A Resolution

When my life gets boring or tough I tend to stop updating my blog. This should probably change.

The good news is that I got a job! Production Assistant for The Cleveland Play House from August til May.

The bad news is that all of my useful theater contacts seem to be in Ohio. I'm still not quite sure how this happened. It'll be good though. It is so easy to see specific lessons I learn and talents I develop with each drastic change to my life.

Now I'm frantically searching for an apartment and prepping to make this 27 hour drive for the 3rd time in 8 months.

My new website

I've decided that I'm going to start up a website about traveling for cheap. To get started I need to settle on a domain name, and I need your help.

I've posted a poll for you to vote on available domain names, but if you have a better idea, just leave a comment!

The little and the big things

Spending time with family. Away from work. Just a day of FUN.

Seeing old friends, laughing, talking, reminiscing, and encouraging.

At the end of the week, I am just so grateful for the people I know.

Learning To Trust Yourself

When will you learn to trust yourself? When will you come to the realization that your answers are just as good, if not better, than those of anyone else? When will you stop passing the buck for your life and assume control? When will you stop making excuses and start making progress? When will you allow negative feedback to roll off you like water off a duck? When will you learn to trust yourself?

When? Why not today? Why not now?

Because just as soon as you decide to take charge, to stop being dependent, to be the master of your own destiny, you will begin to notice a new power, a new energy come into your life. It may not happen overnight, but you’ll begin to notice a new aliveness overtake you. You will be more creative, happier, more confident, more at peace. People will notice it. Instead of a quiet desperation, you’ll exude a quiet power.

That’s what happens when you learn to trust yourself.

You watch.

Try it. You’ll like it.

I've decided to take my life into my own hands and see if anything changes. I'll keep you posted.

Happy 4th of July!

"And I beheld that their mother Gentiles were gathered together upon the waters, and upon the land also, to battle against them. And I beheld that the power of God was with them, and also that the wrath of God was upon all those that were gathered against them to battle. And I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles that had gone out of captivity were delivered by the power of God out of the hands of all other nations." -1Ne 13:17-19

What a wonderful day! I loved going to church today and thinking about how blessed we are as a Nation and how great of a responsibility that gives to each of us. We sang the National Anthem as our closing hymn. The scriptures referenced at the bottom were from 1 Nephi and also Alma when Moroni hoisted the title of liberty.

I love that story, but as I was reading it again today, I was reminded of the picture of George Washington.

"And he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land." Alma 46:13

I feel like there are a lot of similarities in these two men. And I appreciate the examples of both of them. To read more about the story behind this picture, read this blog. Awesome.

I have enjoyed the weekend spent with the family of course. Yesterday was the parade and then we went to Wheeler Farm for a picnic and some fun. What a great lookin group!

Robbie fed the ducks out of his hand, after he watched Kat and Cori do it first.
This family loved stripes today.
These two didn't dress alike on purpose. How cute is that?!
Everyone was so patriotic.

Have you ever told someone you were from the US, and had them look at you with a mixture of Awe and Jealousy? It isn't something that you forget. And you shouldn't.

"Surely God shall not suffer that we, who are despised because we take upon us the name of Christ, shall be trodden down and destroyed, until we bring it upon us by our own transgressions." Alma 46:18
