Five Wheeled Bicycle, Bags of Tree

I went to Beamish again yesterday and saw this five wheeled bike with baskets, like a penny farthing with four stabilisers. It was probably ridden by a woman wearing long skirts. It looks great but must have been really hard work and the brakes did not look too effective.
Today I went to Durham. I have never seen a Christmas tree like this before, have you? It was made from recycled plastic carry bags. It looked like a heap of rubbish but I have since seen pictures of it lit up and it looked very effective.
I also came across this sculpture called 'The Journey' by Fenwick Lawson

It is a tribute to the story of St.Cuthbert's coffin which went on a long journey from Lindisfarne to Durham in the 10th century.

Even more of Beamish

a wall full of metal posters

The pictures above were taken in the open store, a behind the scenes collection [not open all the time]

The desk was in the farm house

The wash buckets were in one of the shops in the town

This is a 'new' building - St. Helen's church, a medieval building rescued from demolition at Eston and re built here. Read more here. All the bricks were numbered so they would know where to put them back together.

More of Beamish

I love drawers so there are a number of photos of them. The drawers above were in the garage, most people were looking at the cars and things related to cars, while all I was interested in was the drawers. There was another set next to these but I couldn't get a good shot.

There was a new [to me] 'open store' with an array of objects

Beamish

Last week I didn't post much as I had visitors and one of the places we visited was Beamish - the living Museum of the North. I have been many times before as it's not far away, and I have lots of photos and now I have even more. They will be the last ones from this camera though as it broke while I was there. More to follow tomorrow - click on the images to enlarge.
