How can a mission supporting team help u?

Recently i notice tat a lot of ppl are having questions about mission, dont know how can they support and dont know who to ask when they hav questions.
Some common questions are like: how can we prepare ourselves for a long term mission trip?
where are the possible land tat needs ppl for mission?
Tat's why i suddenly hav tis idea of starting a mission supporting team to help the ppl answer some of the doubts.

I understand tat we already have a Mission Support Team in church, but i think tat tis team supports the church planters more. if we can bring the team in a district level, i think it can serve the ppl more effective.

Afterall, mission change our life and change the world, everyone who calls himself the Christ follower should be involved in mission, in one way or another:)

so friends, can let me know if u hav any concerns of involving in mission? recently i'm asking ppl about tis question so i would know how can tis minstry serve the ppl better, do let me know ur concerns oh:) hee

Colossians 1:9-14

F-Forsaking
A-All
I-I
T-Take
H-Him

I wanna giv testimony to God!

Last week when i came back from Thailand, nothing seems to go right. My working schedule doesnt allow me to go CG, UDMM and service, i spoilt my camera and most desperating of all, i had a really lousy hair cut which i dont know how to face the ppl.....:(

Jus as i was asking God why he allow all these things happened. I read bout tis book which mentions the difference between being pruned and disciplined by God. Being disciplined is when we do something wrong, God uses the circumstances to correct us. But pruning is when we're doin right, God uses circumstances to mold us, so tat we're able to overcome the testing and grow from one milestone to the next one. The failure to recognise the difference can make us very frustrating in walking right with. I always thought tat God would always allow things happen bcos i had not doing well and he wants to correct me. But after i read this book, it really make sense to me that the situation tat i'm goin through is a pruning process to be stronger and stronger in my walk with God. It's not tat He's punishing me, but as i choose to put my faith in Him i learnt tat trusting in God is not only by saying and purely believing. but to uphold all our problems to Him and allow Him to comfort us. And true enough, this week i experiece His blessing le:)

Actually last week i already received the good news from my manager tat i would be officially transfered to Operating Theatre as i had requested before i went Thailand. I really thx God for tis promt response.
And as i started my first day in OT on Mon day, I get to know my schedule which is super good. I will be off on every Sunday, including public holiday also, and my every Fri is morning shift, which means i can attend service and CG every wk now! Not only tat, i would also received OT allowance every month as part of my salary, which means i would draw a better pay every month, really praised the Lord! And the most important of all, i really like the environment of OT, although some of my collegues find it stressful, which i agrees also, but still i jus like it. It's the first time i experience what it is like to be enjoy in ur work, I Really Really wan to thank God tat He is a God who's just, and would give us the things tat is best for us

Therefore brother and sisters, do not lost heart for God, when we acknowledge Him, he would show us a better which i cant even imagine:)

I love this family of God part 2
We visited 6 small churches in different distric of Korat, they branch out from the main church in Korat, each church only have few members, about 10 -20, and the Pastors who started the church are all very inspiring. It's out of God's calling and vision tat the pastos from the main church go to the different distric to start the church and share the gospel. i'm really very inspired by their Spirit...
the 6 churches we visited are Hope Seng Sung, Pak Thong Chai, Pi Mai, Pak thai, Buai Ya and Hope Pak Chong. When we visited the church, each one of us take turn to share our testimony and we prayed for the member and the pastors. It's truely a very ministering experience, tat we see how God works we we pray for each others.
One more thing i wan to highlight is tat although the ppl didnt earn much, life is hard for them as most of the members are not educated, but when we all come and worship God as one family. I was really touched tat it's really by God's grace that we're saved. They might be poor but their spirit is enriched by God. God is really the one tat had gave them hope and the purpose of life=D

this is 'Song Tham', the local thai mango salad, sweet and sour:)

Fried crickets!!

Me and Winner, the most 'chalat' (smart in thai) boy =D

Thai ice cream with bo bo cha cha style

WEll after all 1 important lesson i learnt is tat as we serve out of the love from God, we would not feel burn out, but would always rejoice in serving God. and thx God that through tis trip, i'm once convinced tat He's the real God tat deserve our worship and service, Amen :)

For christ love compels us, because we're convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. -2 Cor 5:14

I Love This Family of God

2Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline

BAck from the long trip in Thailand last Sun....so much memories and so much to share........

From the camp, God spoken to me so strongly to love Him first if i want to exercise the Spirit of Lov. Indeed, i knew tat i had driven away from God. All the problems in life so overwhelming and seems impossible to handdle. I really thank God tat through the Thai camp, He told me once again tat as long as we put Him first, He would be in the center of the problems and be tere for us. And once again, He draw me back to him and convicts me again tat, Yes! He's promise is 'yes!' and Amen! He would never leave us or forsake us... Thank u Lord

So i make a commitment to God tat my daily QT and Weekly Sabbath day would be my focus and first priority everyday, i would not allowed any situation to distract me from spenting time with God again....At least for one year's time from now on, my focus is to grow myself deeply in the love of GOd.

One more thing from the camp, i responded in the mission night to go Africa in 3 to 4 years time. I do not know where exactly and how God wan to use me in the mission field, but tat night, i sense so strongly tat He ask me to respond. Therefore, although i was still uncertain, i wan to obey God and let him use me. After all, doin mission is to see God's promise being fullfilled in ppl's life. So pls let me know if u hav the same heart beat as me, we shall bring God's blessing together to Africa!!

STM in NakhonRatchasima 23.04.08-27.04.08

We spent 5 days in the city, nickname Korat where Sea Game was held last year for our STM in Thai. The 6 of us, Paul, Edward, Deborah, Florence (our leader), Clarence and me really enjoyed the experience of serving God together in a foreign land and also deeply touched by the warmness and hospitabily of the Thai brothers and sisters =D

to be continue......

This week i attended the relationship seminar at Redhill, there's tis illustration the speaker share to stress the importance to keep the 'first thing first' in our relationships with friends and family, our relationship with them will never last if we never priortise them in our life, here's the story goes....

Big Rocks
One day an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers, he said, "Okay, time for a quiz." Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide mouthed Mason jar and set it on the table in front of him.

Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is the jar full?" Everyone in the class said, "Yes."

Then he said, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. Then he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar, causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the space between the Big rocks.

Then he asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?"

By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered.

"Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is the jar full?"
"No!" the class shouted.

Once again he said, "Good!" Ten he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?"

One eager student raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in!"

"No," the speaker replied, "That's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all. What are the 'big rocks' in your life? Your children ... Your loved ones ... Your education ... Your dreams ... A worthy cause ... Teaching or mentoring others ... Doing things that you love ... Time for yourself ... Your health ... Your significant other." "Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you'll never get them in at all. If you sweat the little stuff (the gravel, the sand) then you'll fill your life with little things to worry about that don't really matter, and you'll never have the real quality time you need to spend on the big, important stuff (the big rocks).

So, tonight or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question: What are the 'big rocks' in my life? Then, put those in your jar first."

"When there's no revealation, the people cast off restraint." -Prov 29:18

Recently i'm reading tis book by Andy Stanley-Visioneering, how to engineering ur vision in life. I would say that it's a good book. The first few chapter of this book explains how we would be able to see the vision God has for us, and then it further explains the threats and challenges to maintain and really archieve this vision.

There's few things i learnt, vision is not just a dream, but it's something that God has put a burden in u, and u feel that it should be and could be done. When partner with God's power and the total trust in Him, this conviction will eventually blossom into the wonderful plan tat God has prepared in ur life.

I'm really very inspired by a lots of examples mentioned in this book, how these ppl live to archieve their vision in life, it's never easy, but it's the best way tat we could able to see God works in our life. If u're also lost, and looking for a clear vision, i strongly recommend this book to you=D

Next is the cg i had on last fri, it's at Lean Choo's place, at chua chu kang, although there's only me, Z Ying, Ken and Zul attend, but i still enjoy it, ha

We learnt this leasson during the cg, hope it speaks to u too:)
Six worldviews you’re competing againstby Rick Warren

Worldview matters. Clarifying worldviews is not an academic exercise, intellectual theory, or a philosophical concept. A worldview is an integral part of the lives of those you minister to on a weekly basis. It determines their relationships. It determines their successes and failure. It determines their goals and motivations. If you want to see someone change their lives, they’ll have to change how they look at the world first.Every week as you stand before your people to share God’s Word, they’re bringing different worldviews into the room. What are some of these worldviews?
1. The one with the most toys wins. This is the worldview of materialism – and it can be summed up with one world, more. Materialism says that the only thing that really matters in life is acquiring things. Those who subscribe to this worldview live mostly to collect things.
The Bible’s answer: Jesus said this in Luke 12, “A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (NIV). He tells us not to judge our lives by how much we’ve got. The greatest things in life aren’t things.

2. I’ve got to think of me first. We live in a “me first,” serve-yourself world that says it’s all about you. Commercial slogans cater to this viewpoint. Slogans like, “have it your way,” “we do it all for you,” “obey your thirst,” “you’ve got to think of what’s best for yourself,” and “You deserve it.”
For the last 40 years, the Baby Boomer generation has been called the “Me Generation.” This “me first” idea has infected entire communities. It has torn up marriages (“I don’t care how divorce impacts my spouse or children; it’s all about me”), destroyed workplaces (“I don’t care how my laziness impacts my co-workers; it’s all about me”) and even ruined churches (“Serve my needs first, forget about the lost”).
It’s a self-centered, individualistic way of life that says we should ignore the community and other people.
The Bible’s answer: Jesus says, “If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life” (Matt. 16:25 NLT). Jesus says you only begin to live when you give your life away. Significance in life does not come from serving yourself; it comes from serving God and others.

3. Do what feels good. This is hedonism – the belief that the most important thing in life is how we feel. The number one goal of a hedonist is to feel good, be comfortable, and have fun.
It’s the worldview that Hugh Hefner founded Playboy magazine on. He willingly acknowledges he is a hedonist.
It’s not just playboys who are hedonists, though. In fact, someone who lives for the goal of retirement is a hedonist. If the whole goal of a person’s life is to simply do nothing, live a self centered life, and make no contribution to the world, that’s hedonism.
The Bible’s answer: “Are you addicted to thrills? What an empty life! The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied” (Prov 21:17 Msg). Mick Jagger’s been singing: “I can’t get no satisfaction” for 40 years. Why? The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied.

4. Whatever works for you. This worldview says it doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong. It doesn’t matter if it hurts anybody or not. If it works for you, fine. As that great theologian Sly Stone says, “Different strokes for different folks.”
In our multi-cultural, pluralistic world, this is a very popular worldview. Nobody wants to tell someone else that what they are doing is wrong. In fact that’s the only way you can be wrong in our society today – if you tell someone else they’re wrong.
The Bible’s answer: The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Prov. 14:12 NIV). Our ideas may seem right, but in the end our ideas lead to death. “Whatever works for you” leads to death. You don’t break God’s universal laws; they break you.

5. God doesn’t exist. This worldview is naturalism or atheism. Naturalists believe that everything in life is a result of random chance. We’re all accidents of nature. There is no grand creator or grand design. God either doesn’t exist or he doesn’t matter.
If there is no God, there’s no plan or purpose for life. If there is no purpose, than your life doesn’t really matter. Your only value comes from the fact that God loves you, created you, and thought you up. For naturalists, life has no value, meaning, or purpose.
It takes more faith to be an atheist than it does to believe in God. When you look at creation and how the world is set on an axis, it proves the existence of God to me. If it were one degree one way, we’d freeze up. If it were one degree the other way, we’d burn up. The Bible’s answer: Paul says in Romans 1:25 (NIV), “From the beginning of creation, God has shown what he is like by all he has made. That's why those people don't have any excuse. They know about God, but they don't honor him or even thank him...They claim to be wise, but they are fools.” In other words, we can look at nature and see a lot about God. We know God is creative, powerful, organized, and likes diversity. There are lots of things we know about God just by looking at nature.

6. You are your own God. This worldview, otherwise known as humanism, is very popular in the Western world. It says we are the mastermind of our own fate, the determiner of our destiny. You’ll hear this in the new age movement as well: “You’re divine. You’re a god.”
It’s ironic. God wired us to worship something. And if we don’t worship God, we end up worshipping ourselves. The self-made man usually worships his maker.
The Bible’s answer: Paul says in Rom. 1:25 (NIV): “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped created things rather than the Creator.” You can go all around the world and find people worshipping little idols that they made – stone idols, rock idols, crystals, and wooden idols. They’re worshipping something that they created themselves or somebody else created. In America we have our own idols – they’re called cars, homes, and status symbols. The Bible is clear that God is God, and we’re not.

All of these worldviews have consequences. Every day we’re affected and influenced by them. We’re often not even aware of it. These worldviews affect the happiness and success of the people to whom you minister. They matter greatly.
There’s only one worldview that is consistent with the Bible. The biblical worldview says God made us for his purposes. It says that we exist for his pleasure. It’s 180 degrees different from the other worldviews above.
Want to change the hearts of those listening to your sermons each week? Change their minds – and their worldviews – first.

My Post-Xmas Update

wa...it's been two month since i last update a proper blog..ha

btw i think i hav to make some explanation for my previous entry-about my lost lappie....

two weeks ago as i came back from my Msia trip, i forgetfully left my laptop behind at Kranji MRT!!

i was so desparate and thought tat i had lost tis lappie for good.... for the 4days when i lost my laptop, i was really depressed, only at this period of time do i realize tat i cant live without my lappie, ha

And really thank God tat my lappie was found by this Super kind-hearted guy zhi yong, he really is the nicest guy of the century, he kept the laptop for me and email me to get the laptop back from him, and so i met him and get my laptop back....at tat moment my heart really filled wf graditide not only towards ZhiYong but also God, for He had given me the best Xmas gift tis year-my lost and found lappie, God I Love You!!!

So now, i'm able to update my blog with this lappie, and i promise i would never lost it again...never ever...

Anyway...there's so many things i wanna thank God for in this season, one of the things is the gifts i received(besides my lappie, ha) Among all the gift i received, there's this little keychain i received from my goodfriend in the caregroup, Shelia, that i really really like it

A keychain wf the verse Corinthians 13;6-7 inprinted on it. It matches the theme of my blog so nicely, ha, but not only this, it reminds me again of the true meaning of Xmas...few weeks ago i heard this carol, 'Mary's Boy Child' on the street and then i went to search for it's lyric. It's really a nice song bcos i find that the lyric summarise the meaning of Xmas so nicely....

long time ago in Bethlehem

sothe Holy Bible said

Mary's Boy Child Jesus Christ

was born on Christmas Day.

Hark now hear the angels sing

a King was born today

and man will live for evermore

because of Christmas Day

Take a look at the last two line-'and man will live forevermore because of Christmas Day'...it really explains the reason why Xmas so widely celebrate among diffirent races and nations, bcos of Christ's birth that man is saved through the salvation

well, Jesus truely lived and died for us, that's how Xmas and Easter came about. In this season of thanksgiving, i suppose God's love for mankind is the ultimate gift we should thank Him for

"for God so love the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perished but have eternal life."

Serve the Underserve.
This wed i went NUH to look for a friend, it's been ages since we last met, ha, i always appreciate the time to meet friends, it's wonderful to catch up with each others after such a long time. After that i went to the Blood donation center to register as a bone marrow donor. I really did that!! Although they will only call me when there's a need for me to donate my bone marrow to someone( which means i might not even be called up in my life time!), I still felt excited for it!, ha

Actually bone marrow transplanting is really a seriuos matter. In America, there're cases where by the donor died of heart problems after the transplant, although the authority couldnt prove that it is directly due to the transplant process.......
After all, i suppose maybe it's just like some any other surgical procedure, cant run away from any risk.
So let's do some little discussion here, would u be willing to donate ur bone marrow if u know of someone who's dying, and ur blood type matches hers?

Alright,I got this piece of article to share also, not about bone marrow anymore, hope it inspires u:)

A judge has ordered a German man to stop bursting into laughter in the woods. Joachim Bahrenfeld, an accountant, was taken to court by one of several joggers who say their runs have been disturbed by Bahrenfeld’s deafening squeals of joy. He faces up to 6 months in jail if he is caught again. Bahrenfeld, 54, says he goes to the woods to laugh nearly every day to relieve stress. "It is part of living for me," he says, "like eating, drinking, and breathing." He feels that a cheerful heart, expressed through hearty laughter, is important to his health and survival.
A cheerful heart is vital in life. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart does good, like medicine." A happy heart affects our spirit and our physical health.

But there is a deeper, abiding joy for those who trust the Lord that is based on much more than frivolity and circumstances. It is a joy based on God’s salvation. He has provided forgiveness of sin and a restored relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus. That gives us a deep joy which circumstances cannot shake (Ps. 126:2-3; Hab. 3:17-18; Phil. 4:7).
May you experience the joy of knowing Jesus Christ today! —Marvin WilliamsMarvin Williams-->

Recently i read about this person's personal experience as a bone marrow donor. His kindness had saved the life of a luekemia patient, whom he doesn't even know. Due to moral considerations and confidentiality, the hospital would not reveal the name of both the patient and bone marrow donor. Therefore, the donor would never know who is the person he saved, neither would the patient know who is the one donated bone marrow to him.

But what inspiring more is the courage of the donor, as bone marrow transplant post a risk to the safety of the donor's life. Even despite the side effects like body ache, vommiting and general body discomfort after a bone marrow transplant, the donor said that he would still donate if there's another chance of saving life.

So touched right? so i continue to read the article and found out that there's this Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) in Singapore which actively recruiting potential bone marrow donors, what we can do to save the life of a blood-diseased patient is just to register and have blood test done for HLA tissue typing.

HLA stands for Human Leukocyte Antigens. Just as red blood cells have A, B and O types, leukocytes have HLA types and the success of a transplant depends mainly on HLA matching. There are tens of thousands of patterns of HLA types.
Next week i'm goin NUH to register for it, ha, anyone of u interested to go do let me know oh. Here are some FAQs for bone marrow transplant:

you can find out more via this website too:http://www.bmdp.org/

Q: WHAT IS BONE MARROW?
A: Bone marrow is found in the cavities of our bones. It is a substance resembling blood that produces the body’s blood cells, platelets and white blood cells – the main components of the body’s immune system.

Q: DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY EXPENSES?
A: All medical expenses relating to the bone marrow donation will be borne by the patient. You, as the donor, will be given medical leave for adequate rest following the donation. Throughout the whole process, you will be assigned a BMDP staff or volunteer who will be there on hand to render any assistance required.

Q: ARE THERE ANY RISKS OR SIDE EFFECTS?
A: Other than the remote chance of a reaction to anaesthesia or an infection, the risks to bone marrow harvest are minimal. Donors generally feel no pain during the bone marrow harvest as they are under general anaesthesia. After the procedure, there may be slight discomfort in the lower back lasting a few days, which is much like a muscle ache or similar to pain felt on the tailbone after a fall. With the stem cell harvest, donors might experience some flu-like symptoms, slight bone pain, or a feeling of heaviness during the injections. These discomforts usually disappear soon after the collection is completed.

Q: WHAT EXACTLY IS A MARROW / STEM CELL TRANSPLANT?
A: It is the replacement of diseased marrow with marrow from a healthy donor, infused into a patient's vein just like a blood transfusion. Within two to three weeks, the transplanted marrow/stem cells begin to produce normal blood cells in the platelet.

Q: WHEN DO I BECOME A BONE MARROW DONOR?
A: Your tissue type has to match perfectly with that of the patient’s. The odds vary widely, depending on the rarity of the patient’s tissue type. This means that you may never be called upon, even as a preliminary match. However, once you are identified as a compatible donor, you may be the only person who can provide the life-saving bone marrow to that patient.

Q: HOW IS BONE MARROW COLLECTED FROM A DONOR?
A: Upon identification as a compatible match, the donor will be counselled before undergoing a thorough medical examination to ascertain his or her fitness level. Currently, there are two standard methods to harvest the bone marrow. Method 1. Bone Marrow Harvest The bone marrow is removed from the back of the pelvic bone using a special needle and syringe. The entire process takes 45 to 60 minutes whilst the donor is under general anaesthesia. Though there is no surgery involved, an overnight rest in the hospital is recommended. The amount of bone marrow harvested is less than 5% of the body’s marrow and this is naturally regenerated within a few weeks. Method 2. Stem Cell Harvest (Most current and common method) Stem cells are really the blood cells found in the bone marrow. The donor will be given a series of G-CSF (Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor) injections to stimulate the growth of their stem cells and to mobilize them into the blood stream. A few days later, the stem cells will be collected as part of a blood donation procedure. Donations can be done in an outpatient setting as the procedure takes approximately three to five hours.

Pigeon Walk

Have you ever wondered why a pigeon walks so funny? It's so it can see where it's going. A pigeon's eyes can't focus as it moves, so the bird actually has to bring its head to a complete stop between steps in order to refocus. It proceeds clumsily—head forward, stop, head back, stop.
In our spiritual walk with the Lord, we have the same problem as the pigeon: We have a hard time seeing while we're on the go. We need to stop between steps—to pause and refocus on the Word and the will of God. That's not to say we have to pray and meditate about every little decision in life. But certainly our walk with the Lord needs to have built into it a pattern of stops that enable us to see more clearly before moving on.

Daniel's practice of praying three times a day was an essential part of his walk with God (Daniel 6:10). He knew there's a certain kind of spiritual refocusing that we can't do without stopping. His stops gave him a very different kind of walk—one that was obvious to those around him.
What about us? At the risk of being thought of as different, as Daniel was, let's learn this valuable lesson from the pigeon: "Looking good" isn't nearly as important as "seeing well." —Mart De Haan
