Gym Class Heroes

This weekend we did some more traveling again. We went back down to Las Vegas to visit with Libby (and Rich), hang out by the pool, and go to the Gym Class Heroes Concert. Mallory's brother, Steven, came down from Rexburg and came with us too.

The concert Friday night was pretty fun. It was at the Hard Rock Casino in The Joint. Opening were a couple of good bands. The first was Cobra Starship. They were very animated and fun to watch. Apparently they have a song on the movie "Snakes on a Plane" and Samuel L. Jackson told them they had to do a certain "hand sign" for their fans during concerts. It goes like this: Make a peace sign with your right hand and bend the fingers a bit so they look like fangs. Next, take your left hand and put it directly behind it with your fingers spread out. This is the "Cobra Starship".

Anyway, The Academy Is performed next. They were decent too. We really liked Gym Class Heroes. The MC for "GCH" is Travis McCoy. He was really funny and made a lot of weird faces and sometimes started to unbutton his shirt because he thought he was sexy. They were a really entertaining group to watch.

Saturday morning was spent hanging out at the pool at the Marriott Resort. It was hot and relaxing.

By the way, if you didn't notice in the last post, i have a pretty gnarly farmer's tan. I just thought that maybe you'd like to blow up those pictures to admire it.

Later that evening we went to Luv-Its and got some delightful custard. Luv-Its is a Las Vegas must have. They make just about the best frozen custard around. Afterwards we went to the Stratosphere. We had never been up to the top before. It was pretty fun. I did one of the rides at the top too.

Finally, as we were driving on the way home we passed some teenagers who kept waving at meet. So, as I passed them I shared with them one of my favorite signs... the Cobra Starship!

What's Better Than Wake Surfing and Golf?

Mallory and I had a fun weekend. We finished the Spring Term at BYU, so we decided to go to Boise. We left on Thursday afternoon and picked up Holley in Salt Lake. She was doing some biz with CarMax. Anyway, we went to the Cafe Rio in Draper for lunch and as we were leaving Mallory says, "We need to pray before we get on the freeway so we don't get in an accident." I agree, but we can't pull over. The parking lot was super crowded and we were already in line to turn out of it. So, Mallory begins to pray as we wait in line. Soon there was an opening and I turned out into the left turn lane. However, I wasn't able to straigthen out completely. I was still kind of sideways. Then, the guy in front of us decides to back-up and let a vehicle from the other side of the street cross three lanes of traffic and turn the opposite direction. Well, needless to say, he backed right into us. He was in a lifted Chevy Silverado. His bumper slid under our side view mirror and actually lifted the car up a little bit. I started honking as soon as he started to back up, but the Corolla horn just squeaks a little. Oh, did I mention that Mallory was praying? Well, she decided to bust out a rare General Conference prayer... yeah... those ones that last 10 minutes, and she happened to still be praying when this occurred. I won't mention what she screamed in the middle of her prayer when she heard me honking, but it was pretty funny. Anyway, it looks like Mr. Silverado will be replacing our door.

When we got to Boise, we had a great time. I went golfing with Adam on Friday morning. We did 18 at Centennial Golf Course. Meanwhile, Mallory and Amy lied by the pool at the Rademacher's. Later that day, we went up to Lucky Peak and did some surfing on the X-15.

Hang Loose. About to throw in the rope to start shredding it. Notice the gnarly skull on my boardshorts.

Mallory can even rip it pretty well. I love my wife!

Little Gavin enjoyed his first day ever on the lake. He was really confused at first, but began to become familiarized with every aspect.

He was even my driver.

That evening we met up with Jimmi and Kaley Sparling. We went to the movie "Get Smart" with them. It was pretty funny. We enjoyed spending time with them.

Saturday was spent chilling with the grandparents and some more golfing. Adam, Dorn, and I went to Falcon Crest Golf Course that afternoon to do 18. However, on the 6th hole it started to get super windy and stormy. There was a lot of dust and then it started to rain. It got so windy and crummy that Dorn decided it wasn't worth it. However, Adam and I decided to stick it out. The rain only lasted two holes, and the wind was actually a lot of fun. There were times when the wind was on our backs and we would drive the ball close to, if not over 300 yards. We were usually left to a short chip after our drives. In all, it was probably one of the funnest times I've had golfing. It was challenging, but very exciting.

That evening we met up with my parents and saw "Iron Man." I would have to say that it is pretty much awesome and if you haven't seen it at least three times, then you are missing out.
