A couple of weeks ago we finally took Lucas to get his haircut. I was really nervous that we would end up with someone that didn't listen to what we wanted and would just chop his hair into a boys cut. The salon was definitely targeted to little kids it had little cars to sit in and he picked the yellow, but was pretty upset when another kid came in and sat in his red car. I think he was planning on trying all three. They also had tv's set up so he would watch sesame street and hopefully sit still. Things went great and we love his new haircut it really makes a big difference.

18 month pictures
We got Lucas's pictures taken last month. A friend of mine, Danielle, took the pictures and really did such a great job. Especially since Lucas is not very cooperative and he fell and hit his face on a rock in the middle of the session. After we cleaned up the blood she was able to really capture Lucas's personality. Notice his clown like hair, I was worried that his hair would not be curly for pictures so I did a little hair spray maybe a little overboard. Thanks so much Danielle!

First Day at Nursery
On November 2, 2008 Lucas when to church nursery for the first time. We dropped him off and he just stood there a little overwhelmed, but once one of the helpers came and took his hand he walked right in. I was hoping to stay that day to see what he did and just have one last Sunday together, but when I asked if they needed help they told me no. So, I cried a little and then went on to the rest of the Sunday. I have to admit I forgot how to pay attention to Sunday School and I really missed Lucas. Afterwards I rushed to pick him up and they said he loved music time and the slide. Pretty much what I would have expected.

My little monkey
One day a few months ago I came in and found Lucas this way. I thought it was so funny that he had used his short leg's foot to feed himself. I imagined that is what happened since there was food on his foot. Ever since this happened he continues to act like a monkey: hanging on my back, flying through the air, loud noises...You get what I am saying. So I knew there was only one Halloween costume for him, a monkey.
To celebrate Halloween we went to the church "trunk or treat". It was so fun to have Lucas really enjoy the holiday he loved dressing up, and loved wondering around to get his next piece of candy to eat. After that we headed inside for some food and dancing. I don't think the activities committee planned to have dancing, but when Lucas hears music he feels it through his body and he can't help himself. He danced and played the night away surviving on sugar alone.

Fun on the farm
A couple of weeks ago we were able to go to a apple orchard/pumpkin patch with a bunch of friends. There was so much to do that we stayed way longer than we should have. We all had a ton of fun. Lucas was constantly asking me "what is that?" once I told him he needed to know the next thing. Ned got to climb trees, and I got to eat some of the yummiest pumpkin donuts (which I usually do not like donuts). To make the day even better gas was dollar cheaper than here in Chicago and there was a Taco Bell on the way home. All in all a fun day.
In the actual corn maze. Every time he saw a piece of corn on the ground he stopped to stare and ask me "what's that?"
Walking around in the real corn maze. It was muddy and tons of puddles which he insisted on stomping in every single one.
Lucas feeding the goats which he loved. Every time he finished feeding them he would lick his hands. Oh so Gross!
Lucas and Daddy finding the perfect apple
We were able to pick apples and Lucas found one that he loved and would not let go he just kept gnawing on it.
Here we are with our apples. I am not sure why I am holding the bag of apples since I did not pick even one. I think that I am still traumatized by the apple tree we had in our backyard in Utah. We never picked them. We just waited till they fell on the ground and then we had to clean up all the rotten apples that were in our yard.

Some of Lucas's little buddies: Lucas, Bennett, Simon, and Aston. Not pictured was Reese and Hunter. This is the only pic I got with more than two kids sorry.
Lucas loved looking at all the pumpkins in the patch. As he is pointing he is saying"Oh, what's that?"

Boy or Girl?
Boy or Girl?
The other day Lucas found my headband and insisted he had to wear it. If it fell off he would bring it to me and indicate that he needed to wear it. He even took it to Ned who tried to put somewhere else so he would forget about it, but of course being a kid and Lucas he did not forget and needed that headband on his head. Of course I snapped a few shots. I think he hair was perfectly styled for a headband. Why do the boys get the good hair and long eyelashes so unfair?

4th photo tag
This is fourth photo tag not quite sure of the rules, but it sounded like fun. So this was the fourth photo in my library.
These are the little girls that Lucas spent just about everyday with last year. Hannah and Rebekah came over to play one day when their family were packing to move last May. When they came in the apartment Lucas was so excited and would not stop smiling he loves those girls. I know he misses those girls, and I know I miss the whole family.Tag to anyone that thinks this will be fun!

I'm not sure...
You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.

New Blog Title
In case you wanted to know. I decided to change my blog title because I have never really liked the title. So following after my sister, Meredith, I saw this title on a Calvin and Hobbes book. This is what every day is like with Lucas in my life. Daily I am able to see how wonderful this world is through Lucas's eyes. Like how excited he gets when a squirrel (he calls a doggy) runs across the grass, how he stares out the window every morning and yells at the duckies, or how every time music plays he starts dancing. Because of him I am able to have a magical life in this magical world. I love you Lucas.
Louise and Johnny visit
I know this is way over due, but it is time to finish the summer vacation in time for Christmas vacation. We had so much fun with Louise and Johnny even at the Flea Market. Which was my first and may be my last. While they were in town we were able to get a few babysitters and do some of the grown up things in Chicago. Also thanks to Louise for watching Lucas so that we could celebrate our 3rd anniversary at Ruth's Chris which is delicious.
We got to go to a Cubs game which I think was the greatest thing for Louise she was grinning the entire time.
At the Cubs game. Funny thing happened at the game-Johnny was feeding Lucas a hot dog when Lucas took a big bite of Johnny's nub of a finger. He thought it was the hot dog. So funny!
