Tu-early for Tu-lips

My uber talented nephew was performing at on the first day of the Tulip Festival. I've always wanted to go see the Tulip Festival and since his performing group was there it gave me good reason to go.

Note to Self: Do not go to the Tulip Festival expecting to see Tulips when the two days prior they were covered in snow.

We did see lots of Daffodils though. They are my favorite. Ever since I was given some as a "handout" ( I guess you could say) at a Board Meeting. We were all new to our callings and our fearless leader (you know who you are...and Thank you so much!) gave them to us to plant in our flower beds (it was Octoberish). Then in the spring they would grow and bloom. I planted four bulbs that fall. They were to symbolize how much we would grow and learn from our new callings. The first year I only got three flowers and the fourth only came up greenery. This year I had nine flowers. So now every spring when my daffodils come up I think about where I was and where I am now. When I planted these bulbs it was just Matt and I. I'm a mother now and there are four of us. I consider that my current calling where I will grow and learn and hopefully bloom as beautiful as my Daffodils every spring. Wow...I didn't mean to go off like that. I just really like my Daffodils. They symbolize a lot to me. That's all I'm trying to say. :o)

Tulip Festival: So after watching Gatlin and all is talented-ness, we walked the grounds. It was a little cold, and a little windy, but we just spent 26 bucks! to get in and we were going to make it worth it.

A selection of flowers that were in bloom.

One of a few times we used the timer on the camera. :o)

Here's what Peyton did the whole time.

So in conclusion, I imagined the gardens as if the tulips were bloomed. I imagined they were beautiful. I did not have to imagine Gatlin's performance. That was great and really the thing that got us there in the first place. We ate dinner at JCW's. Had an awesome peanut butter shake and came home. It was a great day out with family.

Pre K Soccer

From the moment we found out we were having a little boy, Matt and I have been dreaming of Saturday mornings when we could load up the car with lawn chairs, water bottles, don our boy in his uniform, and go cheer for his team. This dream came true on Saturday.

Kooy is playing soccer. We went all out and bought him real soccer shoes and shin guards. We were real excited. Perhaps a little over board though, because when we got there he was the only 3-4 year old wearing them. I guess we should have realized it doesn't get to serious with the little ones.

We were so proud. Grandma and Grandpa Curtis and Aunt Shelby came to watch. Our little soccer player got right in there and even scored a few goals. They were so stinkin' cute. All of them. We cheered for everyone...even the other team. It was so cold that they were running on and off the field. At one time there was only one player from the other team on the field. We just laughed and giggled the whole time.

Power Kick!!!

Getting some practice kicks in before the game starts.

Lining up to do some drills. The coach couldn't be there but one of the dads did it. He was great! Hope our real coach is just as good. :o)

Team Huddle before the game starts.

Get the ball Kooy!!

Kooy lost his shoe during the game.

This is when he had just about had it with the cold.

But then Dad convinced him to play some goalie.
