Fast Church???

On Sunday, February 5th,
Jaxson came to church with us.
As always, he always enlightens us.
Just after we sat down,
he heard someone mention that it was
FAST SUNDAY!
Jaxson got really excited and said,
"Does that mean
Church is going to be Fast?"
(I guess that depends on how hungry you are.)
Thanks to Jaxson
for making Church
so fun.

Birthday Wishes from the Past

While going through a box of keepsakes
from before I got married,
I came across a treasure.
It was a birthday card from my
Grandma Kohler and Aunt Ellie & Uncle Kay Robins.
I recognized their individual handwriting
and felt their love.
Every year, as long as I remember,
Grandma would send me a card with a $5 bill inside.
Aunt Ellie and Uncle Kay also sent a card with a $1 bill inside.
(Later Aunt Ellie & Uncle Kay sent a $2 bill.)
I remember Aunt Ellie telling me it was to go get an icecream cone.
As I remember, Grandma said to save it
for something special.
(I may just may go have an icecream cone in Ellie's memory today.)
(I had forgotten that as Grandma got older
Aunt Ellie helped her get her cards ready to send
and they started to send their card together.)
After Grandma passed away,
Aunt Ellie and Uncle Kay continued to send,
all 53 of us, a card and a new $2 bill
on our Birthday!
This continued until a couple years ago,
as Aunt Ellie and Uncle Kay became
unable to do this themselves.
Even though I was one of Grandma's 53 grandchildren
and Aunt Ellie's 53 nieces and nephews,
I always knew these women loved me.
I always felt I was a "favorite."
I now know that many others shared
that feeling of being their "favorite."
I feel so blessed to have been loved
Grandma Kohler and Aunt Ellie.
I have learned much from their examples.
I hope I can be like them.
I love you, Grandma.
I love you, Aunt Ellie.
I put the card and money
back in the envelope
so I can find this treasure once again.
