Pink Book [part 5]

Layered textured papers, glitter, dyed lace, handmade fabric flowers, machine embroidery.

Fabric page - voile pink flowers, flowers made with lace trim with a gem under net in the centres and beads around the centre, raised stitched stems, distressed area with pulled threads and stitched net in the hole

Painted, stamped wallpaper, ribbon, dyed fabric flowers and lace, 2 heart gems, plastic hand.

layered textured papers encrusted with honesty seed pod and metallic threads, fabric ATC - patchwork, embroidery, beads, lace.

Smocking - too neat to be hand stitched? Actually it was from a dress, I cut the top off which was the smocked area to make a skirt.

The back cover - the flowery is vintage fabric, the other is some fabric I transfer printed years ago. he type that you paint on paper and transfer to fabric with heat. The white 'polo' areas were made by putting paper reinforcement rings to act as a kind of resist, the blue and green areas were sticky labels painted with transfer paint. And that is the end of the pink book. What colour next?

This rhododendron below is very unusual, why you may ask? I have had this shrub in my garden for 30 years and this is only the second time I have seen a flower on it. And I mean a flower, just the one both times.

Finished - Monochrome Handmade Book

The monochrome book completed. 

It is a concertina style book. All the pages have been stitched together back to back with a layer of interfacing in the middle and joined one to another.

All the pages are 4" x 4", mixed media - such as paint, stamped, embroidery, stitched, found objects, collage.

There are ribbons either side to keep it together when not in use.

I decided to stitch clear plastic on the outer pages with the machine but the but it puckered up a little.

I tried hand sewing the plastic on the front but it still puckered and looks untidy, quite difficult to do with it being made up. I was going to leave it without plastic but the M bead came off, it was in my bag and I caught it on something. The beads stick out a bit I thought it may be more secure with the plastic on.

The Colour Purple [Pages 20 -22]

Page 20 - Background - painted, stamped, decorated layered papers, stitched edges.

Card discs, mini buttons. Reindeer are from  a paper napkin. Tag, one side butterfly stickers, the side musical note stickers. Purchased handmade paper with metallic gold decoration, beads on each side, paper flower.

Rows of hearts and flower are from a napkin. Gems. Small sample of digitally printed fabric, my design. Decorative machine stitching.

Page 37,38- Leaf prints on paper [acrylics and watercolours]. I remember the day I did this, it was at a friends and she had found some great leaves for us to print with, I really like this page. {click on the images for a better look}

Plain background fabric, found image [advert on tracing paper] with artwork stitched underneath, woman made from paper, applique, skirt is a recycled painted/stamped wipe, earrings were part of some jewellery.

The earrings are hanging to the right in the top picture because the book is fat, so I did another photo from another angle. Guess i should have taken pictures of each page before joining together.
