8dayseat: The Great Gourmet Trail
Went for my first ever food trail some time back with cousin and finally here are the pics!
Thanks to 8dayseat, I won myself a pair of food trail tix and both cousin and I had a great feasting session out there! Mind you, the food we were presented with was like tonnes and tonnes! Can 2 people finish a pizza? Yes, that's the kind of portion size we got on that day. Dun get too hungry while viewing this post!
This event took place on July 12, from 3pm to 6pm. But the food we ate was like too much to be consumed within that duration.
This is my first ever media event so of course I am so so excited! Heehee.
Cousin and myself, My hair has grown loads more now as compared to when this pic was taken, I have also stopped wearing caps to work. Eh but my head still feels cold easily so sometimes I will still put a scarf to cover up. Haha. My nick name at work: Fatimah
We belonged to Group C and we sat next to fellow foodies.
Host of the day: DJ from Class 95fm Yasminne Cheng
Each one of us was given a gourmet card to fill in, as we had to answer questions along the way. Once completed, we will each get a goodie bag!
First stop: Sufood.
Appetizer.
Pita pockets.
Star pizza! My favourite
That's what foodies do, snap first, eat later.
The famed panna cotta.
Next stop: Soup Spoon
The guys. They have a huge appetite I must say!
The Handburger
Curry noodles from Soup Broth Asia
Burger: I am so flattered to have my photo being taken by 2 beautiful ladies.
St Marc's Cafe. This was too too sweet.
Green Tea Latte. Not nice.
Last stop. I think this was Marche. Cant remember. Hmm
4 of us were given 2 pizzas. The challenging part: finish it in 10 mins. Thinking back, this scares me!
Chicken roll. This was nice but I was too full. As expected, there were lots of food wastage because we didnt expect the portion size to be so huge! It should just be tasting portions too :( I seriously hate to waste food. 1/2 of the pizza was uneaten.
After the trail, we went back to our seats while we had a showcase of the nespresso machine.
Brad Lau and Leslie. Bloggers of ladyironchef and ieatishootipost respectively.
Overall, the food was good but I hope the organizing committee can cut down on the portion size. No one likes wasting food I think? We went to 4 restaurants, presented with 3-4 dishes in each one, ate a total of 12-16 dishes in 3 hours. Imagine the food we wasted! Plus I dun think anyone can eat 3 or 4 dishes from one restaurant in 10 mins. No easy feat. Toll on tummy and digestive system. Even though it's quite scary to think back about this, I still want to go on a food trail in the future, with a longer time frame and less food to eat of course !

Night Festival 2014
This year, I finally get a chance to attend the Night Festival! This is because, this year it extends till the month of August according to the lunar calendar. Count myself really lucky because this festival usually falls during the 7th month and I am forbidden to go. Xy and Yn plus breadman decided to go for this event on the 29 August, a Saturday night, which was also the second last day of the event. Anyway, it wasnt that impressive as I expected and I actually feel that Ilights which I attended earlier on was way better and more interactive. I shall write about Ilights later on. Pardon for the backdated posts! Been too busy these days, juggling with 2 jobs concurrently (one is just part time la) and managing my online store. I never expected myself to be able to multitask, but somehow or rather, when you are faced with that situation, you will be able to manage it somehow. Here are the pics taken during the festival. Camera's bad when capturing at night. Need sponsorship for a new camera! Any kind souls willing to sponsor or contribute to my camera fund? Haha.
Night lights: Landscape by Landscape by Agathe De Bailliencourtcourt (France)
This installation was at greenery near the National Museum, with light being casted on them. There were also glow-in-the-dark pebbles for the public to have fun with. Pick up a pebble, bring it under the light, then observe as it glows slowly.
Night lights: Divine Trees by Clement Briend (France)
These surreal light projections are a study of the divine and the spiritual in the world, made visible by projection onto objects of nature. It is interesting to note how the texture of the trees make this piece wholly realistic. Does it look creepy to you? It sure does to me. Silly sister asked "wa, how they cut the trees into like that huh?" Another sister and myself blurted out laughing. "You mean you haf no idea this is just light being projected on the tree?" Haha.
Acrobatic performance. This was pretty nice because the performers were graceful while sliding down the thin long cloth. This isnt easy and requires coordination between the two performers as they both had to slide down and perform stunts at the same time.
I didnt think there were any safety precautions done. No safety harness. Their lives were solely dependent on that thin long cloth.
Night lights: Dresses of Memory by Taegon Kim (France/Korea)
On display in the Armenian Church, where countless couples have had their lives united in blissful matrimony, these dresses are a physical manifestation of their beautiful memories. Kim's work celebrates the romance of being in love and having a lover's silhouette imprinted on the webs of one's memory.
I really really love this display! Doesnt it remind you of a victorian queen's wedding? These 40m long optic fibres were intricately woven to form dresses, with different lights shone under the display. I love this piece because it's a simple concept, yet cleverly delivered. This definitely requires a pair of meticulous hands to complete.
Night lights: Alsos* by Scenocosme (France)
This installation was interactive and it requires visitors to use flashlights/lights from their phones. Point your flashlight at the fluorescent flowers on the tree branches to make them play a melody that evolves according to the intensity of light cast on them. We didnt quite like this installation though as the flower didnt lit up as much as we expected and the melody was already playing all along, thus we didnt associate light intensity with the playing of the sounds at all.
Sisters!
Night lights: Cyanea by Cumulus (France)
This piece was inspired by the Cyanea capillata, one of the largest jellyfish in the world. The lights change periodically, while we observed this magnificent piece from afar.
Night lights: Spirits of Nature by Wecomeinpeace (France)
In this piece, the Singapore Art Museum is cleverly transformed into a canvas showcasing the beauty of nature. On this giant canvas, natural elements come alive with spirits of their own; winds rumble and blow, fires are sparked and nature blooms.
Here's a video I have taken for this display. Video's bad because it was taken across the street. Thus you will see much traffic in this short clip. Hee
Alright that's all, hope next year's Night Fest would be better!
