New Year's Rockin' Eve!

Who needs Dick Clark baby (wow, did I just date myself?) when you have ROCK BAND!!!

Everybody put your hands together for the All Girl (plus one toddler) New Year's Rockin' Eve Band! Amy on vocals, Tina on bass, Marcie on lead guitar and Pearl Jam on drums!!! Here we are doing our cover of the Go-Go's WE GOT THE BEAT!!!! And of course, Lonny "Slow Hand" jams it out and plays it cool! Somebody once told me that Connor looked like a little Paul McCartney...I always thought it was because of the almond shaped brown eyes, but it turns out it's because, like Sir Paul, Connor is a master of the left handed bass (Sesame Street edition)
Connor and Caden in a "jam"

Connor, the multi-hyphenate, decides to switch it out and dazzle us on the drum kit!

May your new year totally RAWK! Thanks for checking in with me...here's to a blog-happy 2009!!! Love you!!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone has a great time tonight, ringing in what HAS to be a wonderful year ahead....We will be playing Rock Band (what better way to start out?) with our AWESOME friends, Mike and Marcie! Be safe and see you next year!!!

Christmas Pics

Here are some photos of my little family opening their gifts....consider the noticeable absence of pictures of me....that would be because I am the only one taking pictures! Lonny handled the video end of things, mainly filming me struggling to get Connor's presents out of the friggin' packaging (you need a degree, a sharp knife and the number to the nearest Insta-Care handy!)

Following in the footsteps of his daddy and Grandpa, Connor gets a "vroom vroom" What self respecting toddler biker doesn't wear Daddy's new Harley gloves?

Christmas Kate
Lonny opens his brand new IPOD Touch!

It was a Christmas filled with trains and coaches and cars (Oh My!). This year I bought most of my own gifts, so there wasn't too much to open (though I wrapped some of them anyway) yet Lon still managed to surprise me with a few things anyhow (a digital picture frame featuring every photo-documented moment of my child's life)and I have only seen the top of my husband's head for the last few days as he is busy loading stuff on his new gadget (1017 songs and counting!). But it was also filled with gratitude for this little blessing we call Connor, for our wonderful family and friends that we love so much, the neighborhood we live in, and each other. And renewed hope as we look to the New Year and pray that our next little one, the one who is truly meant to be with us, is coming home to us soon. Hope you had a magical holiday and that the heart of the season lasts throughout the year.

Call the Doctah!

I seem to have developed a case of "sitonyerbuttitis".... a condition that many have, but few will admit to. It effects everyone a little differently, but mine seemed to onset through reading and posting on blogs and through my new Facebook addiction. Yike! I need a cure....Christmas stuff is starting to pile up all around me and I am going to get buried here if I don't get up and dig myself out of the computer room....Help!

BTW....thank you for all the CD requests through posting, phone calls and in person....the final cut is almost ready...I am going to test out the not so final cut at Marcie's NY party...and just a reminder, some of it is pretty loud, rockin' music....you may want to protect your children's ears before listening to make sure there will be no decible damage.

Anyway, I am going to work on peeling myself off this chair. One...two...three! Nah, it's too comfortable. I need professional help!! What gets you out of your pajamas during the holidays??

Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays to you all, hope you have a wonderful day...

And Mom, it was 19 years ago today that you joined your Savior in Heaven. We love you, we miss you today and always, and are thinking of Connor's Grandma who lives with Jesus.

Love to everyone!

Christmas Eve

We have had a wonderful time so far.....first we went to our neighbors house, who do an amazing Nativity scene every year...including, live amimals (as Connor would say). They do a reading of the Christmas story and there are bon fires and hot chocolate. This year they had the cutest Christmas donkies!

Then we headed over to Connor's Nursery teacher's house....they have the most amazing TRAINS you have ever seen! Connor was enthralled and enjoyed playing conducter yelling "Choo Choo" whenever they came around the bend...

It is just about time to put our little guy to bed, while visions of amimals and trains, dance in his head. And while he is in his bed snuggled up tight, we'll say
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!

Oh Ho Ho So Close!

Happy Christmas Eve! Be sure you check back and see Santa's progress...

Get Your Jingle On

Today was the Winter Program at Connor's school! Mom, the ultimate groupie, got there early and jockeyed successfully for a front row seat. You could feel the excitement charging though the air like electricity...this was going to be a SHOW!!!
The Twos came out in single file, all carrying jingle bells. Connor shook his the best (this comes from lots of practice with Santa at the ward party)and most enthusiastically. After months of practice at school and singing "Jingle Bells" at the top of his lungs at home, it was time for the big moment....which sorta came and went. Not one of them actually sang the song. Some cried, some stared in wide eyed terror. Our little man did neither. And for that, I consider the concert a screaming success!!!
Hey, lemme in, I'm with the band!
Nothing beats the pre-show jitters like standing ohsoclose to Miss Andrea's leg

Future "American Idol" - does this kid have heartthrob written all over him or what!!!

Place Yer Orders

One of the few good things that has happened lately is that my band (Atomic Amy and the Spent Rods) has recorded the demo CD and the final mix will be ready any minute! If you would like a copy of your very own, get a hold of me and let me how you would like to receive it....I can send you a zip file (look at me the big old techno-geek) or burn you a CD! The only condition is that you play it for anybody who will listen!!

Walk You Home

I have been thinking about all of my beautiful friends who have been so supportive over the last month and a half....
Music is such a healer...it has been INSTRUMENTAL (pun intended) in getting me back on the road home (inch by inch). I thought about this song today...it is on my playlist below. Listen to it and know that it is dedicated to all of you amazing women (and guys)who have prayed for me, wrote encouraging messages, held my hands, handed me kleenex, offered to repaint the baby's room, made me go out for pedicures (that one was tough, I know), allowed me to cry, allowed me to breathe, listened to my darkest thoughts then shooed them away, told me to write a damn song, understood that Christmas is the worst time in the world to have to sing because of all the songs about babies, helped me stand, gone through your own pain and still found comfort to give and just loved me. I simply don't have the words so I'll let Karmina say them for me. Have a wonderful day.

Get Well Soon

Father Pehrson, who is having surgery today....
My BFF Steph who is home recovering from surgery...
My beautiful Michelle who starts chemotherapy in 2 weeks....
Many good thoughts and healing light to you!

Because You Asked....

Alot of you have been asking how the big "video" shoot went on Saturday....it was so much fun! I still wasn't feeling top shelf (nor am I now, but getting better every day) but I didn't have to sing a note. It was kind of embarrassing at first, but once I let go, it was a blast. I can't believe people get paid to do that! I was feelin' it, gettin' my Beyonce on....Craig said I am more like Millie Vanillie...Ha Ha! I'll keep you posted...maybe I will be able to put a link to the finished product on the blog - if it isn't too mortifying! Thanks for asking....

Connor Meets Old St. Nick

Connor had the opportunity to meet and chat up Santa Claus a bit on Saturday night. His mom was unable to perform (stupid laryngitis) so Connor offered up the ham on behalf of the family.
He worked his way right to the front of the crowd and got to help shake the jingle bells while Santa led us in rousing song (those of us who could sing). Then, as Santa was working the crowd, Connor took the opportunity to steal his chair:

After Santa gently removed the cutest little elf ever, Connor was not exactly what I would call patient to have his turn on Santa's lap. Mrs. Claus kept him entertained and gave him some candy. Then it was his turn at bat. Santa asked Connor what he wants for Christmas.

Anyone who knows Connor, knows the answer to that "Trains and Tracks". Connor and Santa proceed to make train noises "Chooachuga Chooachuga Choo Choo!"

Our thanks to all of the parents who tolerated Connor being in all their pictures, and who watched him help himself to the front of the line. Connor, you see, is a bit naughty AND nice! (much like his Mama) Merry Christmas Santa!

Happy Birthday to Angela....We love you!

I'm Just Speechless!

Can you imagine....day 2 and I still can't utter a sound? Well I can but it sounds vaguely like a moose calling for his mate. Desperately. And I have a video to shoot with my band tomorrow!!!

The plan was for us to play along to the demo cd that we have been working on. Luckily for us, I happen to be the Fountain Lanes Bowling Alley Lip Synch Contest Champion of 1988 (with creds like that, who needs a stinkin' Grammy?) and if I might brag a little further, I think I still got it.

We will see....but in the meantime, please the good vibes flowing in my general direction. Thanks and happy Friday!

A Season for Hope

I know this is super short notice, but I wanted to make you aware of a happening tonight...music to get you into the holiday spirit and the opportunity to donate to a great cause.

Another wonderful, courageous woman that I have had the opportunity to get to know is fighting breast cancer. This is not the girl I have been blogging about, but a sweetheart that I have met through Lonny's family. Her name is Dana and her fight started about 3 years ago. She is doing well, but the battle has taken a financial toll.

There will be a benefit concert tonight for Dana by a popular local artist named Jonathan Caanan. I am not familiar with his work, but I have heard the name and I already love him for what he is doing for this awesome woman. Here are the details:

http://www.aseasonforhope.blogspot.com/

If you can make it, great - we won't be able to come, but I am looking into other ways to donate...I will keep you posted in case you are interested.

I don't get to see Dana very often, but she is absolutely lovely and has an amazing spirit. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, Dana and we are sure this concert will be a great success!!!

Alert the Media! Amy Can't Talk!

If you ever wanted a chance to take your best verbal shot at me, now is the time to do it! I can't defend myself!! I woke up this morning and I got nothin'!!! Good thing it's my day off....
I was a little hoarse yesterday and I had to sing last night- I barely made it through my song....it was scary! But after I was done, I could tell my voice was worse than it was before. So bad that I had a conversation with Ginnie that went something like this....

A: "Sheesh! Just call me 'Croaky'"
G: "Cookie? I mean, it's cute and all but why do you want me to call you that?"
A: Deep, hoarse sigh.

However, I do like the thought of being called "Cookie"!!! It IS kinda cute!

Anyway, it is quite a dilema for me not to be able to sing or talk. I am sure I will make up for lost time. Send me good positive vocal chord thoughts today....my son is taking full advantage of this and I need all the help I can get!!!!

"A Magical Christmas" Tree

My cute nephew's 2nd grade class had a tree in the Festival of Trees this year! The tree was decorated with little creatures made by the kids. If you would like to check them out click here:
http://magicalchristmastree.blogspot.com/

Cayden's creature is Sack - whose name is supposed to be Zack but he made his "Z" backwards! You can read all about Sack on his comments section.

Great job Cayden and a Merry Christmas to Mr. Roques 2nd grade class!!

What's On Your Christmas List?

I have been asked to compose a list of what I would like for Christmas.....I think you ALL know what that would be, but in a practical sense. Things my husband can go to the store and buy me. For abso-friggin-lutely the first time in my life, I am drawing blanks.....I usually have the list typed out, double spaced, spelling errors checked, with vital information such as from which stores they can be purchased and when they are most likely to go on sale. I even include helpful shopping tips ("go at 10:00 at night, stores are empty" "make sure you take a snack" , "stay away from the freak show that is COSTCO!" and for the love of Pete if you insist on going on Saturday afternoon "KEEP YOUR NBA ELBOWS UP!!") I am a girl who knows what she wants!!! But this year is a real head scratcher. Which probably means I have everything I need, but hey, I'll make a run to D.I. and make some more room. I just need some suggestions.....and I know everyone wants world peace (or whirled peas, take your pick), hunger to end or, something sassy planted in their flower beds. I want to hear from the Material Girl (and Guys -you are not excluded - it's just with the exception of Dave, who really wasn't Dave, I don't think I have had any guys post) in you. What are you asking Santa Baby to bring you?

Quote of the Day...

When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you......

Working on the Upbeat

I have been instructed - by a professional, no less - to engage in at least 3-5 pleasurable activities a day (no remarks from the peanut gallery, thank you SGC!!!) . I was given a pleasurable events list (known henceforth as "the list") with possibilities to choose from and blogging was one of them. This, I can do!

Speaking of SGC, it is time for a meetin'!!! I need the laughs and the chocolate (it's on "the list"). And by the way, I sing (also on "the list") at the old wardhouse in RS this Sunday, Enrichment on Wednesday and the Ward Party on Saturday. Need to see your smiling faces, please!

Kelli's father's funeral was amazing. How loved this man is! The place was packed to the rafters and I never felt so close to someone I didn't know. And Kelli gave her father's life sketch with a serene composure. The Spirit was strong and it was definitely with her.

My friend is out of the hospital and by all accounts doing great. The doctors feel that they got all the cancer and there is just an all around feeling that all will be well.

Here is an item for all of my older fellow Gen-Xers and Baby Boomin' friends.....
I have awesome friends who just moved from Minnesota to San Antonio (change in the weather, much?) . They are incredibly talented musicians and have joined a band that plays at a church out there (we really need to get on board with this.....) . Just two week-ends ago, they got to go to breakfast with a prominent member of the church....Ann B. Davis, AKA Alice from The Brady Bunch! I am pea green with envy........welcome to your new home in TE-HAS, Mullins, and congratulations on your brush with celebrity greatness!!!

I had an opportunity to speak with our adoption case worker at LDS today. I am sure she couldn't make out alot of what I was saying (still teary - I probably sounded a lot like the adults on the Peanuts cartoons), but it was good to touch base with her. I am determined to look forward to this new year and work harder than ever to bring our baby home to us. Because I know, he is out there. (Yeah, Steph, I said HE....if it's a girl, then I will be just as delighted! And repainting a nursery!) We will have an all new and improved profile up soon, I will keep you updated.

Thank you for the suggestions about getting in the Christmas spirit. I appreciate your comments and feedback. I will be back, it's just going to take a little time. I love your idea of service, Deidra (and wow, it's a pretty obvious one, THANK YOU for the reminder) and have decided to help out either the ARC of Utah's Giftbox program (they are desperate, just desperate!) or the Angel Tree at Macy's....(which means I can also fulfill another pleasurable activity requirement....shopping - and YES it's on "THE LIST")

I think that is enough rambling for today. And enough to satisfy my therapist. Have a wonderful week-end everyone!!! Again, I love you, I love you and I love you some more.

And BTW this is my 50th post. An anniversary of sorts. Thank you for all your support!

A Tough Day

Two of my closest and most awesome friends are having a rough day and need your prayers.

My sweet friend, whose name I can't mention yet, because she does not want everyone to know, is undergoing surgery today to battle breast cancer. She needs prayer for strength to fight. I know that she is very scared yet I also know that she is very brave. Please keep her in your thoughts today...you don't have to know someone to pray for them and make an impact! I want you to know, my friend, that I love you and I believe in you!!!

Another friend, Kelli - the cute girl in charge of my "heart attack" lost her father suddenly and unexpectedly a few days ago. Today is his funeral. My heart breaks for her - I know what it is like to lose your Daddy. We love you Kell and we are praying for you and your entire family.

Whew~I INSIST that there will be good news to post soon!

Connorisms

Just when I am at one with being down in the dumps, my little one has to go and say and do some somethings to make me smile...

We put up the Christmas tree with lights...(I am doing this Deidra style, because I love when she does this with her little guy Zack)

C: "Lights!!"
A: "Yes, Christmas lights, aren't they pretty?"
C" "I blow them out" and proceeds to blow on them like they are candles on a cake....

We are getting ready to go to the park. The T.V. is on and it is the beginning of "Miracle on 34th Street"

C: "What dat?"
A: "A movie is starting"
C: "Movie Cars?
A: "No, it's not 'Cars', it's a movie about Santa Claus"
Flash forward to us in the car
C: "Mommy, Katie (our Scottish terrier) not going?"
A: "No, she's going to stay home"
C: "Katie watch Santa Claus movie?"
The mental picture of my Katie dog watching a Santa movie, kind of helped me shoo the Grinch away just the tiniest bit....

At the park. Connor makes like he wants to swing on the monkey bars, but he isn't tall enough. I proceed to pick him up and move him towards them. He squirms and yells "No Mommy! Wanna get down". Once he has touched safely down he very patiently explains, "Mommy, I have to be careful". And my heart smiles. Because all my dire warnings and paranoid fears are sinking right in! My never-run-with-scissors-you'll poke-out-an-eye! You-are-swinging-too-high-you'll-break-your-arm! Don't-you-dance-on-the-table-top-you'll-fall-and-need-stitches (which actually did happen, I have the scar over my eye to prove it) mother is somewhere in heaven, grinning from ear to ear.

Thank you Heavenly Father for this boy who can make me laugh and smile when nobody else can. I love him so!

Got Christmas?

So, December is upon us, I can't believe it! Only 23 shopping days....and I could care less! In fact you can call me Atomic Scrooge.

Things have been hard....I don't want to complain, because really I shouldn't, but things have been hard. Some family members are moving away, I am still so very sad about the adoption falling through and a close, dear friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer (don't start me on the importance of the mam-gram again, ladies). I read that store employees are dying on Black Friday (gives it a whole new meaning, doesn't it) and that people are just being rude in general. I (for once in my life) don't feel like shopping, we are only doing the minimal Christmas decorations, and I am just plain tired. I feel like hiding under a blanket (although a cashmere one would be nice, hey Santa). Apparently the Grinch has come and stolen the entire holiday from my heart.

I have a beautiful little boy and I must must must pull it together for him! So I ask you....are you a natural born Christmas person, or is there something that helps you get in the spirit? Is it decorating, singing Christmas songs or a specific tradition? I know that I need to count my blessings. I know that I am supposed to feel the spirit of Christ. I know all of the things I should do. I want to know what it is that YOU do.

Share with me what makes Christmas for you. Because this is not who I want to be, and I need a hand up out of the self-pity pit!

In Concert!!!

UPDATE: My streak of really bad luck continues!! This concert is cancelled. Will let you know when there is another performance

I have very little information at this moment, except for a date....but Atomic Amy and The Spent Rods will be performing LIVE AND IN CONCERT on December 14th......It's a Sunday which I know is tough, but it was the only date that would work. I can tell you that it will be in the evening and that we will be performing with 2 other acts. There won't be a lot of advertising, we are all just supposed to bring our own crowd, so we need y'all out there. Save the date, if you can, details will follow ASAP!!!

Love Songs, Nothing but Love Songs

Atomic Amy and the Spent Rods have enlisted the assistance of a booking agent who specializes in wedding gigs. Now this is funny for a couple of reasons, the first being if you ever have seen the movie "The Wedding Singer"(which is frighteningly realistic).....then I need not say more. The other is because she asked us to put together a demo CD. This is great because we get to go into the studio!!! I love this process - you go in warts and all and you come out sounding so much better than you are....plus it means I will have something to share with anyone interested in hearing us. She has asked us to include a love song, something that the bride and groom might dance to for the first time as a couple. This is where it gets funny, and not just a little tricky. We realized that we don't do any love songs!!! We do lots of please-come-back-to-me-can't-live-without-you-I'm-dying here-honey songs. We do NOT do any I-love-you-I'm-so-glad-I'm-with-you-you-are-the-one-for-me-and-I'm-glad-you-haven't-left-yet kind of songs. We got nothing. Nada. Zip. And we have to do this on Saturday. I am feverishly working on Corinne Baily Rae's "Like A Star" because I begged, screamed and kicked for it. I am also working with them on "Songbird" as it is one of my favorite love songs and I sang it at my own wedding. The guys have tossed out a few (but not very many) so it got me to thinking.....what is YOUR favorite (slow) love song, and why? I would love to hear your suggestions.....looks like we need to beef up in that department and pronto if we ever hope to sing at weddings, right? So let's hear it! Trust me, all songs will be considered. But I have one rule, and I hope it doesn't offend, NO CELINE DION. Now let 'er rip!

Here Comes the Sun

We feel like the most blessed people in the world. We have been so enveloped in the arms of loving friends, it is almost too much to take. Flowers, gifts, plates of cookies, 12ers of Diet Coke and even a Movie Car (this is Connor's name for the little Lightening McQueen car that my SGC posse brought over for him, no one has been left out) Cards, phone calls, e-mails, texts, comments on the blog and in some cases, just the space we need that has expressed concern, love and most importantly, hope. We have appreciated it all.

Tonight however, was a little unique. The doorbell rang and Lon went to get it and there was sugar cookie mix with a little sign that just said "Hi". It was cute and we speculated on who the mysterious little gift givers could be. But at bedtime, after closer inspection, Lonny called me back to the front door ("Do I have to put pants on?" "Uh, yeah")

I open the door to discover.....

All over the grass closest to the door, all shapes, colors and sizes. Each one had a message of love and inspiration. According to the biggest heart, we were to call the doctor because we just had a "Heart Attack"! Our hearts are so full, we just may. Thank you to the beautiful Christensen family whom we love and adore. You are all amazing.

And that goes for everybody. Thank you for helping us to slowly see the light again, and to feel the warmth of the sun on our souls. I can't say it enough, we love you and we thank you. Brighter days are on the horizon, we just know it. Thank you for the continuous reminders.

Destination, Southern California!

As promised, here are some photos from our spur of the moment California trip! While traveling under some difficult circumstances once, my veteran world traveling, laid back no worries husband called me a Super Duper Trooper! One of the highest compliments you can get when journeying about, as far as I am concerned. I am very proud to say that my little boy also earned his Super Duper Trooper badge while on this trip. He had no preparation, we just put him in the car and headed south! We stayed in a beautiful hotel room overlooking Mission Bay in San Diego and could look out and see the boats in the harbor.

We were right across the street from Sea World and just up the road a spell from the world famous San Diego Zoo. We went to both. I learned that we probably would have been better off just going to the Balboa Park for free, because Connor was more interested in rocks then any wildlife or sealife. But there were a few things that caught his eye....
Connor had the most amazing encounter with a playful polar bear! We got to go right up the glass and see them swimming around underwater (you would be AMAZED at what good swimmers they are!). This particular polar pal decided to put on quite a show for Connor, complete with playing with his ball. It was so cool!

Connor also loves caves and getting in tight little places. My friend Elaine thinks he is going to be a spelunker (is there ANY chance I am spelling that right?) so when he found this little spot, he had to drag Mom and Dad in with him....

At Sea World there was a big old scene because for a mere $20.00 per person, you could go and eat breakfast with Elmo and Friends. We tried to walk past it casually, but Connor spotted Big Bird, took off running, broke through the security barriers and ran past all the kids who actually paid money, towards BB with his arms outstretched screaming "Big Bird Big Bird" (if you have ever seen the footage of those girls from the 60s seeing the Beatles, you will have an idea of what I am talking about). Big Bird was clearly confused as to what to do, he didn't want to have too much contact and royally cheese off the families who paid, so he just kind of waved at Connor and moved away. I was left to pick up the pieces of a screaming toddler. Because this all happened so fast, we only have video tape of the encounter and most of it is the heartbreak of a little boy and his mother crying because, well that's pretty much how I spent most of this trip! In otherwords, UGLY. But I digress. Later, in the Sesame Street Bay of Play, we were lucky enough to run into Elmo and Zoe! Connor ran as fast as he could right into Zoe's arms....it was so sweet! She held him for a super long time (it was if she knew we ALL needed it) and told him that she loved him. You can barely see him, he is lost in all of Zoe's wonderful monster furriness!

Then Connor got to meet the biggest rock star of all, ELMO!!!

I think the Big Bird incident was forgotten. I think. He now has a stuffed Big Bird.
Later, back at the pool, Connor tackled the slide ALL BY HIMSELF!!! He was such a big boy and loved it so much!

Finally, a trip to my parents graves so Connor could say hello to his Grandma and Grandpa who live with Jesus. This was difficult and though he won't remember it, I felt it was important. I miss my parents all of the time, but especially when things are hard. It helped alot to be back in the place where I grew up, back in the place with so many wonderful memories for me.

We feel so blessed that we had the opportunity to take this unplanned trip, to begin the healing process and make new memories. There have been many tears shed and much chocolate eaten (thank you Ginnie, Lisa, Marcie and Pearl for my new peanut butter M&M addiction - I can barely fit in my new Shamu Rocks! T-shirt, so again thank you very much) many prayers whispered. We still feel that our baby is out there. So again, I ask you to please keep your ears and eyes open. Please think of us and feel free to mention even the slightest little thing - adoption stories are incredible, even the ones that fall through. There are always, always lessons learned, even if they are hard. We love all of you so very much!

When The Going Gets Tough...

the Pehrsons get going! We have just returned from an impromptu trip to Southern California. We are doing as well as can be expected and enjoyed the time spent together as a family. We had exciting adventures at the San Diego Zoo and Sea World and I will post pictures in the next few days. We also took the opportunity to visit my parents gravesight in Huntington Beach (sorry my beloved Callies, there wasn't time for a visit - it just wasn't that kind of trip). We just wanted you all to know we have felt your love, and have appreciated the thoughtful gifts, phone calls, texts and e-mails. We are indeed blessed....it is good to be home. We look forward to what the Lord has in store for us.

Sadness

It is with great regret and heartbreak that we have to report that our adoption has fallen through. I know that you all love us and care about us and will want to know what happened, but it is much too difficult to discuss. We appreciate if you will just know that we are hurting beyond measure, and need time to heal and grieve.

Lonny feels certain, as do I, that there is a baby out there for us. We are holding onto that with all of our might and relying on faith, family and friends to get us through. Please just keep us in your thoughts and prayers...

Happy Election Day!

What an awesome opportunity we have to vote in such an interesting and historical election year....plus I heard you can get free Krispy Kreme and Ben and Jerry's if you vote - if that ain't incentive, I don't know what is! Have a great day and be safe out there, pretty heavy weather to have to go out and vote in, but just do it!!

How Could I Forget to Mention??

Happy November! This too is one of my favorite months (I know, I say that all the time), but really it is! But one of the best things about it is that it is National Adoption Awareness Month. Adoption has been such an incredible blessing in our lives, and that of Connor's amazing birthparents. I hear so many awesome adoption stories from all of my wonderful friends, and sometimes strangers, that I know that it is an extraordinary gift from God. And I know it beyond a shadow of a doubt. If you are one of those fortunate ones who has had adoption touch you in some way, please feel free to share (see my link to Adoption Stories below)..but most of all, please express your gratitude. And remember, Jesus too was an adopted son. And before I start crying my non-water-proof mascara into my keyboard, let me say thank you to all of you for your undying support and words of encouragement. You are all members of my extended adopted family! I love you!!

I'm Chimera, Hear Me Roar!

You Are a Chimera

You are very outgoing and well connected to many people.

Incredibly devoted to your family and friends, you find purpose in nurturing others.

You are rarely alone, and you do best in the company of others.

You are incredibly expressive, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by your strong emotions.

Because I Love You....

And because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I would like to encourage, no demand, that all my fabulous friends and sisters aged 40 or over go out and get your mammograms!!! I know, sounds like a fun way to spend quality time with yourself and I know you are thinking "I'd rather get a pedicure, thanks Aims" and quite frankly, so would I! But mammograms SAVE LIVES!!! I just got mine today, thank you very much and got me to thinking of all of the beautiful women in my life that I love and want to have with me for a very very long time. They are a little uncomfortable, but they are quick and painless. Okay, I'll be honest, as pain free as a squisher
can be. And nothing says you can't schedule a pedi after your appointment. So do both!!! If you haven't reached the FABULOSITY that is 40 yet, then please tell (don't ask) your friends, sisters, mothers, grandmother, aunties - whatever women in your life that are 40 and fierce to schedule a mammogram TODAY!
For more information, visit www.breastcancer.org BECAUSE I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
