Teething Twins

What's worse than a baby that is teething? 2 babies that are teething! Sometimes Dustin will ask me in the morning how many times I was up with the babies. I can honestly say that most of the time I don't rememeber! But last night I tried to remember how things played out and so here it goes. I also want to add that our computer is on the blitz, so I am trying to update this before our computer is out for a couple of days. So, consequently Dustin and I were up late last night trying to save all of our stuff onto flash drives and CDs.

8:30 p.m. Both babies in bed asleep.
11:30 p.m. Dustin and I go to bed (later than we wanted to)
12:00 a.m. Chase cries out, and I think that he will go back to sleep.
12:05 a.m. Nope, he's awake. I get him before he wakes up Kourtney. He doesn't want a bottle he just wants to be comforted.
12:45 a.m. Put Chase back in bed.
1:30 a.m. He's up again! It must be his teeth, right? Maybe, but I give him a bottle as well.
2:00 a.m. Chase is back in bed and so am I. I swear no sooner did I climb in bed when I heard the rumbling. Which only means one thing.. a train is coming by!
It comes and goes and I hold my breath hoping that it doesn't wake Chase. It doesn't wake him thank goodness, but it did wake Kourtney! There is no way she will put herself back to sleep, and she is way loud when she cries. So, I go in to comfort her for a few minutes.
2:45 a.m. I usually fall asleep on the rocking chair, so I get back to bed 45 min. later than when I went in there.
3:00 a.m. Chase is up again! This time I know he can't want a bottle. So I give up and lay on the couch with him.
5:00 a.m. I hear Dustin getting into the shower. I go put Chase in bed, crawl into my bed and don't remember a thing from there (except for a strange dream I had).
7:30 a.m. Time to get up and get the kids ready for school.

Not too bad huh? All I can say is I get the best sleep after 5 a.m.

Update from Surgery

Everything went really well with the surgery. It turns out that they did have to open up his little hole some more. It was too constricted which can cause urine to back up. But, that's all fixed. He is a new man now! He came out of anesthesia much better this time as well. Things couldn't have gone better. :)

Surgery is scheduled

Chase's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Primary Children's. He will be finally be having a circumcision. It is a little earlier this time which I am happy for. Hopefully things go a little better this time with the anesthesia. We'll be happy to be done with surgeries for awhile.

Hot Dogs?

Dustin and I had a good laugh over this. Chance doesn't care much if he goes to the BYU games or not, but if he knows he will get a hot dog, then he will go! This picture is so appropriate because here is Dustin standing up and cheering, Chance with a hot dog in his hand and grandpa Johnny sitting there looking on.

Chloe

(Chloe in 1966)

I haven't added anything to Chloeisms lately, but believe me there have been plenty of interesting things that girl has said or done. Here are a few:

- The other day she told Dustin he was fat and looked like a girl. When he asked her why he looked like a girl she said, "because your hair is fancy."

- Then she looked right at me yesterday and said, "mom, you're ugly!" I just told her thanks Chloe I really appreciate your honesty. She also told me that I have yellow teeth a couple of months ago.

- The kids got a skull and crossbones stamp when they were trick-or-treating. Chloe was having fun stamping with it when she came to me and told me she had made pirate pants. Yes, she had taken the stamp and stamped it all over her pants that she was wearing.

- Chloe'e middle name is Elizabeth, and she hates it. I don't know why, but she hates it. If you call her by her full name she will either yell or cry. She told me that she wants her name to be Chloe Marie instead.

We love our Chloe!

12 Birthdays in October!

So first I have to apologize to Cooper because I forgot to put his B-day on my October birthday list. That's probably why I shouldn't even do a list because I know I will forget someone else again! I also added two more to the list. Congratulations to Jerritt and Jennifer! They had their twins, Abigail and Nicolas on the 20th. Abigail weighed 5.0 and Nicolas 4.11. Both babies did fine and went home with them 2 days later. So now we have 2 Abigails in our family that were born in October and 2 sets of twins! So all together there are 12 birthdays in mine and Dustin's families. Happy Birthday to all 12 of you!

The babies' b-day was a lot of fun, we had a great time with everyone. Here are some pictures of the party. There are also some from Brick Oven, we took the family there for dinner before the party. There is a picture of the waiters singing to the babies. We all had a good time.

1st year

It's Birthday Time!

Wow, it has been quite a year! We are so happy to celebrate our babies' 1st birthday. As we look back to a year ago, we are amazed at how far they have come. Last year in the hospital, there were a few moments where I never thought things would get better. One time I was trying to feed Chase with a Haberman bottle. He was only taking about 5 cc's. He needed to take at least 75% of his feedings orally, and 5 cc's was about 10% of what he needed. It was very disheartening and I broke down. The occupational therapist said that things would get better and in a year we would be laughing. Well, I don't know if I am laughing, but I am happy to be where we are at. I still have a hard time when I look at all of the pictures. I was scared to take Kourtney home and she was about 7 lbs. Then 2 weeks later, I was really scared to take home a 4 lb. baby boy and then to take care of them both. Luckily, he didn't have his feeding tube for long. Right before Christmas for some reason I decided to try the pigeon bottle that the hospital had sent home with us. We had never used the pigeon bottle in the hospital, just the Haberman. To my surprise Chase took all of his feeding from that bottle in 20 min! It was like a miracle to us. We never used his feeding tube again! It has been a fun year with ups and downs and in betweens. Currently Kourtney is really close to walking, she just needs that little bit of confidence. Chase is about a month away from walking. He is making more sounds with his mouth and has discovered he can make sounds with the roof of his mouth. Kourtney is quite a character and makes all kinds of silly faces. We feel so blessed to have them in our family- Happy Birthday babies!

Who's That Girl?

Can you match the year with the picture? From top to bottom: 1962, 1990 (Wait is that Amy?), 1994 the year I graduated, this picture isn't too far from the truth, 1952, 1968, 1978 (Scary!), and 1980 (Is that Sharon?). This is so much fun. Go to yearbookyourself.com. I would love to see others post their pictures.

Deer Hunting

Okay so Dustin had another hunt going on last week. He was looking for deer this time. He actually shot at one, but his muzzleloader didn't fire off like it should, so he missed-twice. It's too bad, I will miss all of the deer meat this winter :) He did see a moose, though, which is what that picture is up above. I thought that was pretty cool. The last picture is Katelyn reading Harry Potter. That is all she has done lately in her spare time. She loves it so much she is going to be Hermione for Halloween.

Some things never change

Dustin and I went to the BYU game last Saturday, it was really nice to get away for an afternoon. So I sat next to dad and I realized that some things never change. I remember going to games with dad and Jeff when I was younger. And it was the same back then, dad with his headphones on and binoculars up. Once this guy in front of us turned around and said to Jeff, "please don't kick me anymore." He was probably only 6 or 7 at the time. I don't think Jeff or I moved much the rest of that game. Then, with 5 minutes left in the game we would leave our seats and walk slowly down the stairs and slowly to the exits, stopping to watch every play. So, even before I married Dustin I was a BYU football fan. In 2nd grade our class wrote letters to try to get Steve Young the Heisman trophy. Then he and Gordon Hudson came to our class and threw footballs around with us, (I still have my little football with their signatures.) I also had posters up in my room of Cougar stadium and various football players. I guess it was just fate for Dustin and I to get married, I don't know what I would have done if he was a fan of the school up north...

Growing Pains?

Lately Chloe has been waking up at night crying because her leg hurts. I'm hoping that it is just growing pains. Has anyone else experienced this? Also if you haven't seen it yet here is the link to Archie's new video. I'm hoping that one of my nieces will marry him someday. Dani? Jen?

Comments are enabled!

After months of searching and trying to fix my comment problem, I have finally figured out how to put my comments back on the main page!! I had to play around in my html codes, what a joke! But, I am excited to have them back.

BYU Fever

BYU fever is catching on! Katelyn and Dustin had a blast watching BYU stomp on UCLA. It's great to see such a fanbase for the Cougars. Of course people get excited when they are winning, but I know fans that stick through it with them through thick and thin! Dustin and Dad have been there even in tough times. Like during the Crowton years at games when it was snowing a blizzard and BYU was losing by many many points. I remember Dustin saying to everyone "just wait, BYU will be back." He never lost faith in them. Boy, where were all the fans then? They weren't at LaVell Edwards stadium I know that. But, now it's great to see excitement again. Let's cheer for the Cougars to go undefeated and end up in the top 3!

Chloe goes to pre-school

It's been quite the week around here. Chloe started pre-school last week, which has been so good for her and for me. Kourtney started throwing up over the weekend and didn't stop. She is doing better now, but she almost had to be admitted for IV fluids. (SCARY)! She probably put something in her mouth that she wasn't supposed to. As you can see in the picture above, she will put anything in her mouth. Most of the time she thinks that it is funny. Chase saw the urologist last week and he didn't have all of the "problems" that the pediatrician thought he had so he is just having a circumcision in Nov. School is in full swing now, it is nice to have the schedule back, and a little quiet time as well. :)

Countdown to Babies B-Day

We are starting to countdown to the babies 1st b-day. Here are some pics of me last summer. The first one is in June, then August and then October. I didn't think that I could get any bigger! Anyway, have you guys heard that the Half-Blood Prince is not coming out until July!? I guess Harry Potter hasn't made WB rich enough yet, they need to capitalize on the summer movie season right? We didn't do much on Labor Day, it was too cold! We cleaned the house and played the Wii up at Dustin's parents, which was fun. It was nice just to have nothing to do.
Chase has hit some milestones which are probably no big deal with other babies, but to him they are a big deal! He started crawling on his knees more, he is getting a top tooth (which we weren't even sure he had) and he said mama which is a huge deal for him. Ever since he had his surgery his speech has improved so much. He babbles alot more and has much better balance. He is now more than 6 times his birth weight and double in length. Tomorrow we go see a urologist for a couple of things he has to have fixed. He will most likely have surgery before the year is out. Kourtney is quite the character. She might give Chloe a run for her money. Dustin swears that Kourtney said "football" the other day! Dustin took Chance to the BYU game last week and had a great time. Chloe starts pre-school tomorrow, yeahhhhh! She really needs something to do. And Katelyn is just being sweet Katelyn....
