#SFDesignADay - 7-9

Day 9 - Free Software
I used Canva
Day 8 - Photographic
I used a photograph of logs

Day 7 - Vector
I made this drawing to clean up in vector. I used Inkscape to trace the drawing but I didn't know how to alter things after that or how to save the vector as a jpeg for this blog. It would take me a long time to learn it, longer than I had to do this drawing. But I am learning a bit about vector drawing with my cutter software so maybe one day I will get the hang of it, but for now I would say I failed on this challenge.

Wooden Heart

I bought a wooden heart which I altered for the happy couple. I used Golden coarse molding paste to make the raised letters with a card stencil I made. I used my Zing cutter to cut out the stencil. Then paint and a bit of roughing up.

Two Knitted Blankets

I used to machine knit and design patterns many moons ago, which resulted in many test swatches. Well recently I came across a bag of these swatches so I made a couple of blankets with them. I've hand stitched them to fleece blankets which makes them lovely and cosy and hides any loose threads on the back. I think I may have enough swatches to make another but it will be the very last.

Border Cut Cards

My first border cut cards using my Zing. The cuts are not perfect but I think I know what the problem was - a dirty mat. The blue one was created using basic shapes in MTC [Make the cut], the white one I created on my tablet then brought it in to MTC to add it to a card shape and then cut it on the Zing.

Baby Cardigans and Vintage Sewing Machine

Two baby cardigans I knitted late last year. I've not done any knitting for years so I was quite pleased with the outcome. And they fit him [my grandson] .......but not for long I think.

My daughter found a vintage Singer sewing machine in a cupboard. We thought it was a table at first, the machine was tucked under and folds out. It is VERY heavy.

Handmade Stamps

I recently bought a cutting machine, a KNK Zing Air. One of the first things I cut was fun foam to make some stamps. The birds were images I found on the web, the rabbit and frog with snail were drawings from my sketchbook and the hare was from a photograph of some decorative architecture relief. I stuck the foam shapes to wood, cardboard and an old plastic card.

New Vibrant Swatch

Spoonflower have released a new fabric - cotton spandex jersey, suitable for sports wear, t-shirts etc.
I decided to print this vibrant design on it, created on my tablet.
This is what it would look like in repeat.
