll on me in many ways. I have been very sick and tired , and still trying to hold a full time job (which I love by the way), keep up with my four other little monsters, and keep this huge house clean that I thought we just had to have. I have learned more room only means more mess when you have four very busy kids. I have also been in the hospital twice in the last four weeks, due to dehydration and being so sick.

Despite all this we got to see the newest member of our family last monday. We found out that we are keeping our pattern alive. We also were releaved like Carrisa to find there was only one. So that means we are having a little boy . He was so busy!! Every time I see an ultra sound I marvel at the power of our Heavenly Father, and his perfect plan for us. How can any one witness a new life and not beleive we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and has a perfect plan for us. As I watched our sweet little boy be so busy inside of me I felt a little ashamed. I am sorry we have not talked to anyone but our parents about this pregnancy. It has just been such a shock and very over whelming. But when I saw our little boy so full of life and so wonderful, I was reminded of the love of my Heavenly Father. I know he is very mindful of our family and our current trials. At first when I found out we were expecting I was very ashamed that we just added to our trials. But I know everything happens for a reason and this little boy was meant to be a part of our family. It will take some doing but it will all work out.

We were able to get an ultra sound picture of our little guys "parts". WOW it was as clear as day. There was no mistaking it is a boy. It was amazing. Russ and I never found out what Boyce or Hudson were untill they were born so we have never seen boys parts on the screen before. it was pretty crazy. It was really funny. He was not making it easy to see what he was. He kept turning around, crossing his legs and putting his hands down there. The picture we got was very classic. It shows on the left his bum and then is "parts' then at the far right it shows his little bony fingers coming in for a grab. It was funny the woman doing the ultra sound teased when she saw the hand coming in that it confirmed that it was a boy because he was trying to grab himself. That cracked me up because I still have to remind Hudson and Boyce to leave their "parts" alone.

Bouncing Baby

We're getting really high tech now. Russ figured out how to add

a blog list and now we're trying our hand at videos. We chose for

our first one, our cute little bouncing beauty.

Gracie has been staying up way too late and this is what she does

while we are trying to stay awake to keep an eye on her. This is

what we do to wear her out so we can try to get a couple hours of

sleep before the rest of the gang wakes up.

Handsome Hudson

Here are Hudson's First Grade Pictures.
He's very cute and knows it. It was too funny.
We put his pictures in for him. He got all excited,
saying things like, "Wow what a cute kid." "I just love
that handsome kid." "I'm so excited to see me."
Let me tell you. This boy is a Mini Me of RUSSELL
BRENT BASSETT. I went to help at his school last
Friday to volunteer. I stayed for lunch and recess.
I swear I was hangin' with my husband 27 years ago.
First, he was so slow eating that he ended up eating with
the next grade of kids. ( Sound Familiar?)
Then, if that wasn't enough to convince you, we went out
to recess and I asked him if he had a group of friends he hung
out with. He said that a girl in his class named Haily
sometimes finds him. I mentioned that we should go
find her. He informed me that he mostly just likes to
hang out by himself. We were playing and sure enough
here came sweet cute little miss Haily. Of course he barley
even payed attention to her. ( again this reminded me of a
few experiences in mine and is dads courtship.
Russ' friends had to tell him I was interested.)
Better yet!! His favorite ice cream is vanilla.
He gets side tracked going potty while doing
the I gotta go dance.
The other day I asked him to grab something
right in front of him. He kept saying he couldn't find
it as he was touching it. ( this again reminded me of
something his dad did. ) So I yelled are you kidding me
Russell Brent. The real Russell came in confused. I
pointed out what he was doing and we all laughed.
His teachers all say he is a very smart boy. He
is still very artistic. He just blows his teachers
away at all the things he comes up with. I
will try to scan some of his stories he has written.
We are very proud of him. I love that he is
so much like his dad. It makes me smile.
