feline

This week's OLW is all about cats and dogs. I decided to go the digital route for this particular challenge, and will get some cards printed from my online photo site, leaving the inside blank to fill in.

The font is called Cry Kitty. Thanks to Rhonda for providing the photo of her Posie!

Another year of senior high youth group is drawing to a close. This past semester we've been going through the Vintage Jesus series and it's been really good: a lot of basic knowledge, but several points for even the more mature believer to get his or her teeth into. Some of the lessons sparked quite a bit of discussion and some really were motivating.

Tonight, for example, was about Jesus' return (I know, ironic, right?) and what that means for followers of Jesus and non-believers. The part that was most motivating was the thought that God has laid out plans for all of us, if we wish to follow Him. They are good plans and can lead to rewards in heaven (when we get there). Before dinner, Chris threw out the idea of going down to help with the cleanup in Missouri. The teens had several excuses about why they wouldn't be able to go. After the lesson (which is after dinner), one of the teens piped up that he'd really like to go help the tornado victims.

Very cool.

sightseeing

Neither Chip nor I had been to the Black Hills of South Dakota, so that was our destination for the post-tax season getaway this year. We saw all kinds of wonders, from the nifty animals to the variety of landscapes (including a stop in the Badlands) to lovely artwork done by locals.

Here's a small taste of our trip, starting in Sioux Falls and ending at Mt. Rushmore:

Feel like they're going too fast or are too small? Click on the photo and a bigger one will open up in another window.

sweet home

The best thing about One-Layer Wednesday is the ease of the challenge (sometimes), as you're not allowed a lot of 'fluff' in your design. This week I actually was inspired and created the following house card:

Now, I must admit, I don't completely love this, but perhaps a bit of tinkering is in order. For example, the hello part is green to simulate grass--I can try adding more grass somehow along with the sentiment. Or maybe I'm not thrilled with my color choices. Anyway. There it is.

treillage

Chip has been doing little* woodworking projects lately, thanks to tax season eating up most of his time. (Head colds ate up the rest.) Spring has taken forever to get here this year, so we only got into the garden a couple of weekends ago. This included a new pea trellis, which Chip whipped out in a couple of days:

I'm excited to see how it works. I'm hoping the pea vines will grow as decoratively as I imagine them to.

*I probably should clarify, as the trellis is 5' tall... he's been doing projects that don't take a long time to complete.

Our Easter baskets were woefully lacking this year and that includes the fact that mine had no grass. I picked some up after the holiday (clearance! cheap! yay!) and told Chip it was for my basket. Little did I know he'd pile the entire bag into my basket:
