A Family Night Out

My Uncle Gary was in town for the fly in at the Heber Airport and to visit with Dad. We all went together to dinner. Poor restaurant!! There were 20 of us in all Mom, Dad, Kathy, Byron, Jen, Krizten, Shannon, Chase, Aaron, Chelsea, Zella, Tyler, Amy, Susan, Bill, Ali, Kate, Gary, Ben, and me. It was crazy. The Chinese place was good to give us our own room!

Death of an American Icon and Death of an Actress

Anyone that grew up in the 70's knew Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. Today, Michael Jackson passed away (most likely from drugs). He was a true American Icon that brought us amazing music like Billie Jean, Ben, Beat It, Thriller, and of course We Are The World and terrific dance moves like the moonwalk. Michael had changed a lot from the kid we all knew. He was odd and had lost his way. His memory will live on. It was a sad day for many.

Farrah Fawcett also passed away today. She was a poster model when I was a kid but it was Charlie's Angels that I remembered her by. I actually thought I could be a cop or detective like the Angels or like Cagney and Lacey. She passed away after a long, very public fight with Anal Cancer. Stupid disease, Cancer, does not miss a soul!.

What a Day and Farewell :(

Last night we went to get Kate a new Sandbox. She had played in the flower bed long enough. That black dirt does not come out as well from clothes as sand. I called in sick because my stupid back is not quite well. I needed to go to Physical Therapy which I did while Kate took her nap (Thanks Nay-Nay for watching her). This morning, we got the sandbox up and filled with sand (thanks to helpers) and Kate spent the morning loving the sand. We put it where it is shady, most of the time, under the eaves of the house. That way, the sand won't get too hot and Kate won't get too much sun. No skin cancer for us. She loved the sand and Nay-Nay covered her feet so they were hiding! Then, this evening, I attended a farewell party for my amazing boss, Lisa Fischer. She is one of the best bosses our unit has had. This we know as we eat our bosses. We have had over 8 since I have been working in the unit. (The last one before Lisa was my least favorite and I was so glad to see her go!) Lisa was fair and fun and tried really hard. She was one of us as she had worked in our unit for more than 25 years. Who knows what we will get next. Nothing will compare. Lisa was also a terrific nurse and Charge nurse. Never will I do the Lisa Fischer protocol and not think of her. She saved many a baby holding a baby to keep them off the vent and from being trached. Sydney will remember her as well! Here is Kate with Lisa. Here are some pictures of Kate and Ashlyn (my friend Jen's daughter!) at the party. Good luck, Lisa, with all you do. You will be amazing at the U! They are lucky and IHC loses once again!!!

My Days with Kate

She is just so enjoyable to be with. Kate is a light. She exudes fun and happiness. Kate loves to be outdoors so these are some of our outdoor shots from today and yesterday. Jumping on the trampoline, climbing up to slide, playing in the dirt, or just exploring, she does not care as long as it is "Side". When she is inside, she goes from getting into one thing to getting into another. Here is her afternoon mini popsicle (I love the new slow melt ones with gelatin). I have to keep reminding myself that she is 1. She is 1! She is 1!! Today, she helped Nay-Nay with the sewing. Needless to say Nay-Nay did not need any zippers!!

Troop 1201's Last Supper

Tonight my Girl Scout Troop got together for a final farewell to Troop 1201. We had a fairly good turnout from mom's and girls. We heard some great thoughts from the girls. Tree (Terese) and Mouse (Ginny) even joined us.We had some great food, thanks to Mountain House Grill. Kate was even well behaved the 2+ hours in the high chair. (Good prep for the upcoming cruise to Alaska). No, that is not a bruise but an M&M mark Ali put on her! Notice the green lips!We had some good laughs and we reminisced. We talked about Susan swearing at the girls at 4 a.m. and despite that, in the end it was a unanimous decision that camping was the favorite activity from scouts. We did have some great ones. I especially loved the campout where we all slept until 11 a.m. and then because it was raining, we packed up and went to the movies. I also loved "Little America" camping. We laughed about Disneyland and the songs we sang. The girls are so much fun. Kate had a fun time and now I have a couple years off before she starts the Daisy troop. Not sure I will be the leader but I will be involved. I love the kids.

Kimber (Munchkin), Ashley (Elf) and I. Morgan (Foxy) and I. Ali (Firefly) and I. Shalena (Casper) and I. Miranda (Flash) and I. Jen (Jazz) and I. Shannon (Aspen) and I. Desiree (Daisy) and I. Toni (Tiger) and I. Treesa (Pee-Wee) and I. Ashley (Elf) and I.

I even wore my ratty tye-dye camp t-shirt that says Twinkles on it. What spirit!!

Slave Labor

Looks like slave labor. Kate loves to pull wagons. In the morning, we go get the paper and mail with her little green wagon but here she is taking the recycling to the street with my wagon. Too cute. It is lots taller than she is and she will not let anyone help her pull it out to the street.

Puddle Splashing!

I love to puddle splash and so does Kate. It is still too cold to puddle splash ourselves so our car did it for us. We went to dinner and this was what our car looked like taking on the massive puddle! Then we went driving around and found another puddle. We splashed a bunch of times when some teenagers waved us down. The girls asked if we would splash them and the boys asked to ride with us. They jumped in the back and off we went. The girls were drenched. Of course I did not get their pic but we did get the car as we went through the puddle. Cool. The teenagers thought we were so cool to be doing that. Kate just laughed and laughed and said more!
