Yan Can Cook!

Whenever I tell others my name, they have difficulty remembering, hence, others address me as Yan, for simplicity's sake. I can really cook! It's true! I know more often than not, others will look at me in disbelief whenever I say that. Haha... Here are some pretty recent dishes I whipped up!

Steamed Saba fish with brown rice and miso potato soup! This is one awesome goodness, though I cheated by using seasoned Saba. Hahaha. Well, at least I managed to pull it off! My diners were happy people at the end of the meal. I love to cook, simply because I feel happy when others eat my food. So, next time when I have my own children, I will definitely put in more effort into preparing healthy and nutritious meals for them.

Which coffee shop stall sells this delish looking noodles?

Haha, of course it comes from someone with skillful hands! This is a mixture of brown rice noodles n longevity white noodles, together with cod fish balls, lettuce, mushrooms and pan fried anchovies. This was tonight's dinner and both sister and I loved it!

I love all kinds of mushrooms except enoki mushrooms because they clump up together n makes it really hard for u to chew them. Yay to mushrooms!

Ground Breaking Ceremony

Dr. Lim Wee Kiak was the guest of honor during yesterday's ground breaking ceremony, for the new extension building, housing 50 beds for residents with dementia. It's a pity that I did not witness the process as I was out at Social Service Institute representative government boss for a course. The good thing is, I did not miss out all that fun! Here's us holding that golden spade after the guests have left. Look at that giant gong!

These flower arrangements were done by our fellow purchaser from the office! He learnt it from scratch, just by looking at videos. Nice!

Yesterday was indeed a day of fun for all of us and this Saturday we will have yet another CNY celebration!

Getting Ready for Lunar New Year

My bags from Tao Bao has finally arrived! I bought these two fancy bags, together with a key board for my laptop at a total price of $30! It is definitely a steal because the watermelon clutch is sold at an expensive price at SG, roughly 40 bucks? However, ordering from Tao Bao is a headache for me because everything is in mandarin! I can read mandarin, but too much of it gives me a headache. So I asked my cousin to help me place orders since she has an account there. Love my babies!

I dun fancy eating white rabbit candies, but this is one cutie that I must lay my hands on! I love these wacky looking bags!

Rest In Peace

Just received news that dad's best friend has passed on. It is quite a huge blow to us because he calls dad almost everyday n they used to work in the same gasoline company, sending gasoline cylinders to households. I feel extremely upset because I always see him around whenever I go out with dad. He's not just dad's friend, but mine too. Life's too short for him... He was just about to start his chemotherapy for his stage 4 brain cancer but because of an infection of the wound on his head,  he was robbed of this chance. Dad is very upset about this sudden loss; all of us do. At least he does not have any pain now. Rest in peace,  Kim Huat. Thanks for being my dad's best friend.

River Cruise

I was fortunate enough to get a free ticket for river cruise again! This is because I wouldn't spend $25 on a boat ride just to see the skyscrapers of Singapore, thus it is a thrill for me to get this free ticket. Anyway, I love freebies! Haha. This is the second time I am going for a boat ride. Previously, I went for it with breadman in the afternoon, so this time I get to go for it at night, mission accomplished! The scenic views are breathtaking and I am amazed at how good my 20.7 mp phone camera from Sony z3+ is, at capturing these beautiful night scenes. Let's hope you will enjoy these following pictures, I did not take many photos because I was just immersing myself into the beauty of the night views.

Can you believe this is Singapore? I am truly blessed to be a citizen here!

Jenny Bakery Cookies

Finally tried the highly raved Jenny Bakery cookies from Hong Kong! Although it is available in Singapore now, the price is jacked up and be prepared to queue for hours! So, here's a small tin of cookies in the 4 mix flavors: flower, coffee, short bread and raisin oat. My favorite is the coffee flavored one. These cookies literally melt in your mouth! However, they must b kept at room temperature. Cuz when I refrigerated it, it became less crumbly. Since it melts in your mouth, be cautioned about the high butter content! The cookies are nice, but I dun think I will spend extra money (due to the highly inflated prices in singapore) and time queuing for it, unless I happen to be in Hong Kong. I really love the cookie tin though; I can use it to keep my accessories.
