I made it! I am here in the Baltimore area and have survived a partial week of orientation. I feel overwhelmed, inadequate, and unprepared...but i am here and persevering. I am a trooper! The charm city does however bring rays of sunshine, and I am not talking about the weather. My roomie is especially delightful and has been making the transition to both nursing and the east coast much much more exciting. In the past week, I found, trader joes, costco, linens and things (they are going out of business...so go get the sales!!), ikea, my way to the shuttle stop, etc. At work, I have just been intro-ed to the department with lovely co-workers and staff...It will be a steep curve to aspire to be part of their number one rating for the last 18 years, but I can do it!!
Here are the charms I've had this week:
GalsCheery with charm city in the back
ED newbies!
Our staff and the new cohort...woop woop!
Getting ready to jump off the heli-pad from the hospital...we are soo goofy!
Newbies atop the dome
The four of us
SO far, so good. It's just frigid cold here. I can't wait to hit up DC etc....more to come on that adventure!

Allison's Wedding Trip
YeaH! Ro and I headed up from LA to San Jose for Al's wedding on Saturday. We stayed with Nino and Youngie and got to enjoy the frigid norcal weather. The wedding was beautiful...slightly brisk for the ceremony, but the reception was absolutely darling. Here's Youngie and Nino with closed eyes (oops!) Thanks youngie for letting us visit!!
Here's a part of the ceremony on the golf course of this beautiful resort....ahhh...Here is the three of us girls after the ceremony...we're ice pops! I think we've looked like this before...over and over again.
[more pics to come]

G-Rat makes King
So after a week all about my brother Garrett, finally, it ended and he was crowned Homecoming King of his high school. With the help of kimberlee as sign maker extraordinaire, me as his loud speaker presentation writer, and mom and every other person as his "ok-er" for his spirit week outfits ...we were all relieved to see him in his cockiness, or "confidence" as he deemed it, getting the crown. Geeez....Good job g-rat and you are welcome!

Kitchen mishaps
So I thought I'd help my mom make lunch the other day in between conference sessions. In my attempt to make some homemade ranch dressing (so goooood!!) I had a blunder. I jammed the beaters into the hand mixer then realized I put the first in the wrong hole. So i grabbed it to switch its location and then with my other hand attempted to push the release button on the top of the mixer, instead I slid my hand up turning on the beater, yes with my hand still grasping the end.....in a few quick seconds I was in the most awkward position, saying, "help me, help me!" After another quick second, I regained logical thinking and slid my finger over shutting off the mixer. pulling my aching finger out of the beater in perfect form, but throbbing like no other, with a blueish tint above the knuckle. I thought I'd broken it, but luckily, it has just been sore. Moral of the story: Don't shove the beaters in the wrong spots on the mixer.
