Red Hot Tamales Won!

Cadence had her first soccer game today! and my first experience with 3-4 year olds running after a soccer ball. Here are some videos for those that are interested in how it went. What you don't see in these clips was how freezing and windy it was the entire game. By the end of the game all the kids had runny red noses, but they had fun! =o) p.s. not that we keep track of score on these games, but in case you are curious, our team won 1-0...purely by luck.

The video above was hilarious. The ref had already blew the whistle for the kids to stop kicking the ball and then this kid, and Cadence following, kept kicking the ball and kicked it into the net! Too bad the point didn't count.

This video was right after half-time and that's our red team! My husband was the "coach" running up and down with the kids telling them which way to kick the ball. Those kids wore him out.

What a fun game, this clip shows you what happened a lot during the game. No matter where they kick the ball, both teams are following it and in this clip they followed it off the field..and kept going and going and going. =o)

Glitterized!

Ok ok, I know this is a foot post and picture, sorry, but my toes have been Glitterized! That's the name I gave it. The picture I downloaded is a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. My sister Amy and I went to her sister-in-law's house to get this done. She works at a nail salon and does this all the time and has done Amy's toes quite a bit. I finally said I want them done, so we went over and just had fun. AND she did Cadence's toes too! so much fun and they look great. It is literally glitter that they put on your toes, then they put a coating on top to make it smoothe. Just in time for my trip. = o)

Feels Like Tonight

For those that know me, I'm not a big American Idol fan. I honestly haven't watched it since the first season when Kelly Clarkson won. I still love Kelly Clarkson's music. My sister Amy loves American Idol. She tells me about David Archuleta, the kid from Murray, and how he did the night before (her favorite is when he sang Imagine). I was a little curious so I looked him up on YouTube a while back. Their is no denying that he has an amazing voice, but after listening to a couple other idol contestants, my favorite is David Cook. I just prefer his style, and how he tries to make the song his own (all except for last nights Andrew Lloyd Webber song). Then I find out a few days ago that one of my current favorite music artists, Daughtry, was a contestant on American Idol at one point. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. So now, even though I don't watch American Idol, I'll pull up David Cook and David Archuleta's most recent song to see how they did. If I had to chose, they would be my top two.

Red Hot Tamale's

Today was the day! Cadence had her first day of Soccer. What an experience. We arrived, and the whole field was full of kids, but not one was on our team. The group in charge of this program wasn't very organized, but it's about having fun right? Eventually a few more parents and kids showed up for our team, and then we find out that our coach backed out at the last minute. Luckily a dad on our team volunteered (but honestly, Jared was doing more with the kids during practice). So far the total of kids that showed up is 6, just enough to play on the field. We have yet to pick a team name, but a few of us are leaning toward the Red Hot Tamale's. =o) I added some pictures of Cadence in her soccer uniform. These are the smallest sizes available and she's swimming in them. lol. The shirts not so bad, but the shorts are more like pants. Too cute. She's also the smallest one on the team. The important thing is she LOVED it and had a blast with the other kids. Next Saturday is the first game, that should be fun to watch. Just imagine a swarm of kids going after one ball.

slurpees, snow and a shout out.

I just want to start with what is up with our weather!? Looking outside my window I see a blizzard, and the temperature is 36 degrees. Yesterday, it was sunny, HOT, almost 80 degrees, and windy =o) I think it's fun to see snow every now and then at the beginning of the spring season, but this is just crazy. My daughter is taking her last nap of the day so I have a few spare moments to update the blogging world of what I've been up to. I missed an update from over a week ago when my sister Lisa and her hubby were in town. Real fast: I love it when they come into town, wish the visit was longer. Next time I hope to visit them in Tacoma. That reminds me..I need to see if the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica has downloaded so I can watch it. =o) Since then my whole family has been sick. Me, my hubby, and both my girls. Last week was much worse. One of the days last week I was soooo glad Jared was home sick (still sick, but better off than me) cause I could barely hold the baby and I was just out, couldn't really do anything. Jared took care of me and the girls. AND HE WAS SICK! love him. We've been trying really hard to not go out very much. The last few days have been better, but still congested with a few lingering coughs and runny noses. The worst is over. This last weekend Jared's parents have been in town, which was wonderful. They have just finished their 6 month mission on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, and came up just in time for my nephew, who just turned 12. It was really nice to see Jared's sister Kim and her family and just visit with them. We just don't get up to Layton very much (honestly....a handful of times a year, sad I know). Her oldest is 16 and attending his FIRST prom dance this weekend...tux and all. You can tell he's nervous, and that he did not anticipate how much this date would cost. fun times..hope I get to see a picture. Found out the 14yr old was in a school play and reads Twilight. soo fun! I had no idea. Hey Kim, if you read this, I'd love to know when the next school play is, I want to come! Her 10 yr old daughter is just hilarious. Overall, very fun and I wish I could see them more. Yesterday the boys (dad in law, jared, 2 of his brothers, and a friend) went snowboarding/skiiing for the day while mom and I had a girls day out. We were out of the house pretty early and just went all over the valley. I probably talked her ear off...sorry mom. =o) We had a blast, the girls were restless, but we got out of the house, went to a few stores, went to the park, stopped for slurpees (if you know me, it's a must), and even squeezed in taking a dog to the groomers. The end of the day, the boys came back...sunburned, and I think they had a good time in the slushy snow. AND it wouldn't be a parents visit without a trip to Cafe Rio. yummy. Their visit was short, but they had to get back to the ranch, so they left this morning. We'll miss them, but i'm looking forward to seeing them again hopefully when Jared's other sister comes out in May! Today has just been as lazy as possible. This morning, before the snow, the county dropped off huge dumpsters for "clean up program." They are only here for a day, and it's one of my favorite days of the year, cause it's the day we get to finally throw away all those huge boxes, or unwanted items that just don't fit in the trash can. AND it's supposed to motivate people to clean their yards. They give you a few days notice, so we gathered stuff in the garage over the weekend. With Melody's first nap I threw everything that was in the pile in the dumpster (we're talking boxes, trash that's been in bags in the basement for months, the coffee table I accidentally broke over the weekend--whoops, and lots of other things). Jared spent a lot of time cleaning up weeds in the back, but I have no desire to move them in this weather. I was planning on it when Melody went down for her 2nd nap, but who wants to move a massive pile of weeds in a blizzard?! Now she's awake and I've lost my window of opportunity. maybe when they go to bed tonight? we'll see. Something random, want to give a "shout out" to some people, in no order. =o) Erin and John: Congratulations finding out you're having a boy! Anna: when can I see you?! miss you tonz. Laura (amy's neighbor): got your note on Ams blog, thanks. =o) hope you'll be able to make it to the movie too! Amelia and Lisa: you're stuck with me. lol. love ya. Leslie: you're awesome. when are you heading this way?! we'll definitely plan something. Jim: if you're reading this. still keeping an eye on things. hope you're well. I'm sure i've missed some people that I was going to write to, but I'll figure that out later, I really gotta run.

My Wallpaper Remover

Yesterday was a fun, busy day. I reorganized the furniture in Melody's room, ran a ton of errands (including an important stop for a Slurpee), went to the bank to open an account for Melody, cleaned the house . . . just a lot done. The highlight to my day was taking down the pooh bear wallpaper wallies in Melody's room. They were super cute and have been up since Cadence was a newborn, but it was time for a change. I went online to ehow.com to see what they recommended for taking down wallpaper. Fun website. They have super easy directions to any question you may have--some have video to show you exactly how to do it. Well, their version of how to take wallpaper down was, for me, too much. Don't get me wrong, the directions were easy enough, I just didn't have all the supplies, I wanted something easier that I had around my house. With each article they also include a comment section for anyone to leave a note. It was GREAT! The comment section had 3 alternate ways to take down wallpaper that is sooo much easier! One suggested using that bathroom cleaner that is kinda foamy so it will stick more to the wall and not run so much. But I tried another option. I got a spray bottle, but a little liquid dishwasher detergent in it to just cover the bottom, and then added really hot water. The pooh bear wallpaper I used were not that big, so they were off in like 10 minutes. All I had to do is spray it on (towel to catch the runny water), use a putty knife to help with the excess glue, and start pulling it off. It was great, I just kept spraying when the wallpaper got a little dry where I was pulling, but in the end they came off! I know I'm a little crazy about being excited about taking wallpaper off, but I have a good reason. I have had these wall stickers for months and now I can put them up to decorate Melody's room! I LOVE WALL STICKERS! So easy to put up and to take off (or move around). I picked up the Disney Fairies Glitter Wall Stickers, which are based off the movie TinkerBell that is coming out in the Fall. They are adorable, and the wings really glitter! I found some pictures of them to show you what the look like. I have not yet taken any pictures of what Melody's room looks like (just finished putting the stickers up 10 minutes ago), but I will post some later on. Girls rooms are so much fun to decorate. =o)

Today is an important day, and maybe I should have mentioned it first. hehehe.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYLEE!!

Amy's little girl is now 1 yrs old. Can you believe it?

Such a cutie and a mom's girl. Love ya!
