At the dawn of mankind, if there was such thing as a stereotypical job, it was being a hunter-gatherer.
As civilisation progressed and farming techniques matured, the stereotypical job became the farmer.
Then, the Industrial Revolution came along. Many people became employed in factories. The stereotypical worker sat next to the production line doing the same thing million times over in exchange for a living.
Since the end of the Twentieth century, manufacturing jobs have become less ideal as the salarymen and OLs (office ladies) took over the stereotypical image of a modern job in most advanced economies. Decked in suits and ties, the average Joe works in office towers located in gleaming skyscrapers in bustling cities and megalopolises. Office ladies would often come to work with some make-up, wearing high heels and carrying a stylish handbag. They have become the defining job of this era.
How would the next stereotypical job look like? What kind of job would the next generation consider as being the most stereotypical?
