Eating in the Dark

If you think that this post is about dining at NOX, a restaurant famed for its dining in darkness, then you are wrong. On 24th April 2015, I decided to especially romantic! Well, I am always a romantic at heart, but on that day itself, I was especially so. Sister was not around as she was in Japan for vacation, so Breadman came over to my place to keep me company. In case u haven't guessed, Tadaa! I decided to put together a candlelight dinner for Breadman because he has been really tired n drained out from work lately and as the understanding gf, I hope to lighten his spirits by doing sth different. So after work on that very Friday, I excitedly went to shop for ingredients for my pasta. However, as I already soaked my vegetables during that morning, I had to use them up. Thus, my pasta was kinda oriental as a result! Mind u, this candlelight dinner was so spontaneous that I only thought about it on that Friday afternoon in office. This was my internal monologue: oh dear, can I just whip up a chinese dinner of tofu, potatoes n veg that I had left to soak? Hmm, but then a candlelight dinner will b strange with a Chinese meal leh. But then I dun want to waste my presoaked veg. What to do? Hmm ok la just cook oriental pasta! That's y in the photo u will see veg, shitake mushrooms n sliced hotdogs added to my carbonara pasta. It almost looks like a dish of Chinese noodles! Haha. After cooking, I happily cleared e table, set the placemats n then slowly arranged e utensils. Did everything meticulously. I guess watching the TV does help as I was trying to mimic the romantic TV scenes. On top of that, I put on soothing piano music as I know Breadman has a thing for music and symphony. I m not musically inclined, but I like to listen to symphony too. So all was done in an hour! Ding Dong, the door bell rang. And off I went to receive Breadman zealously with my open arms. It doesn't take much effort to keep the romance alive even though this year marks the 4th year of our time togetherness. My money n time was well spent as he clearly enjoyed it and we both laughed it off when he exclaimed that we are eating too noisily with the slurping n we r almost getting intoxicated by the fumes from e candles. What's more is I ended the night with a sweet note by feeding him nutella cake that I purchased from a shop near my office. Really thoughtful right? Great ambience, great food n great companionship. What more can he asked for. Haha.  In case u are wondering, here's how much I spent: $2 pasta from daiso, $4.50 pasta sauce n carrots, $2 tea light candles, $1 vegetables, shitake mushrooms n hotdogs were given to us by others so free of charge! So a total spending of $9.50 for 2 pax in exchange for an unforgettable night! Totally worth it! Try it next time if u haven't!

8dayseat Food Trail

These are pictures taken during the food trail organized by 8dayseat on 1 Nov 2014 at Chijmes! Apologize of the late update! Some restaurants that we covered include Paprika and Cumin, Shirokiya, Harry's, Here and there ( currently closed till further notice ). The truffle fries seen below are from Here and There, which I loved! Sad to learn that  the place is closed indefinitely.
Collagen pot from Shirokiya.
Paprika and Cumin. Didnt quite like the food in here.
Chicken skewers from Harry's. Harry's has been around for quite some time but surprisingly the food still's good.

That's all! Hope you enjoy the photos. Apologies for the low resolution pics as my camera is giving in soon.

Keep Me Warm Please

Oh dear! I tried testing out the 100% cashmere sweater yesterday by wearing it to sleep as it was slightly chilly last night. Guess what? This morning I woke up, touched my arm n it was chilling cold. Hmm. But cashmere is supposedly better than wool in terms of trapping heat n this sweater is more than $100. Why then do I still feel cold? Well, for someone who uses heat pads for Singapore's garden by the bays, this result does not surprise me at all. All along I can't tolerate cold temperatures. Since young I haf been sneezing away in the all-year summer Singapore. Feeling more apprehensive about the trip. Sigh. Give me tropical countries please!

Counting Down

10 more days to my Perth trip. I guess I m more or less quite prepared. Socks? Checked. Thermals? Checked. Woolen turtlenecks? Checked. Boots? Checked. Gloves? Checked. Pullover? Checked. Hat? Checked. Does it sound like I m going to a minus degree Celsius country? Haha.. You are wrong! The range is 13 to 17 degrees. But I m well prepared just in case temperature dips n I know my body can't take it. So better to b kiasu than to fall sick again. I kind of love the coat from uniqlo! It's like mini mini trench coat style. I like the 2 rows of buttons. It looks really smart. Hopefully this trip will be an enjoyable and fruitful one.
