Goodbye London

Memories

The station nearest my house for 3 years, and Waitrose, the supposedly most posh supermarket that is available around our area.

South Kensington, tube station nearest to my hall of residence in 2002. Got me to Chinatown for the first time, got me to UCL for Hwa Chong Night dances practices.

Its a tour to Buckingham Palace with Hui min. Despite being here for 4 years, the landmark of England never received a visit from me. Its my first time there today.

Change of guards at the palace. Other than the ceremonial hat, the ceremony is disgustingly similar to the parades we have in Singapore.

At Westminister. Never took a close up shot of Big Ben in my 4 years here. Somehow.

Princes of Wales Theatre. Mama mia. A simple theatre which sits along the route from Chinatown to Picadilly. Where I spent my first Valentines with Hui Min.

Its a shame that in my first 2 years here, I didn't take a proper shot of this road. Princes Gardens. How things have changed. 'Ethos" now replaces the old gym and swimming pool. Gardens Hall was the first place I stayed at in London. Remember the Warcraft sessions, remember the drinking games, remember going paintballing with a few drunk guys...

Familiar grounds for a weekly wednesday floorball session. Prince Albert Memorial.

Again, a new look, vastly different from 2002. All because of Tanaka Business School. Remember that this is your entrance to the college when you were rushing to class from Gardens hall.

Remember the Saturday football sessions. Remember that you have to walk along Exhibition road to get to hyde park. Remember that this is the same route that brings you to Gardens from South Ken tube station.

A view that is ignored every wednesday when we are playing floorball. Royal Albert Hall. Where my convocation, which I am not attending, will be held.

Almost home to 41 Gloucester Road. Take a look around the corner and there's Queens Tower. Remember the view of Flaggellah from the top of it. Remember the irritating chimes that it makes. Remember that it is the trademark building of Imperial College.

Home. Remember the spooky, irritating lift in a doggy corridor.

The sunset during my last evening in London. Perhaps not surprisingly, it is the most beautiful one I've seen in London. Perhaps its to signify the set of my time here.

Scotland: The Hunt for Ness

Off we go to merry land, to my last tour of Europe as an undergraduate, accompanied by Hui Min! It was quite a short tour (13th ~~ 16th June), but we managed to pack quite a lot of activities into it.

On our way to Luton.

* Day 1 photos coming soon...

Day 2: Fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle. The military tattoo is held on its grounds yearly

Poor statue sitting in front of the Writer's Museum along The Royal Mile.

Yay! Us on Arthur's seat. We were taking photographs of each other and then this kind American old couple came along and offered to take a photo of us. Then she fussed over my camera trying to get a good shot of us. Thank you so much!

Calton Hill from Arthur's seat (with a 10x zoom camera *grin*) Both Arthur's seat and Calton hills were formed millions of years ago during to the landscape movement resulting from a volcanoic eruption.

The man of the hour. Every evening from 1800 this man would be playing the traditional bagpipes on the Princes Street Gardens. Hm and I don't think he is the 'real' piper used during the military tattoo. He should have earned his big bucks from his show every August.. don't think he needs to buck for more.

Day 3: Off we go on a tour to the highlands of Scotland. We had a chatty bus driver who talked and talked throughout the trip. Half of the stuff he said was pretty informative, and we actually learnt quite a bit of Scottish history from him. However, he have this low, booming voice that seems to be made deeper by the mike, and after a while (especially when we wanted to sleep), it became a lil' irritating =P

Ben Nevis in Glen Coe. Glen means a valley with steep hillslopes on both sides. Magnificent view!

And here we have the lucky duck that gets to travel the world with us :)

Pit Stop somewhere in Glen Coe for a photoshoot.

Ness finally appears! Nah, thats its statue outside the hotel that named itself Ness, but fittingly cos I think that's the only hotel sitting off Loch (Lake) Ness.

We took a lake cruise along Loch Ness. Although the cruise was pretty pricely, I have to agree with my tour guide that this is probably the best view of Loch Ness and Castle Urq.... all we need is Ness to rear its head to make me famous.

Somehow the monster that scared the dumb witts out of the poor villagers of the past has now become a national icon cum tourist magnet.

Day 4: The last day of the trip. Took a photo of the symbolic street of the old town of Edinburgh, which was where we stayed at. This road leads down from the Castle of Edinburgh all through to the Palace of the Queen.

Ok that more or less sums up an enjoyable 4 days well spent.

Time lock

Just came home from the last dinner with my housemates...

Pretty sad, but I am really glad to have chosen to stay with these bunch.. among my 4 years of stay my housemates this year have been the liveliest.. most birthdays were celebrated at our place (and I mean birthdays of most of the second years), numberous BBQs, World Cup TV screening, winning eleven and mahjong sessions etc.. sometimes it may had been a trifle too much, but its nonetheless really memorable.

Thanks guys and gal, for a really memorable year :)

~~~
Handed up my FYP report - which used up an entire black and an entire color ink tanks to print them last week - and thus concludes the second last hurdle. Now how am I supposed to talk for 30 minutes on this topic? I threw in all my diagrams into my ppt presentation and even with 50 odd slides, it seems impossible that I can talk for that long..
~~~

Will be leaving for Scotland tomorrow with Hui min, and will only be back on the 16th. I'll blog about my last trip then.

My last London Rainbow

Saw this in mid May and took 2 separate shots of it. Forgot all about it until Raymond came by and my housemates reminded me of it. Raymond helped to stitch it together for me, and our photog-pro works wonders!

I believe my last London rainbow is the largest and most beautiful one I've seen in my life so far.

~~~
I dun wanna leave London..
