Kenny K Skateboarder - something a little different!

The challenge at Through the Purple Haze this week is 'Funky' & the sponsor is Kenny K. I love Kenny K's images & there are so many of his that fit the 'funky' category that it was hard to choose.

I was lucky enough to win Airborne a while ago & decided he fitted the bill perfectly! For some reason I came up with the idea of him jumping through some stars & making a really 3D Card (you know how my brain works - it never goes for the obvious!). It was a bit of a challenge but with the help of you trusty Cougar electronic machine I made it work. I made all of the base with stars designed in Inkscape, then layered them up and cut out and coloured Airborne. with my Promarkers.

At an angle you get a bit more of an idea of the angle at which he's jumping out of the card!

From above you can see how I've built dimension in with foam pads between each of the stars.

I made a stand at the back to help keep the stars standing upright.

I used a card stack from Lidl to make the stars and some silver mirri card on the base to add impact.

Promarkers Used:
Skin - Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush with Pastel Pink cheeks
Hair - Tulip Yellow, Gold, Raw Sienna
Eyes - Sky Blue, True Blue

Helmet & Board - Red, Berry Red, Crimson, Burgundy
Jacket - Green, Lush Green, Pine
Jeans - Cobalt Blue, China Blue, Midnight Blue
T-Shirt Accents - Sky Blue, True Blue
Wheels - Ice Grey 2, Ice Grey 5, Black

I hope you like him. He challenged my brain a bit to make him, but I'm really pleased with the result.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Back to School - Simply Betty

Simply Betty bought out some wonderful Teen Scene Back to School digis and I fell in love with them! I Study Hard Rio in particular caught my attention as although she's school themed she can also be used for other things :D Like me she looks very happy tucked up with a book.

The Simply Challenged Blog's theme this fortnight is 'Back to School' so I thought I'd colour her up and enter. The Theme at Through the Purple Haze Challenges is a bingo board where you have to choose three elements in a line running vertically, horizontally or diagonally.

My heart sank when I saw that most of the lines contained 'Three papers'! Using patterned papers isn't one of my strong points, but I'm up for a challenge so decided to put my big girl pants on and give it a go. This is the result:

As you can see I chose the top left to bottom right diagonal with Bling, Three Papers and Sentiment

The patterned and plain papers are from the It's Elementary Digi Pack at Jessica Sprague

I coloured Rio with my Promarkers:

Skin - Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Pastel Pink Cheeks,
Hair - Tulip Yellow, Sunflower, Gold, Raw Sienna
Top - Turquoise, Marine, Petrol Blue
Skirt - Bright Orange, Orange, Burnt Orange
Books - Burgundy, Olive Green, Spice, Sky Blue, Tulip Yellow, Buttercup

I hope you like her :D I'd love to hear what you think.

I'd like to enter Rio into the following challenges:

Flowers and Butterflies .... part 2

I had such fun playing along with the Butterflies and Flowers challenge with Ribbons Fairy from  Saturated Canary  that I thought I'd try her with a slightly darker sky to show up her colours better. I can't decide which version I like better.

This one

Or this one?

I still can't decide!

Skin - Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Pastel Pink Cheeks
Hair - Bright green, Canary, Yellow, Buttercup

The sky in the top one is Sky Blue, in the bottom one it's Powder Blue

Butterflies and Flowers

Wow! I'm so over the moon to have been awarded Top 3 at Through the Purple Haze Challenges for my Tag card!!! It really made my day as I'd slightly lost my confidence with my cards for some reason. Thank you so much lovely DT ladies.

The challenge this week is is Flowers and Butterflies. As you all know I'm lucky enough to be on the Samaflora Design Team for 3 months and as I'd just received my next delivery of flowers I had lots to choose from. I decided to use the lovely Poppies. I'd seen the new Fairies released by Saturated Canary this week & thought Ribbons Fairy would look rather cute peeking out of a bunch of poppies.

I used my Promarkers as always:

Skin - Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Pastel Pink Cheeks
Hair - Bright green, Canary, Yellow, Buttercup
Dress - Forest Green, Lush Green, Bright Green, Leaf Green
Leaf - Holly, Pine, Lush Green

The butterflies are clear stamps from a Penny Black set x

A Taggy Happy Birthday

It's that time of the week again - challenge time over at Through The Purple Haze.  I must admit I've enjoyed being challenged to make something each week & so far I've managed to keep up with it. This week the theme is 'A Card with Tickets or Tags'. I decided to go down the Tags route and recreate a card I saw on Pinterest ages ago & have been meaning to make my own version of.

I made a tag design in Inkscape and cut it and the letters on my Cougar Electronic Die cutting machine from Thyme Graphics.

Plain and simple but the design really caught my eye when I first saw it, and I'm pleased with how it's turned out. I have the perfect recipient lined up for this Saturday so it was well timed too.

I've love to hear what you think.

Sweet Summer

A very early start for me today as I was awake at 4am for no apparent reason! When it got to 6am I gave up trying to sleep & got up, so crafting started early! It's hardly a hardship with lovely images to play with though.

This week's challenge digi at The Stamping Chef's Facebook Page was Sweet Summer. I again combined it with the inspiration photo from Just Inspirational Challenges.

Here she is

I again used the 'sunkissed' skin tone I tried last week - cocoa, cinnamon & tan with rose pink cheeks.

Her dress is sky blue, azure & true blue with arctic blue on the under skirt. I thought this along with the sentiment tied in nicely with the inspirational photo.

Her hair is buttercup, yellow & canary - nice and summery.

The sentiment is from Ginger's House

I really hope you like her & would love to hear what you think x

I would like to enter her into Paula Holifield Crafts Summer Sun Challenge
