The 999th Day

Happy 1002th day together, Breadman! Oops cant seem to get enough of our celebration! As promised, I shall walk you through the series of events we experienced on our special day. Anyway, this is my first ever blog post I have worked on ever since I moved to the new house! Too many backdated stuff.. I shall be more diligent and will keep up with the posts.

So, Breadman and I spent our 999th day together! Time really flies... We have both aged. So 2 weeks back, Breadman asked me to take leave on this day. I was puzzled, why must it be this very day? I dun have leave leh (havent received confirmation yet). Dun wanna take no-pay leave. Lucky for me, I managed to get a 1.5hr time off because I worked overtime for an event previously. In my company, once you work overtime, you will get time off, which means you can end work earlier. Usually this happens when we have events. Oh yes, Nurses Day is coming up soon! It's the next biggest event after Family Day. So after I took time off, it means I essentially can leave office at 4pm sharp. We arranged to meet each other in the mrt cabin and travelled to harbourfront.  I knew we were going to sit in a cable car, but I still have no clue about the special occasion. I tried to guess, but to no avail : not anniversary, not my birthday, not his birthday, not vday, not chinese vday,  what can it be? *puzzled

Anyway, so it turned out that we would be dining in the cable car! I wasnt entirely surprised because he did tell me that we are going to sit in a cable car, and we will definitely be having dinner. So, I managed to link it together somehow. Hehe. But, I still didnt know what occasion it was.

Okay, onboard the cable car towards Mount Faber!
This was Breadman's first time in a cable car. Look at this scaredy cat's expression. Classic!
It was my first time sitting in Singapore's cable car, but not my first time sitting in a cable car. My first time was in HK's glass bottom cable car. Compared to that this is nothing la. Anyway, so we had a discussion. So does the cable move, or the car moves? His answer was the cable, mine was the car. I somehow feels that it works like flying fox! Haha.Check out the answer and get back to me, will you?

After 5 mins, we reached Mount Faber. Then from Mount Faber, we will be sitting in the cable car for 1.5 hours to and fro sentosa, while we slowly savour the 4 course meal.

Some touristy shots while waiting for our cabin to be ready. It starts at 6pm and we were earlier. We reached by 545 pm.
                                       Cant see the face clearly.
There there, it looks so much better as a stand-alone.

                                           Mount Faber
Ok it's 6 pm now! Time to board!  Before boarding, we were served with welcome drinks which include mocktail and sparkling wine. (You get to choose). As usual, we chose different stuff, mine the cocktail and his the champagne. The cocktail tastes like fruit punch. Oh yes, Breadman was in the green long sleeve shirt I got for him from Vintagefb. Look at it closely and u will see prints of tiny anchors, super cute right! Why this shirt? Cuz it's green la. Plus he has no green top, plus the material is thick.

Our starters/appetizer was Apple Smoked Magret of Duck with Garden Greens, Hawthorn Chutney. For the soup, we have Cream of Wild Mushroom with Scallop Ravioli, Truffle Emulsion. This is my first time eating smoked duck and I was indeed apprehensive at first. Luckily, it tasted pretty good! No strong ducky smell. Plus, I really love the Hawthorn Chutney. Initially, I thot it was cranberry or prune sauce.

The mushroom soup was a little oily though and I didnt quite like the taste of the ravioli. It tasted similar to a dumpling stuffed with scallop, albeit the skin was too thick. So i still had no clue what occasion were we celebrating. Breadman went: You still have no idea why it must be this day? I shook my head... Then the moment of truth.. He beamed and showed me his phone, with the Couple app on its screen. There it was recorded: 999 days together. Haha.. This made me laugh. So cute. He is rarely this romantic. Even I myself dun use the app anymore and I dun keep track of days we have been together so this really caught me by surprise. A good surprise!

We quickly polished up the food because we had no idea how long it is to our next stop in which they will serve the second course. Thus, it was slightly stressful at first. I turned back my head many times to look at the window to see when's the next stop.
Complimentary flowers! Initially, Breadman said to me: I think we are in the wrong cabin, cuz I didnt request for flowers! I already started taking photos with this bouquet when he said that. haha.. Luckily, we werent in the wrong one. It was included in the package I guess.
This floral cabin was beautifully decorated with fake flowers, Breadman expected them to be real! Breadman especially chose this floral theme one as he knew I m in love with flowers. Yep, gardens by the bay, garden theme wedding.. haha, i am so predictable. Thanks so much, love.

Face damn fat in this one :( but I love the flowers!
This one is much more better
Some views through the cable car....

 Another selfie!
Second stop reached. Time for the main course! For mains, we have Grilled Norwegian King Salmon, with Tri-Bean Stew and Breaded Oyster Basil Oil. Breadman told me that we can choose from beef or salmon, but since I abstain from beef, salmon it is.
Cod fish is my favourite followed by salmon, so I really love this one :) I should share with you pics of the salmon rice I cooked at home a while back. Haha.  This is visually appetizing too as it is beautifully adorned with this violet flower.
Yuzu sorbet was served with our main course. This is really refreshing! But slightly too sweet... I can even taste the yuzu bits! I find it a bit queer to be served this with the main course though. isnt this supposed to be a dessert? *scratches head

More photos before our final stop!

Less glare from the sun as the sun sets...

Our last course was dessert:  Black Cherry Yoghurt Mousse with Morello Cherry Compote
When we tucked into this dish, the mousse has melted.. haha too much talking done! A brownie textured cake was concealed under the black cherry yoghurt mousse. This was average, probably because we didnt eat it when it was still cold. haha. Oh yes, did I mention that the crew takes photo of us at each stop? so a total of 3 photos for us to choose from. You can purchase these photos as 1 for 25 bucks each and 3 for 50 bucks with soft copy included. Needless to say, we got the expensive one. Haha
Lastly, coffee and a cookie to end the meal. I like the taste of the coffee. It's nicely blended, no sourish taste. You know there's some coffee which leaves a sour aftertaste on your tongue, this is nothing like that.
I managed to capture this! Yay! My camera's still good right? Even though it has been with me for 4 years now...  Have been contemplating to get a better one, but not those bulky DSLR. I m no professional photographer. Any recommendations? I just want a small and handy camera, no complicated lenses.

How can we forget about poloraid shots on this special day?

I love this pic a lot! Not sure what he was staring at... but it seems to speak a lot....

Oh yes, did I mention that there was another couple who went for skydining on the same day and time as us? However they were 2 males... I have nothing against homosexuals, was just surprised to see them outwardly expressing their love for each other. It is a good thing you know? Being open and coming out of the closet instead of concealing and hiding from everyone else.

Heart shape cutout! But the left corner is cut off. Hmmm..  I am super in love with this pose. Haha. No idea why. It's the blissful look.
After we got down from the cable car, we decided to get pair of couple bells from the souvenir shop and hang it on the garden just next to the restaurant. I didnt know Singapore has this thing though... usually other countries have this love locks thingy. Whereby you sealed your love, made a pact and throw away the key to the lock. This is said to ensure everlasting love. Hmm... hope it works!

Initially we chose one of each colour, but Breadman has difficulty writing his wishes using the silver marker, thus we swopped for gold bells instead.
Guess which is mine? Haha, It's kinda obvious that mine's the left one cuz of my cheapo mindset. Since you have that amount of surface area for you to pen down yr wishes,  might as well fill up all the space right! One can never have enough wishes, can he? Men are greedy loh, I am one of them.
Board with instructions to tell you what to do.

Breadman tying the bells together. Ours is right at the bottom, probably u can hunt for them when you visit this place next time?

                                   Taken with flash.
Taken without flash and with night mode.  Looks more arty farty.
Alright that sums up the amount of fun we had during that Wednesday night! Oh yes, before I forget, I would like to make a special mention about the crew, whom have made this night a fabulous one, by being polite, efficient and sensitive. They were really service oriented and I feel really glad with the attention they gave to us. All in all, everything went on smoothly and it was indeed a memorable night.

You must be curious, so how much did we spend? Listen up! For the floral cabin sky dining, it is $488++, for the couple bells, it is $4.90 a pair and you can get them from the souvenir shop at the cable car boarding area. Though the amount is indeed exorbitant, I think the money's well spent because it's a memory that we can always talk about and reminisce on. It brought about smiles on my face for so many days already! Till today, I am still thinking about this day! So guys, you can probably consider this option if you want to pop the question or celebrate any special event with your loved ones!

Thanks again for the lovely surprise, my dearest Vincent.

Happy 999th Day!

Thanks Breadman for e lovely surprise on this special day! I shall be frank with u, I didn't remember this day! Oops* I only rmb monthsaries, anniversaries n birthdays! Haha.. This day wasn't encoded at all. Nonetheless, I enjoyed every moment spent with u on this day, having our first sky dining at an exorbitant price and also tying of couple bells at e garden. Many firsts to come for e both of us. 999 days is no easy feat indeed! There were many times that both of us feel like strangling each day *not literally of course! But we still manage to overcome all these barriers. Thanks again for e marvellous surprise. Shall share pics in e next entry!

Get well soon

At the doc now, apparently because my finger has been unable to bend for 3 weeks. It's a case of swollen joint n I haf affected e nerves. Dun ask me how I got it, because I haf no idea. Probably cuz I lifted heavy stuff? Anyway, doc says this usually happens in old people. Well, I m only 25 this year, but my body is 52 years old. Oh yes, my lips are peeling again. Doc says it's herpes virus caused by weak immune system. But I haf been taking blueberries n those food filled with vitamins n minerals, why still no use? Moody day :( let's hope that my finger will get well n there is no need for an injection into my finger. Ouch. Sounds super painful :(

Rest in peace

It has been two days since Mr Teo passed on... Still see his face popping up in my thoughts these few days. Especially heartbreaking cuz I was in e same lift as him the night before he passed on that next morning. We even had a conversation.... I asked him if he was applying medicated oil on his foot again n he said yes, he saw his leg improving. He wanted to walk and leave this place to go home. Thus it was shocking for me when I learned of his demise. It was so sudden, no tell tale signs. Just gone, that very morning. I'll remember him because he remembered my name... He was one of e few who called out my name when I approach the residents. It just seems kind of unfair to rob his life away so suddenly. We didn't even bid good bye. The least I could do was to offer my prayers when I went to e bed holding room, where his body laid. I was scared, to be frank. It was my first time being so close to a body.  It was like entering a mortuary. Except that it wasnt freezing cold. But u see a body in front of u, draped in white cloth. After I settled myself, I stopped being afraid n I closed my eyes and prayed for him. I wish all the best for him, to be rid of pain n to be a better person in his next life. Yes, I do believe in reincarnation.

The same goes to Mr Leong, who passed away e day before Mr teo. He died while in hospice. For this case it was memorable too because I see him deteriorate from a healthy individual, to one with terminal illness. The effects of end stage cancer was drastic. He lost so much weight n was really frail. While he was still at ktph, my team n I visited him , got him a drink he wanted n we bid goodbye. But I didn't expect that to be e last of him that we will see. Yep.. Life's unpredictable so please treasure your love ones around u. This job is really emotionally draining, but it's meaningful too. I shall hang in there.
