Just in case you aren’t aware of this I wanted to share it with you. If we all speak up, we can make a difference.
On July 14th our Governor signed into law SB 48, a bill that has been misrepresented to the public as one aimed at ending bullying. But the actual bill is far from an attempt to end bullying. Instead, SB 48 requires all public schools — including charter schools — to include positive discussions of the sexual orientations of transgender, bisexual, and gay Americans in all social science courses. Please go to www.StopSB48.com for more information.
SB 48 will take effect January 2012 unless its implementation is stopped. Under SB 48, public schools will begin supplementing current instruction with pro-transgender, bisexual and homosexual materials before textbooks are revised. The sponsors have said SB 48 will be integrated into courses for California students in grades K – 12. That means that our children will be taught to not only accept, but also endorse, transgenderism, bisexuality, and homosexuality through their history books and instructional materials. A coalition of groups has joined together to stop SB 48. They filed a referendum to repeal the law, and need 750,000 signatures by September 30th. You can help by downloading and signing a petition from the website at www.StopSB48.com and mailing it to the Stop SB 48 committee address listed on the website. Or if you would like, you can sign the petition and give it to me to mail.
I've been wanting a console table for a while. I finally found this one on craigslist. I loved the look, just not the finish. So, I refinished it.
Here it is before . It's a dark green with some 80's faux painting.
Here is one of the legs after it had been sanded, primed, painted, and glazed. Love the detail. Here it is complete and with some summer decor. Love it!! Makes me want to refinish my dining table. We shall see !
I'm feeling a little like this lately. For any of you who didn't know, I used to be pretty blind. Yes, I said used to be. I had lasik surgery last week with Dr. Poulsen from InSight Vision Center. I can't believe how amazing it is to be able to see without any help. Seriously, it's one of the best things I've done. I just had to share because it's so sweet!
