Surgery
Kaitlyn developed a problem with her right thumb called "trigger thumb." There is some kind of bulbous tissue that couldn't pass through a tendon in the base of her thumb, which meant that her thumb was continually bent, and couldn't straighten. We took her to a hand specialist, who told us that surgery was necessary.
She had her surgery on June 7, and it was a relatively simple surgery. She didn't even need an IV anesthesia. They wrapped up her hand, and told us to keep it dry for two weeks. Yeah.
She is generally acting right handed, so it was tricky for her to eat with her left hand for a while. Notice the mess on her cheeks as she missed her mouth a few times.
This picture was taken 10 days post surgery. It is healing well, and now that it has been 15 days, she should be able to get it wet and use it normally once again.

Aidan's Soccer Game
Aidan loves playing soccer. It has been raining a lot here, and we have a bit of flooding. But that certainly doesn't stop the kids.

Track & Field Day
Ethan had track & field day for school a couple of weeks ago. He got to do the long jump and the 100 meter dash. This is a blurry picture, but it was his longest jump out of the two he got to do. He jumped 10 feet, 8 inches.
He also came in second for the 100 meter dash!

Kaitlyn's Third Birthday!
Christian, Aidan and Ethan all had their birthdays in the month leading up to Kaitlyn's birthday. She was jealous that she couldn't open their presents or blow out their candles. But finally, it was her turn to have her special day!
So cute!
Ever since she got this tea set from Nana & Grandpa, we have had to play it every day, over and over. She LOVES playing tea party. (Usually involving water, and usually involving spills.)
I found this set of fruits & vegetables that can be cut in half (& reattach with velcro), and she also LOVES spending all day cutting them in half and putting them back together. We have been working a lot on the concept of sharing, by cutting them in half and then she gets one half of the fruit, and I get the other half.
We sure do love this girl!

She chose her own cupcake and frosting flavors (funfetti, of course), and she was excited to blow out her own candles.

Ethan's Birthday
Ethan turned 10 years old on April 25. He is getting so old!
All decked out in Under Armour and Nike.
He wanted a peanut butter pie for his birthday, "to eat all by himself." In reality, he probably ate half of it. The rest of us shared the other half, and I also made a lemon meringue pie (Ruth & Christian's favorite) for the rest of us to eat.

Aidan's Baptism
April 20 was Aidan's special baptism day! Grandma Ruth was able to attend. He was the only person being baptized this day, so the program was catered specifically around him (songs of his choosing, family, friends and his primary teacher doing the talks & being involved in other ways). He was talking to Nana after the baptism and said to her, "Before I went down in the water I was feeling kind of nervous. But after I came up I felt happy and relaxed." It was very sweet.
We love you, Aidan!

Kaitlyn Shenanigans
Kaitlyn sees Boo as a blank slate, just waiting to be decorated.
Christian suggested I paint her toenails (I had never really thought about it). She was THRILLED with the results. She never does that arm thing, which shows you just how excited she really was.

Aidan's Birthday!
Aidan turned eight years old on April 14. What an exciting birthday! You can tell how excited he is in this picture.
He wanted to light the candles on his cake all by himself.
Oh baby. A skateboard.
A remote control race car. Yay for birthdays!

2nd Grade Music Concert
Aidan had his music concert April 4. He got to be a part of a quartet singing extra verses of Yankee Doodle. Unfortunately, I didn't take any videos that are small enough to upload on to Blogger. So pictures will have to suffice.
Surprise, surprise, Christian's and my kids are always on the back row. Aidan currently has two best friends. Zak is three kids to the left of him, in the bright blue shirt. Abby is on the front row, in the white shirt with bright blue cardigan. He loves hanging out with both of them.
Here he is as part of his quartet.
(Next would be Christian's birthday post. I didn't take any pictures. I suck.)
