SF eating
Ventured into SF once again for our weekly (or bi-weekly) visit to satisfy the gastronome in us. Its funny that in my single days, the only reason i used to venture out to the CITY was for clubbing. We tried a french bistro in russian hill district called the Hyde park bistro . Parking was the usual party pooper.. it took us more than 45 minutes to find parking. The foods cheered us though.. i tried their platter of sea food while my wife tried the lamb sirloin dish.

I have almost finished the book i was reading.. George Orwell's classic 1984. Sometimes this blog reminds me the thrill of sharing my personal thoughts.. the same way Winston, the protagonist in 1984, feels when he first opens and writes in his diary:
From the age of uniformity, from the age of solitude, from the age of Big Brother, from the age of doublethink---greetings!

Hedge funds, LTCM fiasco....

I have been trying to read and increase my knowledge of these funds and strategies which form the crux of what is called "the alternative financial instruments"...turns out they are pretty interesting creatures. The concept of "leverage" is that you can sell a security even before you own it ... a "short"... the concept is baffling and I think i am going to read the book on LTCM: When genius failed - The rise and fall of Long term capital management (when i get time that is...)

existential pleasures of eating

My wife and I did something we had forgotten to do in a while... plan a nice evening and eat out. Just the two of us. I picked a nice "Nuevo Latino" restaurant called La Luna. I would highly recommend this quaint restaurant nestled near south van ness and 24th street. I loved the succulent lamb skewers topped with a tomato and garlic sauce. Excellent wine selection, particularly some Argentinean wines... ended with a nice flan extravaganza.

Promised ourselves that we got to do this more often!! Next adventure: Spanish tapas bar...

Nothing much going on nowdays. I have tried to get back to my gym routine. I try to go regularly (3 times a week) and focus on getting my core muscles worked out... first day: The B's (biceps and back), second day: Triceps, shoulder, neck, third day : Chest and legs. Abdominals on all 3 days... quick aerobic on most days...and one long aerobic session once a week. I check this site often for workout tips.

My favorite work out exercises:
chest: what else, the bench press
biceps: barbell curl
triceps: french barbell curl
neck: shrug with dumbells
shoulders: machine press

I have to watch what i am eating too... (more on that coming up).
