New York and Toy Fair

I attended Toy Fair in New York this year for work and Bert was able to come with me. Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Adamson for staying with our kids!

We got in quite late Saturday night, the plane landed at 11:30 or so, but then we sat on the tarmac for an hour. Something about the taxiways not being cleared of snow. Poor Gary and his cute kids waited I don't know how long to pick us up. I don' think we got back to his place until 2 am or so.

We stayed with Gary Sunday and Monday, ate at a great pizza and pasta place called Patsy's and Gary showed us around the city.

Monday morning we got on train next to Gary's house and rode it down to Grand Central station. My eyes are looking a little crazy in the photo. I don't really like looking like a tourist snapping photos of myself when there are hundreds of people milling around.

We headed over to Toy Fair at the Javits Center in mid-town right by the Hudson River. This was just one of the really cool displays there. Yes, he is made out of Lego's.

And my company's booth. We met a lot of people, sold some products and even had the Mixmates appear on the Today Show!

After the show closed in the evening we explored more of the city. We saw Wicked and walked around Times Square.

While I worked during the day, Bert played tourist. This is the Empire State Building as seen from the top of Rockefeller Center.

And the view in the other direction with Central Park in the background. Bert also had and amazing lunch at Carnegie Deli that day.

Last day there, leaving our hotel. We had a lot of fun. This was our first major trip away without kids!

Snowshoeing

One of the few things I enjoy about winter

Especially with good friends

Jacob turns 2!

My baby turned 2 years old! Hard to believe. He is a full blown little boy with an obsession with cars, trains, dirt and has perfected the tantrum.

We had a small party, just us and Grandma. He got a train set and this road rug, or whatever you call this rug that he can drive all his cars on.

Chocolate cake, his favorite.

For whatever reason, he eats most of his meals standing up on his chair. He must like the attention.

Or not. But he definitely had fun smearing everything on his belly. Happy birthday baby boy!

Merry Christmas!

Favorite Christmas traditions

Daddy reading The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, in addition to the nativity story from the Bible.

And everyone in their Christmas pajamas.

Another Christmas Eve tradition Bert and I started, Chinese take out for dinner. No pictures of that.

Not a great picture, but Emma's 1st grade Christmas program was so darling I had to document it. They recited The Night Before Christmas and sang some really cute songs. Parents bought fabric and a few wonderful mom's sewed all the kids nightcaps. Emma's on the front row making faces.

Snowfall

Jacob's first time playing in the snow. This time last year he was still crawling, so we didn't do a lot of snow play.

He was pretty excited about it until he realized how cold it was.

And really didn't like it after Kaylie threw a snowball in his face.
