Operation Lignum Orange Control (Ops LOC)

Sick of having Lignum doing poorly in competitions? Tired of the usual boring house sessions?

Never fear, General PAPER is here to implement Ops LOC in order to boost Lignum morale. Have a suggestion for another house cheer? Just pen it down on the tagboard for all to comment. Feeling bored of studying? Browse through our facebook group or go through the various house pictures uploaded. The new blog display is a brand new start to the comeback Lignum will have in 2010.

Phase 1: Orientation 2010.

This symbolic event will have hundreds of new members entering our house. And it is imperative that you EMPHASISE THAT LIGNUM IS THE BEST HOUSE EVER! I cannot stress this more than enough. With minds broken down from the horrors of the O levels, it is the best time to spread propaganda and both covertly and overtly induce their zombie minds to believe that they have entered the best house in NJC. Not only will this propel our status sky high, but also create a want by members of other houses to join Lignum, creating a sense of exclusivity.

Lignum councillors and OGLs play a crucial role to this phase. Please "encourage" all new members to Lignum house to join the hippest online community on our facebook group here or to check this blogsite regularly for house updates. Also, make it compulsory for at least 2 people to be official Lignum photographers in any orientation event, and the pics must be uploaded onto the group or blog within 24 hours.

Lastly, all Lignum members, whether old or new, ip or jc, must remain positive of Lignum's future, no matter what happens in any event. A positive attitude trumps winning all the inter-house trophies, because people would want to enter the house with the best family-spirit, because titles and trophies can be won and lost, but house-spirit will remain our minds forever.

Remember, Ops LOC will require the cooperation of ALL LIGNUMITES. Please maintain ops secrecy and spread this message only to our fellow comrades in the Beaver House.

Track and Field

Wednesday was the annual Track and Field meet. Lignum got 3rd overall!

4 x 400 girls team - 1st

4 x 800 girls team - 3rd

4 x 800 guys team - 2nd

IP team - 3rd

4 x 100 guys team - 3rd

4 x 200 guys team - 1st

4 x 200 girls team - 3rd

bored?

hello, boys and girls!

Sports finals - 800m

Today was the finals for 800m guys and girls.

As it was a half day, the races started at 2pm instead of the usual 4pm. Special thankyous must be made to those who stayed back just to run!

The girls 800m final was first and Lignum sent in one team:

Team A: Yi en, Ha, Choon Yee and Tse Mei (Left to right)

The competition was stiff with many other houses fielding long-d trackers (while we didnt have any!), but our girls did fantastic and persevered to get 3rd overall!!! They pushed themselves really hard and gave it their all throughout the gruelling 2 rounds around the track.

Then it was time for the guys to run. The competition was equally tough with half the teams fielding trackers. Lignum sent in one team:

Team A: Trent, John, Siang Ee and Ern Sheong (Left to right)

Their run was utterly awe-inspiring and we clinched 2nd placing overall!!!

Thank you once again to all who ran today, to the extent of excusing themselves from remedial classes and ultimately giving their all. We can do it! Continue to chiong ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
