Ringing in the New Year Finished
I finally finished Ringing in the New Year. The background took awhile! I quite like the mostly red color scheme. I am now a big fan of "light coverage" backgrounds! I think I will have this framed & give it to my Mom for Xmas.

Queen Anne's Lace Progress #2
Hi. We are back in Las Vegas. We had a good trip, but it is sure good to be home! I did get a little stitching done while we were gone. Here is my progress so far on Queen Anne's Lace. I have completed all of one quarter from the 1st class. The next class is in 2 weeks, so I hope to get more done before that. I did all of the Double Fans around the outside of the area just to get them all done. I think this is going to be a really nice piece!

Travelling again
We are travelling again for the rest of the week & I won't be able to show you any pictures 'cause I forgot the thingy that you put the memory card in to get the pics into the computer. Drat!
The last 2 days I have mostly spent sitting in a hotel room while DH attended a conference. It is in Palm Desert. It is a very nice hotel room. I tried to find a needlework shop here but failed. It has either moved or gone out of business. I have been stitching on Queen Anne's Lace. I got 1/4 finished, of the work from the first class. When I get home I'll show you a picture. I probably won't get anymore done on it this trip. We will be visiting family & friends the rest of the week in the San Diego area. I have another piece with me to stitch on that doesn't require any thinking! Just Basketweave.
See you next week!

Queen Anne's Lace
Although I missed the first class, I have a good start on Queen Anne's Lace. This is a new Ro Pace design and she will be teaching it at this year's Seminar in Columbus. This picture shows Ro's finished piece.
Naturally I changed the colors. Actually, this project has several different colorways in the class and it will be great fun to see how they all turn out. Here is my progress so far. These Jessica variations are fun and not too hard to do. I actually have all of the lighter blue Diamond Jessica's finished, but I'm just showing you the one quarter.

Stitch of the Month 2010
I finally started ANG's Stitch of the Month project for 2010. This project is designed by Sue Reed. As you can probably guess, I've changed all the colors! I decided to go with a nearly monochromatic scheme. I started with Waterlilies #130 and picked 3 Splendors from that, plus some Kreinik. I picked some Silk Lame Braid too, but so far I haven't used it; I tried it for one stitch, but thought it was too heavy. I am caught up now, having completed the Jan/Feb/Mar sections. It has a very delicate, feminine look.

Mystery Retreat Project Progress #2
I have worked on the Mystery Retreat project several times, even though I did miss at least ONE Sunday! I have been working on the center section, which is kind of "Z" shaped. It seems to go on forever! The only change I've made is: There is supposed to be some gold threads and I am using Kreinik #4005 (Sugar Cube) instead. I will put in a little bit of gold to keep the sections tied together.
The first picture shows the entire project. The 2nd picture shows the center section. The 3rd picture shows the detail of one end of the center section (it mirror images at the center). I tried to enhance the color, but just ended up with 3 different things! Oh well, you get the idea! The colors are shades of green, ecru and touches of a kind of taupe-y rose. I will probably tone down the rose parts sometimes. The darker rose shade is a little too purple-y for me.
I will miss working on it this Sunday, so it will be a couple of weeks before I have anything more to report.
Addendum: The pictures got rearranged by Blog. The top 2 show the center section & detail. The picture to the right is the whole piece.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
I know I haven't posted lately. I've been sick with a cold. I didn't get any stitching done for THREE days and missed the Ro Pace workshop on Saturday. Crap!! Oh well, I'm on the mend now. I actually feel pretty normal now. I am very lucky to have dodged the bronchitis bullet this time!
I will start my updating with this adorable picture of my babies. Do you hear proud mama talking? The kitties are doing well, getting along, playing, etc. Here they are in the window of my office, checking out the neighbor's Siamese who was in the yard.
I will try to get you all updated on all my projects over the next few days before DH and I head off to Palm Springs & San Diego. We will be gone for a week. I expect to check out needlework shop(s) in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and get lots of stitching done while sitting in a hotel. DH will be attending a conference. The San Diego part of the trip will be all about visiting family & friends and I probably won't get much stitching done then.

Ringing in the New Year Progress #3
Ringing in the New Year is all done except for the background. And I made considerable headway on that! I did discover that I should have started the background in the middle of a side, instead of in a corner. But, since there are now 2 threads open in the center of a side, I will fill that with the Mosaic Stitch which will connect the borders. Problem over! I will have to rip out a little bit of background on the left side. I have decided not to put anything in the remaining 2 corners. I think it is fine the way it is and more might make it unbearably busy!
