Insult to injury

Dear world,
To add insult to leg injury, the vet told me I needed to lose weight. Mom and Dad came to my defense saying I lost over 10 lbs since coming back to San Diego.The vet said I need to lose at least 5 more lbs. So Mom and Dad said that we will go on a diet together.Rosy said she will take care of the treat basket.

Hoping for soft tissue

Dear world,
Yesterday I was having an absolute blast swimming at the beach. After about half and hour I felt an ouch and walked out of the ocean limping. I knew that was an uh oh. So after my bath Mom & Dad took me to the vet. She said no beach and limited walks for 5 days. If I am feeling all better, then it is a soft tissue injury , otherwise it may be a partial ligament tear and I'll be back at the doc. So I am hoping for soft tissues.

Wounded Warrior Surf

Dear world,

The other day on my beach walk I saw this crowd of people wearing wet suits and lots of surf boards. I walked over to see what was going on. It was the Warrior Athlete Surf Clinic for men that have lost their limbs in war. I watched as amputees went out surfing. Wow! How incredibly amazing! They had the biggest smiles on their faces as they went out and came in. The Clinic is held in Del Mar every Thursday morning. I think I will go back next week again and cheer them on.

Beach Princess

Dear world,

For Princess Week, Rosy finally decided she wanted to be a Beach Princess. So she adorned herself and went to the beach. Two girls immediately came over to admire her. So she figured they must be her ladies in waiting. Then she saw a box of pizza and asked that she be disrobed, and her ladies obliged. Then her ladies went over to get some pizza, but did not give any to Princess Rosy. So she decided she must have mistaken the mean stepsisters for ladies in waiting.

World Penguin Day

Dear world,
Yup, this is a real celebration day! Every year, on April 25th , as the days get darker in Antarctica, the Adelie penguins start their annual migration. They dive into the freezing waters and swim north for only a few hundred miles . So they really don't go very far but stay bobbing in the ocean among floating icebergs , nomming on penguin delicacies.
So lets celebrate Penguins today, visit them at a zoo, or maybe walk with a waddle, wear black and white or put on a tuxedo!

Princess Week

Its National Princess Week. So of course this has put Rosy in quite a tizzy. She wants to dress up as a Disney princess but she cant decide who she wants to be.. Roselle? Rosiana? Rosunzel? Rosielle? or Roserella? Poor Rosy. What a dliemna.

Horsing around

The other day I saw the strangest thing. I was on my regular walk near my house, and there were three horses also taking a walk ! Well I thought I would be neighborly and say hello. I followed them but couldn't catch up. But I almost stepped in giant poop! Not very neighborly of them not to pick up after themselves.

Save the Planet

Dear world,

Today is Earth Day. So Rosy, Bunnybell and I had a meeting to discuss what we could do to help save our planet. And we thought of something perfect! By each of us not having a bath after the beach. we could save a lot of water. I approximated at least 30 gallons (not to mention all the electricity to blow dry Rosy's ears!) So we protested. Save the planet, stay dirty.

Fiji

Yesterday I met a new friend, another Golden Retriever, Fiji. But this time, finally, it was a boy ! Everyone said we look so much alike and we are both nine years old. So we decided to play a trick and act exactly the same so the humans couldn't tell us apart. Can you tell which one is me?

Contemplation

Dear world,

The other day Mom took Rosy and I for a walk to our favorite park. So I went to my bench and took Rosy with me. I thought it would be nice to teach Rosy to contemplate. I told her to stare out into the ocean and contemplate life. Then I asked her what she was thinking. She said she was wondering how many tuna sandwiches were in the ocean. She is so weird.

National Cheeseball Day

Surf lesson

Dear world,

The other day on my walk , I passed by these girls in wet suits on the beach. One of them was laying down on a surf board while the others watched her. I was intrigued. So I walked discretely over trying to listen in. I know, a bit rude. Anyway, turns out that the girl on the board was a surfing teacher. So I stayed and listened for a bit. After all, I still am interested in learning to surf. And yes, I do have my very own surfboard. Yes. Really.

Dash to School

Dear world,

We really miss our Memphis friends. I don't know if you remember my golden retriever neighbor puppy Dash, but now he is a big boy! He even got to go to school with his human sister for her birthday. Speaking of school, I was planning to help teach Dash. I wonder who is teaching him the Golden Rules?

Sunset questions

Dear world,
Last night I watched the sunset. While watching it got me to thinking... where exactly does the sun go when it sets? And how does it know what time to rise in the morning? And if there is only one sun, how can it be seen all over the world? I have so much to learn. Its so annoying that all they teach is obedience at dog schools. What would a dog do without Google.

Bunnybell Birthday Party

Dear world,
Today is my niece Bunnybell's birthday. Rosy thought it would be nice if we could do a surprise cafe lunch party for her in town. She said she would handle getting everything - the flowers, presents, hat and cake. I told her she forgot something. She couldn't imagine what. I told her she forgot to make arrangements to get Bunnybell down to San Diego! So much for Rosy's party planning capabilities.

Matzah treat

This week is Passover. So while Mom was having her Matzah, she prepared us our own Matzah treat. Mom spread peanut butter on my matzah. Yum! Rosy got cream cheese on hers since she doesnt like peanut butter. But she wondered why her piece was so small compared to mine.

Easter beach

Dear world,
Mom decided this year we should do something new for Easter. So to celebrate our being back in San Diego we had an Easter Egg hunt on the beach ! While of course it was fun, I would much rather have been collecting tennis balls in my basket.

Easter Eggosaurs

Dear world,
Yesterday Mom decided it was time to do our Easter eggs. So out came the eggs, the bowls, the dye, the eggs in the colored water and then we saw something different. Are those dinosaurs Mom? Yup. Mom said we were making Eggosaurs. It was really fun and we love the Eggosaurs. I could have done without my new baby chick slippers though.

Stay and smell the flowers

Dear world,

Mom has been really busy with stuff lately and like a typical Mom, stresses about all sorts of things. So today on our walk I told Mom to "stay". Then I stopped to smell a flower and suggested she should too. It made her smile. And in that moment, all her stress melted away. Wouldn't the world be a nicer place if everyone stayed and smelled a flower once a day?

Nothing's cooking

The other day we went on an errands with Mom and Dad. We went into this one place that had lots of big kitchen stuff. So Rosy and I went down the aisles that had ovens and grills. We sniffed and sniffed, but didnt get any nose hits of food. How weird. All this kitchen stuff and no cooking. What's with that?

Albert

Dear world,
The other day at the beach I met Albert. I asked if he wanted to play with me, but he doesn't like to swim nor like to fetch. He was interested in playing with Rosy. She walked by and said "Seriously?" and proceeded to walk away. Dad wanted to play with Albert, but the feeling wasn't requited. That's good, cause its a bit dangerous. Albert stepped on Dad's toe and he needed a bandaid.

Bear Republic

Dear world,

The other day on my walk, I passed by this box and bottle that peaked my interest. It said Bear Republic ! How did I not know there was a Bear Republic? So I googled and learned that it is a Brewing company and a Brew Pub Restaurant located in Northern, California.. So now I want to go and visit the Republic of my namesake and propose expansion into Southern California where I live. Perhaps then I could brew Bear Beers (non-alcoholic and pizza flavored of course).

Basketball Fan

Dear world,
Everyone seems to be basketball crazy this weekend. Mom brought home this foam basketball and told me it is a hat for my head. I said HaHaHa, and I was waiting for her to say April Fools. Nope. There it went, on my head. So now I am Bear, the basketball fool, I mean fan.
