Weekend Whirlwind

Our weekend has been CRAZY!! And our idea of a 3 day project... will actually spill into Monday, why? Let's find out shall we??
M took Friday off to get started on the closet, while I attempted to keep the kids busy. So while Em napped, Noah and I went to check out his new preschool!! We are on a wait list, but no one is ahead of us, is that much is good.

The lady that runs it, said she would try to squeeze him in whenever she could to get him started. The program runs from 8:30-11:30, is just around the corner from us and is run by the school board.      He did love it!! He was a bit shy with the teacher, but had no problem socializing with the other kids! I know leaving him will be an issue, so I tried to bring his attention to the fact that no parents were there, just lots of kids having fun! But we will see how it goes!

It was long after we got home that my cousin came over for a lunch date. The kids played for a bit, before we got them ready for a picnic style lunch in the great room! It didn't work out the best, but it worked, the kids and ate and Noah slowing began to fall apart as nap time was behind schedule. Once they left, we got both kids down. The key was trying to be quiet while working in the mudroom, as it is right below Noah's room!!

After nap, Noah really wanted to help Daddy, so we let him, which of course slows things down a bit, but he was really good!!

M and I were toying with the idea of moving the washer and dryer, but in the end, we decided to just move them down on that wall and then have a laundry cabinet custom built.

Saturday was crazy! We started off working on the mudroom, before Noah's swimming lessons! He sure does love the pool!! I have him signed up for gymnastics on Saturday mornings and swimming for both Em and him on Sundays! It will be a big transition time for him, as he will be on his own without us parents in the class with him, so we will see how that goes!! After swimming, we grabbed lunch and a few groceries, before heading to a first birthday party for my cousins son!

Yes this is officially in naptime territory and a Em did sleep on M's shoulder for a small amount of time, as she also missed her morning nap due to sleeping in! But both kids were doing soo well - we could hardly believe it!

The rest of the day was spent working on the closet, making supper and entertaining these two!!

Sunday was spent at home working away on the closet. Noah and I FINALLY watched Finding Dory! Loved it!!

Miss Emilya turned 11 months old and we re-introduced her walker and she did soo well with it! Crazy the difference a couple weeks make?? Clearly she is going through a growth spurt right now because she is not going to bed very well or settling very easy.... but she is soo stinking cute and I can hardly believe she is 11 months. Party planning is in full force over here!!

These two had one heck of a good play outside and we have been working on training Maggie, she is getting pretty big (as you can see) and very trainable, she is just stubborn, but we will work it out!

Depite the chaos in the house, we did make a roast beef dinner!! We let the kids stay up a bit later, to see if it would encourage Noah to sleep later (news flash, it didn't, he woke earlier) and then I attempted mudding the walls and corners in the mudroom, because well, let's just say it's not Mike's strong point. Mike built the closet organizer at least while I was doing that.    And then Miss Em decided to wake up at 11 and stay up until after 2 AM... fun times I tell ya. And then Mr. Noah woke up at 6 AM...   So I am trying a new essential oil blend today from DōTERRA called cheer and soo far it is helping!! It might just become my new fave!!

Weekend Rewind

Just when you think things might slow down after vacation, they don't! We had another busy weekend under our belts!!

Friday night I went to my friends house to help her pack. We tackled her closet, got caught up on each other lives and had quite a few laughs!! It was fun, just like the good old days :)

Saturday morning I started painting Noah's room!! Buying black paint was daunting enough, but actually opening the can and putting it on the walls was soo scary! I would be lying if I didn't second guess it as I was taking before pictures!! BUT, I will say after the paint dried I LOVE it!!! It is the look I was going for, and I cannot wait to get the room put together!!

Noah had swimming, a quick stop at Wal-Mart, picked up lunch and headed home. My Mom came to watch the kids for M and I, so we could go to the fireman's wing night. A lot of drinks were had, the food was good and overall it was a pretty good time!!

Luckily no hangover come Sunday morning - thank you good genes! We had Noah's birthday party with my family planned for 10 AM. So we tidied quickly and then enjoyed some family time to celebrate Noah!

We decided to let the kids build their own pizzas, that was a bit crazy with a hungry three year old, but we made the best of it! The sparklers I bought didn't light properly, so that was a fail, but the cupcakes I made were good! The kids had fun.

Sunday afternoon I finished painting Noah's room and I am soo pleased with how it turned out!! Yes, there will be a post coming up on this. Sunday night impromptu plans came together with the girls to watch the Oscars together. Well, we got together, champagne and all, but we didn't watch the Oscars! It had been a month since we had gotten together, so clearly we had a lot of catching up to do!

Monday morning came early, as well all headed to Em's audiologist appointment. We decided to finally order Em her own hearing aid. We had been a part of a loaning program to try one out for a bit to see how it worked for us. It was a hard decision to choose the color, as the device is quite pricey and we had to consider various scenarios, but in the end we chose the gold one. The can change the tubing often enough and can have fun with that color-wise, but overall, I want it neutral, I don't want her aid to stand out, so matching her hair was key. We considered the color because it would be easier to find if she pulled it out and we couldn't find it. But I want her to be comfortable around her peers in it and not have it be an obvious device for her.

After her appointment we headed to the mall for a bit. The kids were great and the mall was not busy. I had a list of NEEDS, not just wants. I needed a swimsuit top that the kids couldn't pull off of me, and that I actually felt comfortable in. I had one in mind and found exactly what I was looking for! And then the lady brought me another one she thought would work well for me and it was great. It fit amazing and well, I ended up with two.

So we grabbed lunch and headed home, and decided new undies and bras could wait. And then the rest of the day went down hill from there because we had a no-nap Noah on our hands!!! He is definitely not ready to start skipping naps, nor is this mama ready!!

Tuesday Noah went to work with Daddy in the morning, giving me some one on one time with Miss Em, who then spoiled me with a monster morning nap, allowing me to get some computer work done, clear camera cards, etc.

Yesterday we had the library program in the morning, which Noah was sooo good through, especially since he woke up at 6:30 and then this morning was 6.... so we need to work on that.

Today I had another dentist appointment! One more to go! Well two if you count accomplishing my goal of filling my gap. I can hardly wait and it has gotten me through all of the appointments soo far!!

Emilya - 9 Months

Eating: Emilya loves food!! She is much less picky, however when I first introduce foods, she tries not to like it. I'm still introducing foods every three days, I know it's not necessary, but it works for us and usually by the 3rd day she likes the new food!! She is nursing about 3-4 times and day and getting a bottle of pumped milk every morning. Little Miss also loves snacking, with puffs being her favorite! Feeding herself with finger foods is also her favorite, I'm puréeing less and less these days because with all her teeth, she's able to chew more! With the introduction of homo milk, we slowed back down on food introduction just be sure of no issues. We then took out her morning bottle of pumped milk and replaced it with homo milk, which meant no more pumping for this mama!!!

Food she has has tried this past month:
Strawberries
Homo milk
Apricot
Potatoes
Sweet potato
Cauliflower

Sleeping: Emilya is still a great sleeper. She is wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30, naps around 9:30 for anywhere between 30-90 minutes. I wake her up if she sleeps longer. She will nap again between 1:30/2:00 for the same window of time depending on how long her morning nap was. She starts getting fussy around 6 PM and has her bath by 6:45 and ready to nurse and go to bed by 7/7:15. We still rock/bounce her to sleep, but she still much easier to get down than Noah ever was and it doesn't take nearly as long. She will nurse herself to sleep for naps.

Clothing: Emilya is wearing a mix between 9 months and 12 months. By half way through this month, I pulled all the 9 month pants out and transitioned mostly to 12 months. Baby girl is LONG!! She still doesn't mind headbands, which makes me a happy mom!! She is still wearing most 9 month sleepers, with a few Christmas 12 month sleepers. We attempted size 4 diapers, however they were too big on her, so we are back in size 3's!

Features: Emilya has blue eyes and her hair is definitely blonde!! Her hair is growing a bit more again. Em has 8 teeth!!!

Weight: 8 Months:  18 lbs 15 oz   29 inches
              9 Months:  19 lbs 3 oz     29.75 inches

What The Doctor Had To Say: We saw the nurse practitioner just for a wellness check and all was good!!

Nicknames: Emma, Em, Ems, Emmy Bear, Emmy Bunny, Emma Hope, Little Miss, Littlest Squish, Baby girl, Baby Bunny, Emilya Hope, Sis

Big Brother Update: Noah is great with her for the most part, he will still take toys from her, which we are mostly on top of, but when she is sad, he is eager to make her happy by giving her toys or singing patty cake. He loves to make her laugh and help us feed her, and especially loves bathing with her!! It seriously warms my heart watching them together, whether its playing together, eating together or bathing together. They have an incredible bond already and Em looks up to Noah soo much and you can tell he is one of her favorite people!!

Likes: army crawling - she refuses to get up on her hands and knees and relies on her army crawl to get her from point A to point B and she's fast! It literally looks like she is swimming across the floor! She loves her brother, the dogs, blankets, her lovie, little people play sets, her brothers toys. She enjoys baths and snuggles, patty cake, abc's, twinkle twinkle, and dancing. She has just started pulling up on stuff

Dislikes: her face being washed, and being in the dark in the car.

Personality: Emilya is still pretty much the happiest baby - not much upsets her. She is getting stronger and stronger everyday and I don't think it will be long before she starts pulling up on things or actual crawling. This girl loves to move!!  She added "Mama" to her vocabulary, which of course brought tears to my eyes. Is there anything sweeter than first words or firsts?? Em has 8 teeth... 8!! By the end of this past month, she just started to pull herself up on the baby gates! I still cant believe my eyes when she does this! Just another sign that she isn't a baby anymore!! She loves patty cake, playing with Noah, snuggling with blankets and playing shy. She has the sweetest soul and warms a room with her smile.

Back From Vacay

Wow, this blog has been too quiet for too long, but a vacation was needed. Here is to hoping next week I can get Emilya's 9 month post up, as well as our vacation recap, Noah's 3 year update and well whatever else I am behind on.

I working hard on establishing a home routine and in that, I need to make time for myself to start writing again. I'm still hoping to get 3 posts up a week, with Monday being a weekend recap, Tuesday-Thursday (one of those days) open topic, and Friday being a weekly recap or 5 on Friday. Those are the goals.

Some other goals are getting my body and health back under control. I've been feeling soo stressed and sluggish lately, then it dawned on me, I haven't been taking my Vitamin Supplements and remembering that I am B12 and Folate anemic, it makes a big difference when my body is functioning properly. I am also going to get back on the work out train, hopefully with the supplements, I will feel energized enough to keep up with it! I've just gotta get back on track!!

We will hopefully be starting the mudroom Reno next weekend. We will have the new doors installed next week (hopefully). The plan is to build a new closet, move the furniture around and paint. I'm also hoping to get Noah's room repainted soon, so we can get his room done. I need to get Em's nursery finished as well. Poor second child syndrome... I mean she has what she needs, I'm just adding girly touches, but I would love to get it done.
Today I'm heading to sign Noah up for gymnastics for the spring session, hopefully the wait isn't too long!! I also have a few other errands to run while I'm out!! We have a busy weekend ahead!!

Weekend Rewind

We had a quieter weekend at home, working away at a DIY project that M and I are pretty excited about.
Friday, we spent most of the morning at the Ivey Eye Institute at the hospital getting Em's eyes checked, well only a small part of that was checking, the rest was spent waiting. I am grateful for toy areas,  but they make my skin crawl all at the same time!! We are in operation keep the kids healthy before we go away next week and of course now Em has a runny nose...

But the good news is that Em's vision is great!! No concerns there whatsoever at this point!!! Just the news we were hoping for!! Hopefully the genetics testing we did will give us some answers as to what has caused her hearing loss!
We came straight home afterwards, since it was naptime and I am just not willing to budge on naps at this point, because I know Noah will be outgrowing them soon enough and well that is my "mamas sanity time". Both kids went down and M went to work for a bit.

The paint I ordered on Wednesday was ready for pick up, so I ran into town to pick that up, stopped at Carter's - dangerous and grabbed pizza on the way home! Before we knew it crazy hour hit the house and it was about time to start bath and bedtime!

Saturday morning Noah had swimming and then we needed to pick up a few supplies for our DIY project. Luckily Noah loves Home Depot, he's pretty much the only one. His new favourite thing is fake sleeping in the car:

Except the joke is really on him, because he almost ALWAYS falls asleep....

We couldn't find exactly what we were looking for, so it meant once we got the kids down for nap, I ran back into Home Hardware and well they didn't either, so I bought what I could and we made do!
After nap the boys went out to work on the headboard, while Em and I worked on laundry and well walking...

I also worked on picking a stain colour!

While I was making supper, Em was making something up of her own too!!! I love that she actually lets me get stuff done for the most part! A luxury I never had with Noah!

After the kids went down, M went back out to the shop to work on the headboard!

Sunday morning was made up of a trip to Home Depot - again, just the boys this time, some snow blowing, except M couldn't get the snow blower to work.... so Noah played outside while waiting and we had a little family train building after lunch

During nap, M finished building the headboard and then started sanding it. I'm soo in love with it!!!

M finally got the snow blower after nap, so the boys were outside working on that while I played wth our 10 month old!! How is Miss Emilya 10 months already???

I made the kids some supper, while M and Noah went to pick up wings from the pub here in the village.

We of course watched Luke Bryan sing the anthem and watched some of the super bowl before it was time the get the kids in the bath. Apparently when we took Em out of the tub, it meant Maggie could get in... trouble...

I was going to stain the headboard, however M insisted on it, so he went and stained it. It looks soo great!!!

We had a low key Monday, up until post nap when we surprised Noah with going out to have dinner with the Paw Patrol!!! The staff at Eastsides said Noah was the most excited they had seen so far!! He was sooo excited to see Marshall and Chase!! Surprisingly he actually ate his dinner too!!

Needless to say, we had one happy boy!!

Today we had a play date at the indoor soccer field, they only charge $2 and from 10-11 is toddler time. They put some balls out and let the kids run the field. Noah loved it!!!
