crews~
i wanted to make sure i had some things written down for you too buddy! i feel like i don't need to write anything down b/c i KNOW that i will remember them....not so much!! i want to make sure i can capture just as many memories of you during your first 3 years of life as i did your older brother. bringing you home from the hosptial, starting to crawl, walk, talk, etc....i want to remember it all!
your birthday:
first i feel like i need to start with the night you were born....this is for me to remember just as much as it is for you:) i had been to see the dr that morning of the 10th...everything checked out just great and dr kaplan and i talked about a time that we could induce in the next few days. i still was unsure if i wanted to do that....i wanted to make sure i gave you plenty of chances to come on your own:) needless to say i decided to set up going into the hospital that coming friday, the 12th.
things went well that day and then around 5:00 i started having some contractions...nothing crazy, but definitely noticeable. your dad kept his eye on me and had also made me promise that i wouldn't deliver you at the house:) and i would tell him when i needed to go to the hospital. i assured him i was all good and it was probably nothing to be too concerned about. SO...i put your brother to bed and then we followed soon after. at about 12:35 i woke up and knew it was time. we called your mimi, the dr, and my friend amy and just prayed we could make it to the hosptial in time. it wasn't very long after i awoke that i told you dad that he needed to call EMS b/c you were coming and i didn't want him to have to deliver you!!! i was on the front porch (your dad on the phone with 911) and my water broke. my friend amy pulled up at the same time and somehow miraculously got me into your dads car. we raced to the hospital and the only thing i remember is just praying that everything would be ok and that jesus would help me!!! as soon as we arrived i was whisked into the hospital on a wheelchair and taken into the triage room....basically from there it all happened so quickly. you were born at 1:42 AM on 10.11.12 (what a great birthday date)!! we were still not sure what we were going to name you...we had decided that you name would have Wesley in it...but had not decided if you would be Crews or Jett. your dad and i decided that crews fit you well and the amount of personality you had already shown us!!! you were adorable and so, so sweet. a little cuddle bug. we stayed in the hospital until friday...mac and all your friends and family came to meet you...it was such a sweet time. we came home to mac, mimi and malley waiting on us:) everyone was so excited to see you....i will never forget that crazy couple of days and how you melted my heart when i got to hold you for the first time....

yes....

| poor buddy |
yes we are still alive. yes i still have a blog. yes my sister is about to kill me for lack of pictures. and yes i wish i could be better at updating my blog, but reality is i am pretty bad at it.
this summer has felt like a whirlwind. we have had a great summer filled with plenty of days at the pool, camp for mac, tons of family that has come to visit and everything that falls in between. mac has been so fun (and somewhat independent) at the pool this year. he has pretty much taught himself to swim, come up for air, jump in the deep end and swim to the ladder, do flips in the pool and dive for his toys in the shallow end. he. is. a. water. bug. we have loved spending the majority of our afternoons there and then usually a saturday or sunday there with daddy. we are sad for the days of the pool to come to an end, but we have a busy and exciting fall to look forward to.
probably part of the reason i have had a chance to update the blog is because we have been stuck in the house all weekend. poor mac has scarlet fever. what?? we have no idea where he got it, he woke up after nap on friday with a rash ALL over his body. the dr is pretty certain that it is scarlet fever, it could be one or two other bacterial infections but i'm not even going there. yuck. if you notice the pictures (in his pj's) that looks like his face has sunburn...that's what the majority of his little body looks like. he has a mixture of that "sunburn" rash and then one that looks like sandpaper. his little feet, hands and face have been swollen:( his dr has been really sweet and called and checked on him everyday. i had no idea exactly what SF was until this....it was definitely a little scary at first, but he is on some meds (ask me about that story later) and praying that everyday he gets to feeling better!
hopefully everyone in our house will stay healthy so we can enjoy some time at the beach and then charleston! charlie laughed and said that he has never seen me do as much laundry as i have done this weekend (mac's yucky stomach issues) and heard me say "Lord help us" so many times:) we are just thankful we aren't dealing with anything worse!

a little glimpse.....
Okay...I know it has been way too long since my post...forgive me Lindz:) Things have been a bit crazy so it hasn't allowed for much time with the camera or blogging:( I hate when I go for a stretch without picking up the camera--it just reminds me of how quickly time is passing and how much Mac is changing.
Mac is doing great---he is full of life and ALL boy. The conversations that I have with him on a daily basis are a trip. He is so funny--definitely takes after his daddy. An example from this past weekend.
M: why are we getting baby stuff at target?
Me: mommy is going to a baby shower tomorrow for mrs. mariah
(after a few moments of thinking)
M: so, the baby is going to take a shower with his mrs. mariah tomorrow?
Me: umm...no....a baby shower is like a baby party.
M: why did you say shower? you must have said the wrong word.
The weather has been a little weird here lately, but when it is nice we are outside as much as possible. I do everything I can to try and wear that boy out. Usually it just ends up with me being worn out and needing a cup of coffee. He loves riding his gator. He calls it his gatorade. He can whip that thing all around the yard...usually he is going on a "trip". He always tells me he is going to Alabama, he will call me when he gets there, and picks me up a sweet tea before he leaves:) A man after my own heart.
He is oh so sweet too. He will just randomly come up to me and tell me he loves me and gives me a hug. The other night I was putting him to bed and after I tucked him in (and sang Jesus loves me 10 times) he grabbed my hand, kissed it, and told me he was thankful for me. I just melted into a puddle on the floor. He has such a sweet spirit and I love seeing how that comes out. As sweet as he is, he is equally trouble. He is going to grow up to be an engineer or a great defense attorney. He wrote the book on 3 year old manipulation:) Charlie and I have to be so careful how we explain things, b/c the next thing you know, he is using it against you! How in the world does he do that?!?!
He is getting to be so big and such a little man. Everyday is an adventure and I am learning how to embrace the challenges and cherish all the little moments.

birthday and thanksgiving in one.....
Ok...so i am just a little behind:) Mac had a great birthday party...or at least I think he really enjoyed it:) We rented an inflatable for the party and Mac loved it. He jumped his little heart out..I tried to think of all the details that needed to be covered for the party but forgot one huge detail...how to tell mac that the inflatable is not his and has to go---oops. When the guy came to get it we had a bit of a breakdown. Guess I should have explained that one earlier! Other than that little "minor" detail Mac had a great time. The fire dept from our neighborhood came with the firetruck (and if i must say...i think the truck beat out the inflatable for mac). When someone asks him how old he is now...he says "i am three years old...i am a big boy now!" Yes you are buddy!!!
On another note...Thanksgiving was a blast too! Having Mac's bday and Thanksgiving in the same week deemed itself to be a little overwhelming this year. It was a CRAZY couple weeks between planning, cooking and craft making...but we had a wonderful time. We felt so blessed to be spending time with both of our families this year...Thanksgiving with the Atkinson crew (over 30 people plus my parents) on Thursday and then Thanksgiving my family on Saturday. It was such a sweet time and I am so thankful that we were all able to celebrate together.
Christmas here we come!!

i'm free....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAC!!!
You have brought such joy and excitement to our lives these past three years. We can't believe that three precious years have gone by so fast...you are the biggest blessing in our lives and we couldn't be happier that we were chosen to be your parents. Thank you for always keeping us on our toes...we love you more than you know!!!

beach day, beach day....
Sea, Sand, Whee!!!
That is the name of one of the books that we checked out at the library before heading to the beach this past week. I think Mac made me read it close to 5 times a day. When we arrived at the beach he kept repeating that phrase...it was so cute. We had a great time at the beach this year. We joined my parents for some rest and relaxation. It has been a while since either one of us have gotten away from work, so this was a much needed vacation. We had a great time, eating, swimming, building sandcastles, reading, napping and mostly enjoying some good old fashioned time with Mac. Charlie spoiled me and took care of Mac for the majority of the time so I could get in my "time in the sun" and read a book. Yes--i finished a whole book! Mac did pretty well in the car too..he isn't much for sleeping, but was good overall. Funny thing though...he started getting cranky and whiny on our way back and told us that he needed to get a spanking. We asked him why he would want to get a spanking and he said so that he could get out of the car. Needless to say Charlie and I thought that was quite amusing but are now questioning the power of our "whoopins"!! Mac was so much fun this year and we are looking forward to the times to come at the beach with him. Thanks mom and dad for a fun week!!!

hanging out...
We recently changed our so called "guest bedroom" into an office/playroom combo. It has actually worked out really well...I now have a desk to work at and Mac has an additional room to play in. I was working the other day and Mac was perfecting his hammering skills at his workbench. He loves to "go to work" as he calls it. In turn, I have almost perfected tuning out the loud hammering when I am trying to work:) When he was done it was a little too quiet so I went to check on him and this is what I found him doing in the living room. He told me he was taking a nap with mal. They are so cute together...where one goes the other is soon to follow.
