Happy New Year's Eve

Well, it's time to say good-bye to 2011 and ring in 2012 :)  I, for one, will be glad to start a new year.  This has been a difficult one, but as Jim is always telling me, God doesn't give you more than you can handle :)  I am looking forward to the new year because I have so many new things headed my way.  One of those exciting things is a project my awesome friend, Lori, came up with on FaceBook.  It's the Twenty-Twelve in Photos - a daily photo project.  If you remember, I signed up to the 365 Project last year, but with all that happened over the year, just didn't give it the time like I should have; but am determined to keep this one going.
I went out last night and practiced with the new lens Jim gave me for Christmas and will share a few of those today but I hope you will come back often to view the pictures I post on a daily basis.

Please have a Happy New Year and enjoy every minute God has granted you because it is truly precious.

Love to you all.

It's so hard to ...

... believe that 2011 is almost over :(  I can't believe how fast it has flown; however, I am glad it is time to start a new year.  It has been a hard 2011 and I am hoping 2012 will be a brighter and joyful year.  I have been working on my goals for the new year and am a little nervous because there is so much I want to do and there is a lot of changes headed my way; however, I am so determined to do it :)  I believe my new handy-dandy calendar/note pad/project sheet will be my guide (it is now a stationary item in my purse).
I made this birthday card a few weeks back but haven't had the chance to post it yet.  I just love these colors and need to work with them more.

Well, I'm off to go make more Christmas goodies.  Have a great Monday.

Exciting news...

Hi everyone:

I hope this post finds everyone well.  I don't have a card to show you today, but have some exciting news to share that I couldn't contain any longer :)  As some of you may know, I have been wanting to be on a design team for a while now and have tried many times, but received word recently that I am now part of the design team for Just Tracys Crafts Challenge Blog.  How cool is that?  I say very cool.  I am so excited to be a part of this team and can't wait to begin the term in January.  I have participated in several of Just Tracys challenges and had so much fun.  There are so awesome ladies on the team and hope that you will head over to their blogs and take a look.
The December challenge is all about celebrations, so head over to their blog, take a look around and join in on the fun.

Enjoy :)

Two challenges

Well, it's Sunday and time to get ready for a new week.  I hope you all had a great weekend, I know I sure did.  I finally created a card using several challenges and realized how much I have missed them.  The first challenge is using Just Tracys "CELEBRATION" theme for December and since there is a lady in our office getting ready to have her first baby, thought this would be perfect for that theme; the second challenge comes from I{heart}2stamp who provided the sketch (love it).  I was really pleased with the results and hope that Tara will as well.
I hope each of use enjoy the week and I will see you soon.

It's Friday

One of our law clerks recently graduated from law school and passed the bar.  We were lucky enough to have him accept a position offered in our litigation department (he had the option of coming to our firm or the Supreme Court - now that would have been a very difficult choice for me, but am glad he chose us).  I was asked to make a congratulations card for him and as you know, masculine cards are difficult for me to make.  I have known Jason for a couple of years now and after much thought came up with these papers and colors, which I think fit him perfectly.  He came to see me after receiving it from the department and thanked me for making him a one of a kind card to help celebrate his wonderful accomplishment.  That meant a lot to me and has given even more incentive to try my hand at masculine cards more often.
I hope you all have a great weekend and plan on being back tomorrow - I told Jim I really need to start our Christmas cards, so I am hoping to be at my crafting table the majority of the weekend (I'm going to leave the decorating to him and Patrick - hopefully it will work out that way).

Enjoy

Happy Thursday everyone:

I hope this post finds everyone happy and doing well.  I'm going to be short tonight but wanted to show you a birthday card I did for the card box I keep at work for anyone who is looking for a card at the last minute.  I actually did a little coloring, which is something I haven't done in a while.  I've got to do more of that :)
Well, I'm off - it's getting late and 6:00 a.m. gets here way too early.  I am going to start my Christmas cards this weekend, so I'll be posting over the weekend.  See you then.

Have a happy Friday.

Tuesday ...

Well, it's Tuesday and only one more day of my work week - I'm so excited to have those extras days off.  I for one plan on sleeping in late every single one of them.

For my card today, I CASed this one from Eli and thought it turned out really well.  It was so simple and fits the personality of the sweet lady I'm giving it to.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday and will see you soon.

Happy Birthday and more

Hi everyone:

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  It has been a very lazy one here in my neck of the woods.  I have been trying to get back into the swing and as much as I try, I just can't seem to get there.  As mentioned in my last blog post, we have been having a trying time here in my family and ask that you please keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few months for healing and strength.
I did get some creating completed a few weeks back to replenish my box for work and will be showing some of what I have done over the next few posts.  Since it is a rainy day and I have a quiet house, I am going to try and do some more cards, blog hopping, emails and maybe even look at ideas for Christmas cards (hopefully I'll be able to get some out this year) done before it is over.

Have a great day

A teen boy's birthday

Happy Wednesday everyone:

I hope you have all being doing well this week.  We have had a trying week, but am sure we will overcome with the help of prayers, family and friends.
Patrick's school buddy is turning 13 this month and since his birthday falls on Thanksgiving, his parents went ahead and had a birthday party for him.  Patrick asked me to make Andrew a birthday card at the last minute (UGH) and couldn't tell the lad no, so I told him he had to help me.  Well, we had a total of 20 minutes to put a card together - Patrick told me that Andrew's favorite colors are green and blue, so I came up with the paper and Patrick picked the rest (the candle represents the "1" and the brads represent "3" to make the total 13 - get it? - Patrick thought that was a perfect idea on his part - I don't disagree).  I am totally shocked I finished this card in 10 minutes - we were really pleased with how it turned out.  I think I'm going to get Patrick to help me more often :)

I hope you all have a great rest of the week and I'll talk to you soon.

Supplies - basic grey Oliver paper, stampin up twine, Tim Holtz forest moss ink - I'm not sure about the stamp or brads.

Boss's Day

Well, we are half way to the weekend and I am so glad because I have so much fun things planned for the weekend, I can't wait for it to get here (lots of creating is on that list as well as learning how to digital scrapbook).
Boss's Day was this past Sunday (why it was on a Sunday, I have no idea, but ...) and was asked to make some cards for several of the attorneys in our firm.  It made me realize that I need to make one for my boss tomorrow (I ran out of time tonight) - I am so blessed to have a great boss and am very grateful for him.

I hope you have a great day tomorrow and I anticipate on being back tomorrow.

My Mind's Eye

Hey everyone:

It's me again :)  I hope you have all been doing well and creating a lot.  I have several birthdays I am behind on and will be showing you some of them over the next few days.  This first one is made using My Mind's Eye Lush paper, ribbon (I had so much trouble getting this tied to look right, but after a while, just tied it and went with it) and brad - the flower is from Prisma.  I just love these colors and it was fun making this.

I hope everyone enjoys their Wednesday.

Where have I been :)

Hey:

Well, it's been a while, but I have been busy and out of town for a few days.  Patrick was out of school Friday and today so we planned a short trip to celebrate the good work he is doing at school.  I wanted to share a few pictures of our wonderful trip (these are of  the Natural Bridge, Virginia, Mabry Mill, Virginia, Crabtree Falls, North Carolina and other various pictures of the Blue Ridge Parkway).  The weather was beautiful and as you can see, the trees were so colorful - they were beautiful.  We have another trip to the mountains planned next weekend, so I may not be posting much over the next few weeks, but bare with me, I'm coming :)

I hope everyone is well and I'll see you soon.

Something a little different today

Hey there - it's almost Friday - well, here in my neck of the woods - for those of you who are already there - I'm jealous :)

Today, I decided to show you something other than a card and hope that I'll be posting more scrapbook layouts in the coming months - I am so far behind with my layouts and have to get busy on them.

A few years back Patrick and Jim went to see the USC Gamecocks football game and I gave Patrick a disposable camera so he could take pictures of his adventure.  Well, he came back with some of the most amazing pictures - it was neat to see how he saw the day.  He helped me put his scrapbook together and it was so much fun.  I recently entered a design team call and entered this layout - Patrick helped me pick it out and thought he did a great job.

I hope you enjoy.  I probably won't post anything new tomorrow, but will be back over the weekend.

Have a great Friday

Last baby card

Hey:

Here is the last of the baby cards I made for my friend and it is the once she asked me to make for her older son, who is 16 months.  I love this embossing folder and can see myself using it a lot more in the coming months.

I will have something new for you tomorrow :)

Enjoy your evening

Twin cards

Hey:

Three days in a row, I'm doing good :)  Here are the cards I made for my friends who had twins recently.  I have one more to show you and will be back tomorrow to show you.

I'm sorry for having a short post today, Patrick is swamped with algebra homework that he needs help with and then has leadership starting soon, so I'm off to help out.

Have a great evening.

Big Brother

Good evening:
As promised, here is the card I made for my friend from work who just had twins.  She asked me to make a card for their big brother, Anderson.  Anderson is 16 months, so I struggled with what to do and after talking to his mom, she and her husband are going to write something meaningful and place it in his baby book so he can read it when he gets older.  This is what I finally came up with; I just love the colors of this card and thought it turned out pretty good.

I'll be back tomorrow with the cards I made for the twins.

Have a great evening and see you tomorrow

Pinterest

Hey everyone:

I don't have a card to post right now, that's going to come later, but wanted to share a new and fun place to be a part of.  Recently, a friend told me about Pinterest and if you haven't heard of this, you need to take a look at it because I have found it to be a great place to keep all your wonderful finds (creative and otherwise) in one generalized place (no more cut, paste and print to put into a binder for me).  I am putting a button on my sidebar (upper left hand corner) where you can click and it will take you to my Pinterest page.  I would love for you to start following me and if you do, I'll visit your page and do the same.  As Pinterest says, "happy pinning."

It is a lot of fun and like I said, a great place to keep you a little more organized and meet new people.

I'll be back later on today with the "big" brother card I promised last night.  See you later.

They're having twins ...

Hi everyone:
It is nice to be back posting a card I made onto my blog once again and hope you won't be disappointed with what I show you.  We have 3 ladies in my office who are/had twins over the summer and one of them asked me to make some cards for her.  She wanted me to make her husband a card so she can give it to him after the birth of the twins (a boy and a girl) along with a card for their older brother.  As we were talking, she asked me if I thought it would be a good idea to have one made for each of the children so she and her husband could write something special in them and give it to them later on in life - how sweet is that and of course, I said yes.  Over the next few days, I'm going to show you those cards.  The first one I'm showing you is the one I made for her husband.  It was very difficult coming up with something for twins, but after doing some research, found a card something like the one you see and feel in love with it.  The lady I CASED this from (I'm sorry, I can't remember who it was) had used a "double the love" stamp but since I didn't have it, used my computer, printed it out and colored in the cute little faces.  Nina loved the card and I can't wait until she gets back to work so I can find out how her husband liked it.  I'll be back tomorrow with the one I did her the "big brother".

Have a great Monday

Well, I believe ...

... I'm making a comeback :)  Well, I'm going to give it a try.  It has gotten a little slower here, so I'm going to give it a shot.  For my first "come-back" post, I'm going to put up a great giveaway by my wonderful friend Sonia, over at Archiving Angel.  Sonia has the best blog where she gives us great tips, fabulous finds, etc. - believe me, they are awesome and has gotten me in the purchasing mode many times :)  Sonia is trying to reach 500 followers and doesn't have to far to go, so please head over to her blog, Archiving Angel, and become a follower for a chance to win - you will NOT be disappointed.

I'll be back soon to post a few cards that I have worked on while on hiatsis.  See you soon.

Life is Happening

Hey everyone:

I hope all is well with everyone.  I apologize for not coming by to see everyone and know that you are all putting out some beautiful work, but I just haven't been able to do this like I had hoped.  I'm going to have to hang up my blogging hat for a while :(  As you know, my father-in-law passed away the latter part of April and my mother-in-law is struggling with not just that, but she isn't healthy herself, so we have been keeping her company (luckily our daughter Elizabeth stays with her, but we still need to make sure she is comfortable, etc.).  This summer was extremely busy and I was hoping the school season would slow it down a little bit, but that hasn't happened and I don't see it happening anytime soon; therefore, I am going to stop blogging because I just can't seem to get it done like I wanted.  I do plan on being back, but am not sure when that will be.  I do hope that you will email me from time to time to see how things are going and I am planning on doing that as well because I can't stop talking to the awesome friends I have met throughout the years.  Hopefully creating will start back up again and I have tried over the past week, but every time I sit down and try, it just doesn't work - I not only have so much going on, my mojo has said good-bye :(

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially my mother-in-law.  I will be back as soon as I can.  Sending love to each of you.

~~HUGS~~

It's a purple challenge :)

Hi everyone:

It's almost the weekend and am very excited - Patrick is coming back home this weekend.  He has been staying with my parents some this summer and I have missed the little man:)
The card I am showing you today is being submitted for a DT call for Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo and Sami is asking that we submit a project using the color purple.  I have participated in Sami's color challenges throughout the years and love each one of them.

I hope you all have a great Thursday.

Stamping 411

Hey:

Can you believe it?  I have posted 4 days in a row now and I'm kind of liking that :)

My card today is, guess what, a birthday day card :)  I used the sketch challenge from Stamping 411 and was totally surprised by how difficult it was for me - I just couldn't get anything to look right, but it finally came together :) and do like the outcome.

This is going to be a short post because I have some other cards I need to get started on - everyone have a great evening and I'll hopefully see you tomorrow.

Jennifer's birthday and Just Tracys Crafts Challenge

Hey there everyone - it's Tuesday, man this week has gone by so fast already :)  I was catching up a little bit (I'm slowly but surely getting there) and came across Just Tracys Crafts Challenge blog again and saw that they have a new Design Team member and when I saw her name, was so excited.  Karen, who is the sweetest lady, was asked to be on the DT when another friend Claire left at the end of July.  I have known Karen, Jill, Linda and Claire for a few years now and it has been such a pleasure getting to know them and look forward to many more happy years with them all.   CONGRATULATIONS Karen.
I am using their theme challenge "Happy Birthday", which is perfect for me this week because as I have mentioned already, I have tons of birthday cards I need to make this month and picked this one to submit for the challenge.  I made this card for my great friend Jennifer; we have known each other for almost 9 years now and I am so blessed to have her in my life and thank God for her daily.  Jennifer, I hope you had an awesome birthday and I love you !!!

I really enjoyed doing this card and it was the first time I used Kimberly Crawford's Mint Motif Cake Shoppe I and II sets I purchased months ago from i{heart}papers (they are FABULOUS).  I CASED this card, but am so sad that I can't remember from whom - I have to do better about writing these things down when I am going through them.

I'm going to work on more cards tonight and surprisingly, they aren't birthday cards :)

Enjoy your evening.

Debbie's birthday

Happy Monday everyone:

I hope you all had a great day - it was very busy on my end and can already see that the week is going to be that way, but not to worry, that just means the weekend will get here faster :) As I stated in my post yesterday, I have many birthdays coming up this month and the card I am showing you is one I gave to my awesome friend Debbie, whose birthday was yesterday (I'm sorry for the delay in getting this to you Debbie). I used the sketch from CPS and color challenge from CR84FN34. This was my first time doing a challenge for CR84FN and can see that I will be a frequent visitor - I loved both the sketch and the colors in this card (unfortunately you can't really see the celery color in it, but it's there) and it was great fun making. Debbie, I hope you had a great birthday and am very privileged to have you as my friend.

I hope you all have an enjoyable evening and I'll see you back tomorrow.

I hope it's not too late ...

Hey everyone - I hope you all have had a great few weeks while I have been waiting for my mojo to return after getting back from vacation; it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  Well, having tons of birthdays coming up this month pushed me to get started up again and as you all know, I use loads of challenges to lend me a hand.  The first card I prepared uses the July sketch from I{heart}2stamp and didn't realize until just a moment ago that this is the last day of July, so I am hoping I'm not too late - where does the time go?  I will show you the others as the week goes along because I don't want the recipients to see their cards before they receive them :)
This was a fun challenge and helped me so much in getting a masculine birthday card prepared for my friend at work.

I hope you all have a great evening and I hope to see you tomorrow.

Well, I'm back ...

... from our 18 day vacation out to California on the motorcycle.  What fun that was and I can't wait to get some pictures up for you soon.  When I got onto my blog just now, I see some changes have been made to Blogger while I was away and can't wait to see what all they are - so far it looks good.

Please bear with me while I get my bearings back in tow, which hopefully won't be too long :)

Have a great week and I'll see you in the coming week (hopefully).

Black Tie Affair

My post today is for The Robin’s Nest design team call that was posted on their blog site Chattering Robins back in May. I am so excited about trying out with them because I love using dew drops; however, when I visited their website, discovered they have other things as well.  I purchased the dew drops I have from our local scrapbook store and had never been on their store site before and know that I will be visiting there often.
The card I am showing you is for a friend’s upcoming wedding and their color scheme is cream, black and hot pink – I love those colors. Terri said to think outside the box when designing our project for the DT submission and let me tell you, I did that with this card. If you know me and my style, I am one that doesn’t use a lot of bling, but I must say, that is surely going to change after doing this card because it was so much fun to create. I also did something different with the ribbon and I was so excited when I was finished – I really do like how this card turned out.

As part of the DT submission, I am to provide you with directions on how I made this card, so here you go:

1)   cut black card stock to make an A6 card base;
2)   cut the dot designer paper to measure 6 x 5/34 and place on top of
     the card;
3)   take 3 pieces of ribbon (2 sheer and 1 black satin) and braid them (you
      will cut off the excess when you start the assembly process);
4)   cut the damask patterned designer paper to measure 5 1/2 x 4;
5)   cut the black card stock to measure 4 1/4 x 3 1/4;
6)   cut the cream card stock to measure 4 x 3;
7)   layer the paper as follows: damask patterned paper, black card stock
     and cream card stock;
8)   after layering, take your ribbon and adhere one end to the back portion
     of the stacked paper and run it around the front;
9)   adhere the end of your ribbon with a glue dot or other type of adhesive
     to the edge of the damask patterned designer paper;
10)  take the created paper stack and place it on the dot designer paper;
11)  place the crystal bling and center it to your liking;
12)  cut a black mat using Nestabilities classic scalloped ovals LG;
13)  place a Robin's Nest dew drop on both sides of the oval adhering it with
     glue dots mini adhesive;
14)  stamp your sentiment and cut out using another Nestabilities classic
     scalloped oval LG one size smaller than the mat cut out earlier;
15)  sponge the outside of the sentiment oval with the same color you
     stamped your sentiment with (I used PTI Raspberry Fizz);
16)  take your completed sentiment and place on top of the card layers using
     dimensional; and
17)  enjoy

supplies used:
  GinaK cardstock
  K&Company designer paper pack
  Inkadinkado wedding stamp set
  Prima crystal bling
  Offray black satin and cream sheer ribbon
  Nestabilities classic scalloped oval LG
  Robin's Nest red dew drops
  SU dimensionals

I appreciate you coming by today and I hope you all have a great Monday

Bright and colorful

Hey everyone:

Wow, what a week it has been, but tomorrow is a good day because it is the beginning of the weekend - woo-hoo !!

Here is a card I made using The Paper Players color challenge and when I saw the colors, thought at first it was going to be a difficult one to do; but after getting an idea in my head of what I wanted to do, went to town.  Aren't they bright and colorful - perfect for this time of year.
I hope you are all ready for the weekend and looking forward to some relaxation - I have some packing to do for Patrick - he is going to camp with his big brother this week and they are looking forward to it - what fun they will have white water rafting, ziplining and watching a big screen tv on a lake - the life of being a 12 year old boy :)  Jim and I are gearing up for our motorcycle trip and it will be here before we know it - woo-hoo.

Well, it is late here, so I'm going to say goodnight and hope you have a great Friday.
