in nyc now and I MISS MIDDLEBURY!!

my friends, french, the place... the lousy food at proctor and crashing at the l'ecole espagnol parties.
arh.
counting down til the day that i can move into my dorm room!
crashing at someone else's place just isn't very fun.
PLUS this morning i woke up and found my wallet opened, and lying 5 ft away from me on a table. WTH!! its so freaking bizarre that i'm kinda spooked out.
all my cards were still in there lar but still ..

bonjour! de nyc!
yup, my 7 weeks of french program have ended and i can finally speak/write/listen in english again.
which is so freaking weird, especially when my friends from the language school speak to me. I got to know them while using french, and its just weird to talk to them in english. especially when one of them has a slight texan accent.
i'm going to miss everyone! especially my room mate, Mary Clair!
Couldn't have asked for a better room mate who wasn;t pretentious, who was nice, funny etc.
hopefully i'll get to meet up with Maria and Kavita in NYC.

omg i am homeless now and i am so freaking tired cause i didnt sleep last night. left the party at 12.30 am and chatted with tom/daniel til 1.30 am. honestly, just talking interesting crap.
and i had to pack cause the girl giving me the ride wants to leave by 5.30 am.
omg. I CAN REALLY just fall asleep now man.

its been a while since i've updated my blog!
school has been busy and i've been having too much fun as well. haha!
middlebury is in the middle of nowhere, and i'm thankful that classes here are really fun and interesting to keep me busy.
the prof here are amazing! and i'm learning so much from them, and from my equally amazing classmates too.
its just so refreshing to be finally learning with a bunch of other people who are equally excited to be here, and who are equally/more motivated to learn french.
and of course, how many americans actually want to learn another language? so what you see here are really very interesting people who perhaps have a more global perspective than others.
i love my camarade de chambre too! (room mate) she's just so sweet and so easy to get along with that its amazing! :)

i just went for a chinese massage at this damn atas place for 150 RMB (=30 sing.) damn painful! but i think all my xue dao were unlocked by the painful kneading. i had a male masseuse which is apparently very common in china. my 2 roommates and i were in the same room, and they offered free flow of drinks and food! i had pear juice and ginger cola. the latter was interesting! haha
so last week in beijing and i'm pretty sure i'll miss this place. :( boooooo.
i made a qipao!! its damn pretty hehehe paid 700 RMB for it and i think its a good price for the workmanship.
my sister visited me this past weekend and we visited 798, which is this damn damn cool art corner in beijing. its an understatement when i say 'corner', because the area is damn huge. say the size of 2 american football fields? and you have a bunch of revamped warehhouses/shophouses with art galleries in them and COOL COOL shops selling everything from pottery to abstract art pieces.
i love 798!!!!!!!!!!!! :) its really inspiring.
i ate scorpion over the weekend. YES SCORPION. will be posting pictures soon.
went clubbing the other night and it was really fun! haha havent clubbed in a while and will be doing that again this friday night.
my friend yezi and grace will be visiting me in beijing from xi'an. having my project presentation tomorrow which i still need to work on (its 1 am here.) made sure my mum is gonna call me at 730 am to make sure i wake up in time.
and i found this coffee shop, THE BOOKWORM, in san li tun. i love it! its so cosy and a nice place to read/work on my project.

tonight was really fun! went out with my roommates, julia and michelle, and julia's colleagues to a restaurant and a bar after that. in the end, we ended up with 8 of us on the rooftop of one of the hutongs, drinking beer at a bar, speaking in THREE different languages! french, english and mandarin.
how cool is that! in beijing! so turned out that one of the guys went to belgium for high school, and then returned to china. he works in a french architecture firm, so his 2 colleagues came along and both spoke french. c'est chouette!
i miss speaking french! c'est la vie! :) really excited about middlebury, but kind of sad about leaving beijing too at the same time. i'm going to miss my colleagues, my roommates, and just the place!!!!

anyway, my sis is arriving tomorrow! yay :) should be fun lar, if she doesnt boss me around. haha

omg! i've been so busy lately (having fun) that i havent had time to update my blog.
i really like beijing! i love the little rou cuan places where my roommate and i will go to for lamb kebab and other funky meats. its better than satay! haha
i really like my coworkers too. they brought me to eat traditional beijing delicacies today. like tou zhi (fermented soya bean), some beef innards etc.
i am so going to go broke with shopping! went shopping the other day and brought a cool dress and jacket for 200 rmb (~40 sing).
arh! and i went to climb the great wall/visited beida tsing hua/yi he yuan/silk market.
and found 2 kittens on the way. muahahaha.
i think i'm having way too much fun here to focus on my internship project. talking about that, the stupid IT dept gave me a crappy laptop that kept crashing. i can't stand the IT dept! argh! (long story behind this. will not elaborate.)

i think the beida/tsinghua pple are great fun! haha chek and ronghui showed me their tiao mee dance last week. it was hilarious! had dinner with a bunch of them last weekend too at a jap restaurant. its nice to hang out with singaporeans again!

so i'm blogging every day because i think that every day is pretty memorable and i do love beijing!!!
woke up at an unearthly hour of 630 am so that i could get o wangjing qiao by 810am. reched there at 8 am, waited for 20 mins before xuanrong and the minivan appeared. so we were off to the great wall. yay
I CLIMBED THE GREAT WALL!! i'm a hao han now :)
ok so i'm pathetic but my stamina is non existed. just really tired when i got to the top (even though we took the cable car to a halfway point). BUT what i really liked was sitting down, chilling, drink my ice lemon tea, talk to the drink stall uncle, and take in the entire scenary. i also pondered about what it must have been like to build such a grand structure. the stones are so well laid its crazy!
going to tian an men tomorrow if i can wake up. i am so shagged now.
had dinner with my boss and some beida/tsinghua pple. really fun. the food was pretty good. went to look around beida after that. I LOVE THE CAMPUS! it is so pretty. there's this nice mix of old and new. the dorms totally suck though. looks like some post WWII singapore hospital. damn freaking spooky.
met up with wai kit, rong hui. watched chek and rong hui dance haha DAMN HILARIOUS!!! :)
met some interesting pple e.g. quek who sings damn well and knows all the songs in these world.
ok too much to day and i 'm falling asleep.
