What a Week!

I feel like I was caught in a good news hurricane this week! We have been wondering how everything was going to work out with our house, Scott's job, etc. Then on Thursday we found out that we had been approved on our loan! Yea! I started jumping around the basement. I tried to call Scott, but he was with a customer, so I had to wait about an hour to tell him the good news.

Friday we found out that the carpet people hadn't ordered the carpet for our house, so if we wanted carpet fast, we had to pick some carpet in stock. Scott was happy about it, cause he didn't like the carpet we had originally chosen, something about it looking like a fruit cake. We found some carpet we both loved at Eagle Ridge Flooring, which is owned by a friend of ours. So they are getting our business instead. We order it on Monday and hopefully they can install it on Wednesday. Unfortunately this means that our house cannot get appraised until then, but hey! We got cool carpet!

Saturday Scott found out that he was getting a new Sales Manager! We hope that it changes the enviroment that he has been working in. The lady that was in charge before was very negative, she would suck all the positive energy away, and seemed to think that chewing people out, talking bad about them behind thier backs, and calling them liars to their face would motivate sales. Silly, I know, but that is how she acted. She is actually really good at her real job, she is the finance person, but has had to take over the sales job for several years, and just isn't happy about it. Hopefully she is gracious enough to release her power over the salesman without a scene. She would be happier if she didn't have to worry about it anyway. Scott is thrilled. He will work so hard for someone who believes in him and encourages him, but when he is constantly criticized and treated like a child, it takes alot of effort to continue despite the unfair treatment. So, today was the first day of the new Sales Manager! Scott was wondering if he should leave the dealership after we closed on our house, but I think that he will probably love it there now. We shall see how the next couple of weeks go.

Sunday, Scott and I gave talks in our new ward. We were also called to be Primary Teachers, we teach the 7 year olds. It was alot of fun. I haven't been in Primary since I graduated to Young Womens, so it was a different experience for me.

Sunday evening we were gathered at my parent's house when we heard the news that President Hinckley had died. My brother-in-law, Lem Harsh, told us. It was a wonderful opportunity to teach my little sisters about what happens when a prophet dies, and how another prophet takes the reins. We loved President Hinckley very much, I remember when President Hunter died and President Hinckley took his place. It is a special time for our church. Each Prophet seems to bring with him a special focus and era of effort. President Hinckley was the only Prophet that Scott has known, but we both were happy that he was finally able to be reunited with his beloved wife. He was such a tower of strength, but you could tell it was harder for him these last few years. It was so appropriate to his Presidency that he was busy until the end. As a church, we knew he was getting old, but he seemed a bit invincible. So long as he was doing things, I think we thought he might go on forever. It was really touching to us to be able to review his life and remember the amazing things that he accomplished in his lifetime.

Oh, the Joy!

Daniel has been very cranky lately. Spurts of cheerfulness followed by explosions of high pitched temper tantrums. I was wondering if it was just the terrible two's kicking in a little early, but then I checked his mouth yesterday. He has 5 teeth coming in at the same time! One molar and four eye teeth. The last burst of teething brought 3 molars and an intense fever. Hopefully this time won't be so bad.

Meanwhile, we hear our house should be finished by the 23 of January, and we are hoping to close by the 30th. So I am going to start another dejunking regime. It is amazing the kind if crap you can accumulate in only a month and a half.

I am still in the middle of "morning sickness," which for me isn't as bad as most women. I haven't actually thrown up, but I have waves of nausea which can last all day. I also get extremely tired. I feel pretty good, if I am relaxing on the couch, but as soon as I get up to do things, I feel sick again. However, it isn't always consistent. There are mornings when I feel great! I get up, do dishes, clean up, etc. These days I know I better get things done, cause the evening time is when I am not going to feel up to doing anything. Add my little toddler and his desire to play with Mommy, and my poor house (basement) is the one that truly suffers. I think it is worse because we are living out of boxes, so even when it is clean, it doesn't feel orderly and nice. I hate working and cleaning, and not having the satisfaction that my house looks nice. Morning sickness has changesd my routine. The first goal of the day is to eat. This may or may not help me feel good enough to move on to my second goal, which is to get dressed in day clothes. After that, anything extra that gets done is quite the accomplishment.

If that happens, I am sure to tell Scott, and he congratulates me for it. I have found that I feel better when I leave the basement. Unfortunately, the basement gets dusty and stale, not to mention the fact that if our dog isn't washed regularly, he stinks. The Groomer told us the main reason for how strong he smells is that he isn't neutered. So, we are setting up an appointment to take care of that little issue. Anything to keep him from making my house smell like dog. If that doesn't work, the poor pooch will be strictly outdoors. He won't like it, he is incredibly social, but I do not like being hit with the smell of musky dog everytime I come downstairs.
