Personality Traits

Personality test from Enxin's blog. How true do you think it is?

Oh yah.. I didn't mention.. I am a benevolent leader.. o.0

Studying

Hey Edwin, I think studying more applies to you. You resoluted to work hard to redeem yourself in these 9 weeks, but as I am mugging (well, and blogging) late into the night, starting on my 3rd module, you are playing mahjong at Zhifeng's place!

But DotA is a must la, the multiple kills here and then is a necessity for venting out at the various lecturers who threaten my sanity. Alvin found out a year ago that playing Unreal Tournament is a good escape, but that's way too much brainless gore for me.. run and shoot, not my type. A bit of strategy is good for the brain :)

Finale

Rojak: An ICSS musical, was concluded last Saturday, 18th March. After badgering the past committees for major event in the form of a musical unsuccessfully for the last two years, I finally gotten my wish! The story line was simple, but the music, acting, effort and team coordination was fantastic. Kudos to the organising committee for bringing out the talents of ICSS, and showcasing the unique culture of Singapore.

Lectures as an undergraduate ended. I am sure many would have said similar things by now, but well, its a milestone well remembered. After all, I had gone a long way arriving at where I am today. Easter holidays begin as of tomorrow, and while most people would be off travelling, I would begin mugging my head off for the final UG examination of my life. (Well, partially because I am too poor to be off to Europe as well, but luckily I have a thoughtful girl who planned a day out to Coswoth)

Bourton on the waters

The weather was.. freezing! Well, not to the extent of really freezing up the water at Bourton (Hor Hor Hor), but we did see penguins at the bird park. The only bunch on show in Britain! There were numerous other species on display, like the tickle-me-pink flamengos, Hedwig-lookalikes, etc. There wasn't much to be done there, but we enjoyed each other's company with a simple countryside setting.

There's gonna be a end of term BBQ at my place tonight. Probably a end of UG life BBQ for me too. Will post photos soon, before I isolate myself from the world, intend on ruining my brain with a month of mugging.

Congrats and thanks.

A chapter in ICSS closed, and another chapter opened. Just want to thank Rajesh, Chongwai, Jiamin, Grace, Edwin, Marc, Joy and Liangwei for making my final year in London, in ICSS, a sojourn I would never forget. Meanwhile, congrats to Cumarran, Alfonso and your 24th elects who will take over the reins of ICSS.

I am going to plagarise what Edwin wrote. It reflected how I feel for Singsoc. We feel the same way and are passionate for the same things. Perhaps that's the reason for my endless tormenting of this poor soul who ever so often reminds me that I'm his JC Class senior, his roommate, his EE Senior, his Air Force senior, etc.

It feels like a dream now that this 1 yr is over. We've surely had our ups and downs throughout the yr. As an Exco i think we've really done a great job and made ourselves proud. All these would not have been possible without the help of so many ppl in our cohort. The seniors and freshers played a part in our success as well of cos but i still think that a lot of credit has to be given to our batchmates. For all the sai gang they have taken on together with us, all the support for our events, whether they are involved directly or not.

And to make this 1 yr really enjoyable, of cos there's our 23rd exco to thank =) Guess we've at least definitely achieved one thing tat we set during our very first meeting: we're all frenz at the end of the 1 yr =) Without the jokes and nonsense from Marc, i guess meetings wun be as fun~~ Raj and CW at the helms of the society, debating over the best solutions to problems =P Joy, being herself, and bringing joy to us~~ Not to mention being the great (favourite!! one and only =P) sports officer who clicks so well with all the sports ppl, organising so much stuff~~ Liangwei, as the webmaster and our ever-so-convenient photographer =D and for providing lots of -_-" comments during meetings hahaha~~ Jiamin for being the efficient secretary and effective arrow-shooter; Mamit is God-like!! Grace for giving her usual -_-|||| and doing magic with our money, cos everytime ask her for money also can one~~ dun noe how~~

A great yr has passed and well if given the choice, i wouldn't change anything. Not a single part of it, not a single person from the committee, not a single event (be it success or failure) that we chose to organise, not a single memory that we share. As Cumarran said, it really gives uni life so much more meaning than juz drifitng thru with mugging and tests. Looking back, it is really experiences like running Rojak!, cooking potato salad in the middle of the night, rushing out powerpoints till 2am and walking back in the rain, having meetings till dun-noe-wat-time, skipping meals for elections, worrying about the success of events, asking/persuading ppl to help out/buy tickets/turn up blar blar blar...

Maybe this is wat keeps Joseph, Marvin, Kaileng, PC and some seniors going even as they reach yr 3/4. Itz about wanting to re-live the experience, passing on the legacy to ppl who choose to walk the same path. Serving a community which has provided us with a comfort zone few hundred thousand miles away from home, and helping others who were like ourselves settle in and be comfortable with a new environment, a new phase in their lives.

Here's wishing the 24th ExCo all the best, hoping that they get the same if not greater support as compared to us. And hopefully our support can go to them as well. Hope to still see our exco ard cos now that we wun have the meetings to provide a reason for the 8 of us to get together, we'll almost definitely see less of each other... Hope this wun be true?? =P

Despite me being the only one from the 21st Committee left in IC this year, we kept in constant contact, meeting up whenever we could, and emailing each other during birthdays. That in spite of us being split over 3 continents. To the 23rd: Treasure the bond you made as a committee.

AGM and Elections

Have to organise the HC Alumni UK elections soon. Have a few potential candidates in mind of course, but it's up to them if they want to represent the alumni. The candidacy would be open to all alumni members in UK, but I would much rather have members who have already proven their willingness and passion in helping new members coming to Europe.

On that note, I am looking at quite a number of "low key" members of ICSS who are running for executive members. I guess the very first step in serving the Singaporean community in IC is to BE active, so if you aren't, it's really hard to convince me (or anyone else for that matter) to hand you our votes.

If you need a role model on what being active entails, learn from Marvin.

Credits where credits' due

Let's start with the happier part of this post: IC Floorball team

Well done to all IC floorballers! (Changyong, Charlene, Chongwai, Clement, Eunice, Han Yan, Hockboon, Kailun, Klement, Matthew, Joseph, Sebastian, Wilson, Yoke Peng) Despite all the aggression and the murderous intents of the UCL and King's floorball team, we managed to shrug off all attempts at homicides and showed the crowd some real floorball, and emerged once again, as the champions of London! Well done people.

Now, well done to my lights and sound crew for PIE and Spoilt too! (Justin, Liling, Gerard, Winnie, Fidel, Weiying, Changyong, and my two stage managers Laraine and Shujun). Perhaps because I learnt productions and theatre functionings from 黄城, where without lights, sounds and props, the production would be simply a failure, even if we have a cast full of professionals. Despite the hard work put in by the crew, and the longer hours they spent at the theatre slogging, physically preparing props, mounting lights, enduring the multiple last minute changes demanded by the directors and producers, they were simply, forgotten. That's something I cannot accept based on 黄城 standard.

Jiaying: What I meant was that we recognise the efforts that our backstage crew put in. Imagine if you and Boon didn't have Gerald, Meiting, Gabriel and company. But somehow I was given the feeling that in this production, success belonged to the cast.
