Heading Up To Coffs Harbour

Looking forward to get away form Sydney this school holiday. We are off to Coffs Harbour north coast of New South Wales. It's not our usual holiday month but it's been so damn cold here in Sydney these recent weeks, the winter chill is unbearable for me this year for some reason (still couldn't get use to the cold weather after years of living here down under).

It'll only be for a few days but at least the weather will be warmer than Sydney. Another reason that we are heading north is that my 9 years old boy will be competing in ISKA karate at the Coffs, how mad aren't we? lol!! travelling that long 7 hours just to enter a competition hahahaha ...well I dont mind just as long as I can get away and have a break for a while, my husband and my boy can go to the competition and me and my 6 years old will just stay at the holiday park and will enjoy our day...

We will be staying at this place, click the link;.. hope the weather will be good up there;http://www.darlingtonbeach.com.au/

Freedom Ball for Philippines 112th Independence day

Pilipinoes in Sydney Australia celebrated it's 112th Philippines Independence day, it was the first Freedom Ball held in Sydney or in Australia for that matter. Me and my friends enjoyed the night, we wore formal dresses for the occasion, some people wore Philippines traditional clothes, most glamoured and glittered on the night. We had a blast dancing and picture takings.

Where's Wally?

You've gotta find him in one fo the fish tanks at Sydney Aquarium. This was last scchool holiday.

Nintendo DSI shots

Just some pictures my boy took from his nintendo DSI, he's just having fun and experimenting.

Australian Reptile Show

Took my boy to the australian reptile show at sydney showground last Sunday, there were lots of animals to see, there was a displays of crocs, birds, fishes etc, and most of all snakes, after a few rounds I thought I have seen enough snakes, I even accidentally touch a live one which I thought was a fake... yeucckkk!!

BIRD NEST ON MY MANDARIN TREE

Just outside our laundry room is a short mandarin tree, this little creature (can you see his colorful little eye?) decided to nest there, it must've been uncomfortable fo him/her everytime I pass by.

One day I decided to have a look in it's nest and saw these two eggs, how wonderful that the gorgeous little creature have chosen my mandarin tree, but when I checked it agian in the next two days, the eggs are all gone.

Easter Show 2010

It was a good long weekend (holy week weekend), plus, it was also school holiday so first stop was the easter show which was run for 14 days from April 1 - April 14. The boys were more interested in rides than the animals show and parade.

I apologize I haven't been able to update this blog but mainly because I have facebook which I'm more active at and I have the other blog as well where I post all my photo blog series (daily meme). I enjoy posting my photos and share to other bloggers and I just can't keep up with so many internet activities. Hope you all have fun during teh week and happy weekend too for thsi coming weekend.

Maruya (Banana Fritters)

My pinoy food trip this afternoon is Maruya. I lookep up for the recipe online there are plenty of them, they almost have all the same method and I have tried them all but still dont quite get it right. I'm dissapointed because I'm usually good at following recipe. I'm getting good at it though and after I tried to cook it today I now know that Im not using enough cooking oil, it crumbled as I turned it over, oh well I'll cook it better next time then. If anyone have any suggestions please feel free to leave it here, thanks.
here is the recipe I copied and paste from Yolly's Free Recipe http://www.yollyking.com/yollyking/maruya.htm
Maruya.....Banana Fritters
1 cup sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1/3 cup water
1 egg, beaten
4 ripe bananas
1/2 cup cooking oil
powdered sugar (optional)

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add milk, water and egg to the
dry ingredients and mix until batter is smooth.
Peel the bananas and slice lengthwise into 4 pieces. Dip in the batter
and roll lightly in flour. Deep fry in cooking oil, browning evenly.
Drain and serve with powdered sugar if desired.
Yield: 16 fritters.

oh well, I wasn't hungry anyway coz I had lunch with my friend today

Delish Banana Milk Shake

It was another hot day today, it felt very summer already, luvvv it!! and for my cold refreshment is banana milk shake. Just throw ripe banana and milk in the blender then blend it, then voila! delish banana milk shake for ya, this time I put vanilla ice cream, I didn't put sugar because banana is already very sweet and so as the ice cream too. Banana is heavy and filling I didn't feel like eating my dinner after a glass of banana milk shake.

Papaya Milk Shake, My Cold Beverage When It's Hot

It still spring and still one more month before summer but it's already heating up here down under. Yeah, it was quiet hot today and I so loving it, I love summer, I dont mind if it's very hot it'll only be in the outside anyway there'll be aircon inside the house and anywhere else.

When it's hot like this, I needed something cold drink to cool me down and it's just handy that I have fully ripe papaya in my fruit bowl, I was lucky to have found it at the asian shop the other day, I posted here;

Here's the way I make it, it's so simple, all you need is ripe papaya (the orangey color the tastier), milk, teaspoon of raw sugar and ice. Throw all up in a blender, and Voila!! you'll have a nice papaya milk shake.

Note 1; you can also mix with some arnotts sweet biscuits (not the chocolate ones)... it's optional.
Note 2; you can also put vanilla ice cream - optional.

I prefer it really really cold so if you want place the ripe papaya in the fridge for half an hour to one hour before cut it.

NOTE: do not include the skin of the fruit, it'll taste yuck.

dunno what's the difference but here in oz they call it paw paw

T Bone Steak Barbe For Dinner

If my husband says "honey I'll cook tonight" it'll only mean two things, he will either go out and buy take away (Yuck!! - I dont really like take away food) or he will heat up the barbe burner and will throw some snags in it, I like barbecue but I am not a sausage eater, in fact, I even hate the smell of it.

My aussie hubby and my kids are the ones who loves sausages, it's what they eat for breakfast sometimes on a Sunday if we are not in a rush or no appointment, sausage barbecue with barbecue eggs is their favourite to eat lol!! (except for Jack who dont eat egg at all).

For me, I only want barbcue for lunch or for dinner, and nothing beats a mouth watering T Bone steak is my favourite, my husband knows exactly how I like my T Bone, I dont know why he is not a good cook but most of the time he presents his barbe well. Here's his cooking tonight lol!! I sliced some greens for salad with my favourite Paul Newmans salad dressing.

Here it is - my husband's cooking lolmy sawsawan toyo at kalamansi from my garden lol sariling tanim

Train

My husband made it originally for my eldest son James but he was ripping it off being so young and restless at that time (I think it's a two years old job? lol), my husband kept fixing it up until one day he got the shites and put it away.

Jack plays with it now, it's the only toy he would want to play at one stage, and I think he's a better keeper than the other one, John's pretty happy that at least his work is not at all thrown in vain.

If You Like Good Food You Must Be French???

Don't we all? Something's seriously wrong with this sign LOL

I'm not french but I do love food, the good and the bad ahahaha!! and this is what I had for dinner tonight at Revesby Workers Club. Hmnn diners must be thinking I'm so weired taking pictures of my din din first before eat it LOL.

Coffee Anyone?

I had coffee with my friend the other day at one of the asian coffee shop, I never had coffee at this particular coffee shop before (I always have mine at Gloria Jeans). I was impressed with the way the asian lady (vietnamese) did my coffee, just have a look at the pictrues - yeah - couldn't help it I had to take a shot of it.

Seems everyone's doing it, once before in another coffee shop I had a heart decoration from a man who serves coffee, my colleague teased me that maybe he had his eye on me hahaha... was it a sign you think? lol!!

Anyway, they said it isn't hard to do it, well, just a short course from TAFE maybe lol!!

"Rock Baby Rock" You Be The Judge

From the filipina show that I went weekend ago. I miss listening classic pinoy music (especially those that played in my teen years LOL). Thought this group is good, or at least close. Can't remember the original band who sang this song, was it VST? or Hagibis? can anyone tell me?

We Just Got Back From Easter Long Weekend Break

From "The Entrance", stayed for 3 nights in a fully furnished cabin, the holiday park was called Two Shores Holiday Park. It's where we spent our easter long weekend. It was nice coz it was by the lake, there is a long footpath for easy access to the town of The Entrance and my boys had fun riding their scooter to get to the town, fishing area and playground. The holiday park also is a fishing area and anytime of the day you can see people sitting just by the lake with their fishing rod.

I like The Entrance coz it's not far from Sydney, about 2 hours by car. They have amusement rides and fair for kiddies all year round, my boys certainly had fun. They requested to stay for more days (as they've found friends as they always does everywhere we go), John have to go back to work tomorrow though so we can't stay, maybe we'll come back again if we get a chance.
