Excuses . . . and all that

Sorry, and many apologies for not posting for awhile. It has been a constant whirlwind of activity around here. We have been house hunting, preparing for students at our apartment complex, keeping Danny off the table, and had constant interruptions.

Meanwhile, I nearly have all of the welcome letters ready to send, they only need stamps. I was going to have them all done last week, but every time I get ready to mail them, someone calls and changes where I need to put people, so I have to go back to the drawing board. After I check the messages in the morning, I am mailing those suckers!

Scott and I are going to build a house! We are meeting with our Realtor tomorrow to draw up papers, then we will meet the builder, and we should be breaking ground within 2 weeks! I am so excited. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with an unfinished basement. The builder said it should be done within 4 months. So hopefully it will be a great Christmas Present for me! Then we will start working on the basement around February (we hope!) This was what my post on waiting was about, but I didn't want to say anything cause we weren't sure it would work out. . . but I think that it will! Yea!

Meanwhile, I am going to go see Hairspray tonight. Yea! Life is great.

On Matters of Weight

My little toddler does not have any concept of weight or proportion. This is very apparent when he tries to play with a particular toy. This toy uses the forces of air to send balls from one end and have them pop out the other. He loves this toy. He knows that when he puts a ball in, it should come out. However, he has been trying to put things into this toy that it wasn't designed to accept. Flashlights, pens, binkies, anything that will fit into the hole. Then he can't figure out why 1. they don't shoot out the other end, and 2. why the balls that belong won't fit into it either. He quickly learned that some balls are too big to fit into the toy. He no longer tries to shove his basketball into the ping-pong balls sized opening. However, he has a bouncy ball that he loves. It is red, lights up when bounced, and very cool. It is also considerably heavier than the balls used in the toy. It does fit down the tube, and comes out easily when the toy is upended, however the air pressure is not strong enough to push it out the other end. He cannot understand why it does this, and he isn't going to grasp a lecture on weight ratios and wind tunneling. I guess he will have to figure it out himself. Aaah the joys of discovery!

Waiting. . .

I hate waiting. Especially when I am excited about what is happening. I get ancy, and I also get very excited. I want so much to talk and chat about what might happen, but if I wait just a little bit, I will know for sure. A few more days and we could be very excited. . .

Aaaaargh!

I have been trying to post the Family Reunion all day yesterday, and then I tried again this morning. I really, really wanted to add pictures to it, but everytime I did, Blogger had a melt down. This morning it looked like it would happen again, by the time I was ready to call it quits, it suddenly worked.

Oh well, guess it all turns out good in the mean time.

Today will be a day of adventure, The Renaissance Fair, the Cedar Car Show, and Harry Potter are all going to be crammed into my exciting day. Danny will be happy because most of the day will be spent outdoors, and then he can hang out with Grandma, Grandpa and his Aunts while we sneak away in the wee hours of the night to enjoy the new movie.

On a side note: Transformers was freakin' Awesome! Go see it!

Family Reunion

It is truly wonderful to have an extended family who holds dear to their hearts the same values we do. There was so much sharing, laughter, and relaxed joy among the family. The younger generation listened to the older one share stories and anecdotes from their childhood, and we got to see our parents as brothers and sisters, as well as hear stories about us from our Aunts and Uncles points of view. Of my Grandparents 8 children, 5 were able to make it. . . and we had 6 of the 8 families represented. It was a pretty good turn out.

Scott loved it. He swam in the irrigation ditch, played ultimate frisbee, hung out with my cousins, etc.

Daniel also had a blast. He was outside almost all the time, and he played with his second cousins, was chased by the older children, and held by my aunts and uncles. I hardly saw him once we drove up to my aunt's house, he just took off for her back yard. He is sad now though, we don't have a nice, fenced backyard, and I won't let him go outside . . . our yard is a parking lot. He will pull me to the door and cry, it is pretty sad.

We visited Bear World, which had lots of bears, and a petting zoo. It was fun to watch Daniel get so excited over the animals. Having children is so much fun! It reminds you of the wonders this world has to offer.

Sorry - Been Sick

Daniel got sick on vacation, a sort of runny nose, coughing, non-fever kind. We got back sunday night, and awoke Monday morning to find that both Scott and I were sick too. We spent all day monday as zombies, trying to recover. Scott was better and able to go to work yesterday, I was still feeling ill, but I had to take Daniel to the doctor.

Daniel has an infection in his eyes, an ear infection, and a cough. We have to give him antibiotics, eye drops, tylenol, and acidophilous. He isn't a happy camper.

Today I am finally catching up on cleaning, as much as can be done with a clingy child. I will have to update you on our very fun Family Reunion later.
