Heaven in the Hyatt....

When traveling I really HATE staying at old, dirty hotels. I hate bugs and the thought of them crawling on me while I sleep...well, I'm a girl what can I say. So, before we took our trip Aaron, Terry and I did our research and chose a Hyatt hotel by the Galleria that was almost brand new... to me new=nice and no bugs...OH....I WAS SOOOO WRONG! While Aaron and I went to go get milk for Kylie, Peggy was busy fending off a huge cockroach that Kylie had spotted on the wall. She managed to have it squished ALL over the wall by the time we came back. Ok, so the picture below is an exageration but still....I hate those HUGE cockroaches...or any roaches for that matter.

The management was very kind and changed our rooms, gave us free parking and some water and snacks to make up for Peggy's bravery. But I still can't believe how BRAVE Peggy was...she was definitely my HERO that night.

NASA

Last Saturday we went took a trip to Houston...to be real tourists. We started the day out by going to NASA. The kids had fun playing with all the gadgets and the adults loved learning about space travel. There was a ton of things for the kids to do and play with. We ended the NASA trip by taking a tram ride to Historic Mission Control and Rocket Park...although it took FOREVER...it was really cool to hear all about Apollo 13. So much so that when we got home we had to rent the movie again!

Birthday Overload....

I say birthday overload because in the month of May and 1st week of June we celebrate birthdays for Josh, Sarah (my sister), Aaron, Annie (my good friend), Katie (my cousin here in Houston) and Peggy (aka...Grandma). We started out this long week of birthdays on Friday night with a suprise party for Aaron and Josh (for Josh since Grandma and Grandpa were not here to help celebrate). We headed out to Texas Roadhouse and had great steaks and then on home for the goods. Here are a few shots of the surprise party...

Grandma and Grandpa are here!!!!

Grandma and Grandpa arrived in College Station on Wednesday night. We have been filling our days with pure fun ever since. So far we have enjoyed a sunny day by swimming and going to the park twice (they love the park). Today we painted pottery and had birthday celebrations. Pictures from the birthday celebrations will be on a future post. Thanks for coming and playing...we are having a lot of fun so far... grandma and grandpa.

Mimi's presents came!!!!

For those of you who don't know...my grandpa myers has been in the hospital for over 3 weeks. He started out with what he thought was a cold...but was congestive heart failure...luckily they caught it early and started dialysis (he has type 2 diabetes and we knew this was coming) which helped a ton! During all of this though, they found a tumor on his kidney so he stayed in the hospital and took it out on May 1. (It was not cancerous!) There were a few scary moments, at one point I had a plane ticket booked for me and the kids for the next morning to go back to Michigan, but luckily and through lots of prayers and blessings....I never had to use the ticket and he is doing MUCH better.

I am amazed at my mom's courage and strength through all of this. My dad has been an angel and since he is home now...he really stepped up and my mom was able to help care for my grandpa and take care of Meagan. My mom is now staying every night at the hospital, which is an hour away.

Also, through all of this she remembered Josh's birthday and even sent him presents! I am so lucky to have a mom like her! Her package arrived today and Josh was so excited. As he opened each present...he kept saying...How did Mimi know I wanted this??? So Mom, here are the pictures of Josh living it up...also Kylie loved her presents too! She is a Tinkerbell fan as you can tell by everything she has!

If you can't stand the heat....get outside!

It is already so hot here! So hot that yesterday it felt hot in the house at 74...with the air full blast! So we decided to play in the water. The pictures are pretty self explanatory...

Josh is 5...

Josh turned 5...can you believe it...because I can't. We started the day by going to a playplace named Bounce. That was so fun. The kids were able to jump on huge inflatable slides, obstacle courses, etc. By the time we left Josh had found a friend named Josh (also 5) and he was dripping with sweat. Kylie is also becoming a professional jumper...that's all she does...jump, jump, jump and then more jumping.

For lunch we went to McDonalds...yum, right? Then we waited for dad to come home to eat dinner and open presents. Josh really wanted to go to Red Lobster and get a whole lobster...and I know I'm the birthday grinch but we found out it was closed. (not really) So sad. We ended up having Taco Bell...another yum?

Don't worry, on Friday night we went to a real mexican resturant and he was able to wear a great big red velvet hat and everyone in there sang happy birthday to him.

Aaron had a tradition growing up of the non-birthday child getting one present...so while we only have one other child...we are continuing this tradition...so they don't feel so left out.
