What is Greater?
I get this thought of how I want to do a Bible Study of my own, and so I wonder is that the greater thing that God wants me to do. But again I am flooded with doubt and unbelief. Maybe it's just my thought and not God's calling for me. Would anybody come, and if they did - what if they knew more than me?
Greater could be me writing my own book that inspires thousands - But there are so many books, somebody has probably said what I would want to say and then people would think I was copying them.
Greater could be me going to schools and other places teaching girls to be confident and trusting in Gods label for them not the worlds.
Greater could be working with and helping women that have and are being abused. Help them to find a better physical, but more importantly spiritual place to live.
Greater could be getting involved in helping to stop modern day slavery and sex trafficking.
See all of these things are tender in my spirit. All of these thoughts have come to me over and over. So are they Greater? Are they the greater things that Jesus is talking about in John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." Maybe, but not yet! That's because they are still sitting right where they started, as a thought in my head and my spirit.
Only a couple chapters into the book Greater I believe any of these could be greater. But greater takes some action. My life doesn't become greater without participation on my part. These greater things I have listed above don't just happen, I have to do them.
So as I am wrapping this up and fighting the second thoughts of how this post should go...
Greater to me will be me coming to the point where I step out and do the things God has called me to do. Greater will be looking at the list and knowing God wants me to do something, and not questioning if it's just something I dreamed up.
Blessings to you all on your journey to Greater!

Greater Chapter 1
Pg 14 "And it's important to embrace the journey, because the destination is a mirage."
That really gave me an image. We are never done concerning our work for the kingdom. Because once we get to where we thought we were going, we are ready to go to another level of responsibility. God just gives us bite size pieces to chew on at a time, so that we don't get overwhelmed.
Enjoy your Journey today, because tomorrow may bring another.
Blessings,
Lynn

Touch and be Done
So after I got done with my oatmeal bowl, I took it over to the sink and started filling it up with water. Imediately I started having this debate in my head whether or not I should rinse and put int the dishwasher or if I should do it later. I started thinking about all my husbands and my talks with the kids about "No Procrastination- just get it done, then you don't have to think about it."
See when I leave something like that I have to create a reminder in my head to come back to it - I call them "Post - it" Notes on my brain.
Then I thought of other people I know that do that all the time. Practically everything they touch they do it half way and then go back to it. So God gave me a vision of how that played out in different roles and positions in life:
What if I was a brain surgeon - I did a little snip here and a poke there, then I decided to leave the operating room and go check on another patient and check a few charts ....
You say well - I was just leaving a dish it's not as important as brain surgery. But -
What about a cook at a restaurant? They get an order for a burger and fries. So they throw the fries in the hot oil and then decide they will go bake a pie. Other than the dangers of burning the place up, the person that ordered the burger has to wait a very long time for their food.
So then I thought about my job, an office job and I say to God, I get your point but it doesn't directly relate to me because i have an office job. Nobody is going to die (brain surgery), or go hungry (Cook) if I leave something for a day or two. And like always God had something to say about that as well. He agreed (about the dying and hungry), then he gave me the analogy of a production worker on an assembly line. And told me that each of us are a part in the big circle of life, an assembly line so to speak. Everything, let me repeat that, Everything we do in life affects someone in one way or another. If we delay doing something, it delays something else. Anything we step over or walk around and don't attend to is something someone else has to do. It's as if we are saying my time is more important that yours so I'm leaving the work for you to do. Anything you don't do means someone else has to do it.
What would happen if we deciced to clean a mess up that we didn't make, just so someone else didn't have to. We see a need and take care of it. Now let me remind you that there is a difference between helping and interferring, Doing your part does not mean you get into others space, it just means you take care of your stuff so others don't have to pick up your slack.
What would happen if everyting we touched we purposed in our lives to touch it and be done with it. Would it clear some of that mental clutter in our brains, all those mental reminders and post-it notes. Would we find that it actually gave us some extra time because we didn't have to review what it was that we left behind and then start back up again? Would it help us to be more calm and peaceful because of that lack of clutter in our minds? Hmmm
Shall we give it a try?

Wisdom Chooses
- Now let me put a tiny little disclaimer in before I finish this post. I do know bad things happen to good people - and that not everything that happens to us and around us in our fault, or our doing or within our control.
God said things of this world would come against us. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) Be self controlled and alert your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
So now that I have the disclaimer out of the way I want to take a look at what is in our control.
Someone once said - "You will pay for it now or you will pay for it later- but you will pay for it". he was talking about some equipment and the much needed repairs and or replacement that would be eminent if not taken care of, but what other things in our lives can we apply that to? Our health, weight, finances, children, relationships, the list goes on. See we indulge ourselves or our children until we're/they're out of control and then we look around for someone or something to blame. We say well our health, it's part of getting old. Relationships, well it's their fault, or Finances it's the economy, and our children, they were born that way, they have an illness, it's their friends, T.V., the school.
Now again disclaimer - some of these reasons may be facts but they don't have to be the truth. John 8:32 says You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Free - Free of Poverty, free of rebellious children, free of being over weight, free of aching bones and joints.
But How? Go back to t 1 Peter 5:8 Be self controlled - Wait - Hmm see we indulge (too much) and then it catches up with us. All those things in our mind we say - "I'll take care of that later" - later does come.
Indulging as a treat is fine, but when it becomes a lifestyle you will pay at some point. If you give a child candy everyday and don't make them eat veggies or discipline them, you will pay, by their bad attitude, smart mouth, physical health and rebellion. Correct them now or fight with them later.
If you "shop til you drop" every weekend - you will pay at some point when those credit card bills come in and you don't have enough check to cover. God whispers - Go with out now or Go with out later.
If you eat everything you want and tell yourself I'll eat better tomorrow - tomorrow will come and probably with a few extra pounds.
See we fool ourselves. Just because we don't see an instantaneous consequence for our actions, we tell ourselves we are okay to continue on the same path. We will and do reap what we have sown in our lives. So if we want the course of our surroundings to change then we need to change what we are sowing. No it's not fun, and yes it will take time to turn this ship around. The wake of the current we have created is swift and strong. But our God is stronger.
Someone else told me "If you really want it you will make it happen, if not you will make excuses!
If I really want any of these things in life, I will need to hold myself accountable to the types of sowing that will produce the reaping I want. Pay now or Pay later - I will pay!
Wisdom chooses to do now - what it will be satisfied with later!
Father God, Please help me - I know you have given me a spirit of self control. Help me to use it in all areas of my life. Show me the paths to take that will reap a better tomorrow. Help me to listen and follow your whispers of wisdom.
In Jesus' precious name - Amen
