coming up with titles is my least favorite thing about blogging

This was my Valentine's Day gift to Allen. I couldn't find a bag (you'd think we would have one after all of the wedding gifts....), but I accidentally bought red saran wrap at the store a few weeks ago and this is what I came up with! Just covered up my bad wrapping job with some hearts and it looked like a legit V-day gift!
Last weekend we went to a deliiiiiiicious restaurant in Davis Square called Redbones. It was a BBQ joint and I seriously don't know if I've had better BBQ, and I'm from Texas. I got the BBQ Brisket sandwich and Allen got the pulled pork. WE LOOOOOOOVED it.

Something that is really funny to me:

I work in the Dean's Office and I've been at the front desk a few days this week. The past two days, someone that I know (in one case a teacher of mine, another a student I've collaborated with) has come in and gotten all up in my grill about some issue they are having. They don't like the way records are being taken or are upset about how people are getting paid. Hold. The. Phone. I had NOTHING to do with any of the things you are complaining about and I can't tell you ANYTHING about them either. I can refer you to people, but don't waste your breath getting upset at me. It's kind of surprising that they would do that. Raaaarr.

Aaaaaand, you know something is wrong when you have your Insurance Member # memorized. Wow.

A quote I saw this morning:

Great minds discuss ideas;

average minds discuss events;

small minds discuss people.

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Guys. I'm pretty sure I'm average. I talked to Allen about the episodes of Family Feud I've been watching at the gym for about 45 minutes on Wednesday night. At least I'm not watching E! or soap operas... there aren't many options at 3 p.m. and I need something to keep my legs moving. I wonder what's on at 12:30? Anyway, I'm average. I'm working on it though-- it's a good thing I live with a great mind who is patient with an average mind and sometimes helps me discuss things that matter (and who will indulge me when I need to be average... Family Feud is interesting okay). Hold on a second, am I small? Family Feud is just a bunch of people. What is happening to me?!!

Also. We generally eat delicious food in our house. I'm pretty nervous about what we're going to eat when it warms up because we live on soups. Not kidding. Last night we had this and it was kinda weird but sooooo good. It smelled like french toast but turned out to be strangely delicious. If you are a sweet potato fan this is for you. Mmmmmm.

That completes today's random post. :)

And here we are again

This is the mountain of snow between our apartment buildings.... Our windows is one of the ones that you can't really see under there....

Life is still pretty fun here in the Stoddard apartment-hold. A few updates:
Allen: Learning that he really needs to improve his oratory skills if he is going to succeed in life.
Annie: Falls asleep once or twice a week when it is Allen's turn to read. I took it to another level this week by falling asleep while I was praying (out loud).

Annie: Has carpal tunnel in both hands and hasn't played flute since Nov. 30 (with a few exceptions). Neck and Back problems are resulting and overall serious soreness. Yesterday I got a tetanus shot in my left arm and blood drawn from my right arm... I didn't think that was very fair.
Allen: Gets to give me a massage most nights. Isn't he lucky?
Allen & Annie: Celebrated our one-monther (ohmygosh presh!) last week. I even made muffins to celebrate and put little candles on the top, and Allen got me some flowers. Who is this guy?

Allen: Was dragged to the craft store last weekend and said that he would prefer to have firebrands placed on his eyes than ever go in there again.
Annie: Started making my Valentine's wreath a few nights ago. Probably not the best idea since I have carpal tunnel. What else am I supposed to do?!
Allen & Annie: Have been going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Crate & Barrel every weekend since we've been back from Texas to pick up essentials, make returns, etc. Some weekend we will do something that isn't shopping! Woooohooooo.
Annie: I've been cooking lots of good food this week. I think Allen's favorite was probably the pulled pork sandwiches we had and they were sooooo easy. Put a pork tenderloin in a crock pot, put enough rootbeer in to cover it, turn the crock pot on low for 7-8 hours, shred the pork and pour as much barbeque sauce on as you want. Easy and delicious. We had it with sweet potato fries and broccoli. :)
Allen: Has been cooking up some mean Cambodian/Thai food. He is the master of all things egg related and made scrambled eggs this morning.

And just as a disclaimer: I'm afraid that I painted a picture of my husband as a cross-dressing, booty-shaking, opera star in the last post. He's not....

Things I love about my life right now.

FYI This picture was supposed to go under #8 but I can't figure out how to do it. I have serious desires to switch over to WordPress. Dumb. This is one of the only pictures we have from our wedding day. For now. P.S. It was raining.
1. I live .6 miles away from the most amazing grocery store I've ever been to in my LIFE. It's called Russo's and I love it.

(1). Did you see how I just made that word Russo's into a link? Yeah, Allen taught me how to do that and I've been feeling reaaaaaaally cool lately. I'm so Internet savvy.

2. Back to Russo's. Not only do they have incredible produce, and I mean incredible, but they play CLASSICAL MUSIC over the speakers. What? I was walking through there a few days ago and the Nielsen Woodwind Quintet was playing.... since when has anyone ever heard the Nielsen Woodwind Quintet in a grocery store? That's what I thought... And just to clarify, I'm not one to listen to classical music like crazy, but it always makes me happy to hear classical music being played in public places as opposed to the usual tunes. One of the finer things, ya know?

3. I'm MARRIED! To my best friend, too. Our life is a serious party. Allen parties a little harder than I do in general, but I'm having a pretty good time myself. That's not to say I love married life less than he does, but I'm not the one running around our apartment dancing, shaking my booty, and singing songs about married life. At 8 o'clock in the morning. I'm a little more tame. TMI?

4. We live in what we like to call The Barbie Dreamhouse. Bathroom and kitchen are newly renovated, granite counter tops, and we even have not one but TWO light switches that have that little slider thing on the side so that you can dim the lights. How is that for romantical?! I know, right? And we DO have an extra bedroom with a bed, so if you're feeling like a visit.....

5. My husband came out this morning wearing my pajamas. Who is he? I think I laugh more than most human beings living with the roommate that I do.

6. We live in a winter wonderland. It snowed about 18 inches last week and a few more on Tuesday and now we’re getting around 8. Unfortunately I can’t make it to school. Here’s what it looked like outside our house during the FIRST snow….

7. I threw these shoes in the trashcan last week. :) We call them the "grandpa shoes." Who knows that really means, but they were preeeeeetty gross and I had permission to throw them away. AT LAST.

8. We had the best wedding there ever was. Not only did we get married for eternity, but we had a serious celebration to go along with it. I’m talking serious. Pictures are supposed to come by the end of this week and you better believe I will post some here. I don’t know how I feel about posting everything on fb—I’ll probably put a few up, but check here for the ril dil.

9. We had a lovely trip out to Penryn, CA, to visit Allen’s parents and have a little open house. Everything was so nicely done and it was so fun to get to meet the people that have known Allen since he was a little guy. Here are some pictures……

Listen, sometimes you gotta look your best for the camera, okay? Some people always look good. Like us.

10. We had a few days of warmth in Mexico. Here are all 2 pictures we took. :)

11. I am back to blogging. Maybe. After I write 1000 thank yous. And if you haven't gotten yours yet, IT'S COMING!!!

Flutey McFluterson

I am in the process of creating a new blog and building a website, so my web-attentions have not really been focused on this blog, but I feel really sad when I look at my poor little blog and see the I. Hate. Fruit Flies. post. It's true that I hate them, but I think I need to spice this thing up a little.
Here are just a few pictures from NFA in Anaheim a few weeks ago:

Got to spend some quality time with Uncle Will, Miss Lindsey, and Lisa at Grandpa Allen's.

At the awards ceremony for my competition. No one knew anything at this point. Look at the ridiculous look on my face. I'm a dork.

Haha. I love this. This is right after they announced second place, so I knew I had won. Trying not to smile? I felt kind of bad, okay?

My mom halted the program to snap this charming photo of me up on stage after I received my award. She's a proud mom.

Me and my awesome teacher. Love that lady. She's most of the reason I won.

My mom was so awesome to come out to LA with me. It was a huge comfort to have her and we had a looooooooooooot of fun. She's pretty much a flute know-it-all know.

Okay, that's just a little bit of the latest. More to come soon... hopefully on a new blog.
