Justice be Done

I am saddened by news of the demise of the 23 year old university student who succumbed to her injuries after being gang raped on board a bus, a case that caused outrage in New Delhi and now worldwide. She had a bright future... Those cruel beasts ought to be sentenced to life imprisonment, if not, just hang them.
Why such violence against Indian women? What is wrong with these men. Dun they have families with females in them? Their moms, their daughters, their siblings... etc. What was going through their minds when they committed the assault. I am so appalled by the widespread of rape cases in India. The worst thing is, if you are raped, you either just live with it, marry the rapist. There is no way to getting justice. Dun even think about getting the fellow jailed. or filing a police report. Just drop the case, as they always say. This is so disgusting. Kill all the men! Frustration. Females are not the weaker sex and they arent sex objects. Note to Indian government: do something about this. Female rights. Females need not change their lifestyle because of males. Need not give up wearing dresses because of them. Please let females feel treasured and not always feel like they are being watched, constantly on the look out for potential rapists. Please... the world is crying for the rape victims. They need to be heard. This case strikes me badly because I have grown up being surrounded by many females.....and it scares me to think of what will happen to us if this takes place in our country. Plus, the victim is my age, it makes me too sad. :(:(:(

Rest in peace, you shall find eternal peace in the other world.

Post Waxing Feelings

One word sums up all my feelings: Smooth!
That's the only reason why I am such an advocate of brazilian waxing. I try to persuade my lady friends, even my sisters to head down to Pink Parlour for a pampering session. Even if you are a sucker for pain, I am sure you secretly desire "deforesting" your privates someday. Having been introduced to the Marina Square outlet by my cousin years ago because they had a one-for-one promotion for new customers, I have been a regular at the beauty salon. But no, I dun go there monthly, even as advised by my waxing therapist. I go there bimonthly or even tri-monthly. Only to be chided for being lazy. Haha. It has nothing to do with laziness. It has to do with feelings of trepidation each time when my waxing date draws near. Okay I shall be good and adhere to the timeline.

Being a regular for the past 3 years, I decide to list down some FAQs for those newbies with burning questions.

Q. Why Pink Parlour?
A. My cousin introduced it to me years back. It has won multiple awards! Awards won included: Best Waxing Parlour 2011 by Singapore Womens' Weekly, Singapore Tatler Best of Singapore Grooming Waxing (2010, 2011). Best Bikini Wax 2009 by Singapore Women's Weekly. Since it has won many accolades and awards for consecutive years, it must have something worth raving about!

Q. Is brazilian waxing really painless?
A. No way! Not trying to scare you off... but it has a level of pain. Moderate level for me. But if you cant take pain, ask for the numbing solution to soothe your privates (additional top up of 5 bucks I think).

Q. What if I find the waxing process really painful?
A. The therapist can hand you a soft toy to hug. There was once when my girly therapist gave me a kitty to hug before giggling. Haha. She tortured me badly with her tweezers though. Ouch. Evil giggling!

Q. What kind of wax is used during waxing?
A. Hot hard wax that hardens upon contact with the skin. As hot wax is used, your pores are enlarged and there is less pain.

Q. What if the wax is too hot?
A. Fret not, if you find it too hot, tell your therapist, they will adjust the temperature of the waxing pot.

Q. How are the hygiene standards at Pink Parlour?
A. Excellent. Therapists wear gloves, towels are replaced after each user. The most important thing of all, there is no double dipping!

Q. What is double dipping?
A. This means to dip the same spatula into the pot to smear the wax. At Pink Parlour, new spatulas are used each time the wax is smeared. Pink Parlour was the first in Singapore to introduce the no “double-dipping” of spatulas guideline since early 2006.You can use many spatulas at one go. For me, usually 5 to 6 spatulas are used cuz I am a hairy monster. Haha.

Q. Do I need to bathe before going waxing?
A. There is a shower room in the parlour for you to cleanse your privates. Towels are provided.

Q. How is a waxing session like?
A. First you take off your shoes, change into Pink Parlour slippers, step into shower room, go naked from waist down and wrapped yourself with a towel. Proceed to the waxing room, lie down on bed. Therapist then removes the towel and applies baby powder to your privates. Then waxing starts. Sometimes tweezers are used to remove stubborn hair and that is what I dread most! When the front is done, turn to your back so that waxing can be done to your butt, or anus area, not sure what is the correct term. After all is done, therapist applies a soothing lotion over your privates again. And voila, you are all cleaned up!

Q. Can I ask for the same waxing therapist each time?
A. Yes, but it's advised that you make an advanced booking so that you know your therapist is available.

Q. What do I need to avoid immediately after brazilian waxing?
A. As your pores are open, avoid steam bath, sauna and sex because of risk of an infection. In short, hands off the area.

Q. Is brazilian waxing expensive?
A. Yes, sadly. Good stuff are usually ex. Approx 55 bucks for a single session. Take a package if you can afford it. I took mine and it costs 44 per session. Cant remember how many sessions in a package, renewed mine last year.

Q. Is there an expiry date for my package?
A. Yes. From 1 Jan 2013, all packages expire within 2 years from the date of purchase. I bought mine last year so not applicable to me.

Q. How often should I wax?
A. Approximately between 1 to 1.5 months.

Q. Is there brazilian waxing for males?
A. Yes, it's called a boyzilian (a dumb name cuz ours not called girlzilian leh).

Q. How does a boyzilian work?
A.  Standard procedures are the same as the female equivalent. Shower, strip. BUT, males gotta submit their NRIC for security purposes. I guess because female therapist are the ones doing the waxing, so if there's any hanky panky going on, this comes in handy. Males are supposed to hold up their own penises as the therapists will not touch them. Only the spatula comes into contact with the skin. So dun yell molest!

Q. Do I need to be erected for a boyzilian?
A. No strict rule on this. But easier if it is standing up because the skin is taut.

Q. Oops, what if I am turned on during a boyzilian and there is premature ejaculation?
A. Not to worry. Therapist hands you a tissue to clean up. There is nothing sexual unless you enjoy pain.

Q. How much does a boyzilian cost?
A. Approximately $75.

Q. How do I make an appointment with Pink Parlour?
A. You can call them, go to their webpage and fill up the appointment form, add them on whatsapp sms them, via msn, iphone app.

There, all your queries answered :)

Xmas Wish List

Merry Xmas everyone! Even though I am not exactly in the festive mood since I haf fallen sick, Christmas is still a joyous occasion. I used to love this festival before I fell sick. I love prezzies! Haha.. The xmas lighting.. santa claus, santarinas and even the reindeers! Season of giving. This is my first year without celebrations, no gift exchange. However, the yearly affair still goes on at my house. But we did away with gift exchange this year. It's just a day of getting together with the family members, a day of cozying up. This year we are having a potluck session. Elder sis will be preparing almond jelly as dessert and she's bring a newly bought dvd over. Is it just me, or has she become a nicer person every since she got married? Haha... a good change indeed. Marriage does wonders. She has converted from a tyrant to a submissive wife! Frankly speaking, a total change!

Dear Santa Claus, I think I have been good this year and I only have one wish. Just make me well before the end of year 2012. I dun need anything else except for my precious health to be back. I still want to work, to repay my debts to my dad, to do all the fun things, get married. Speaking of marriage, I feel like getting married again! Like again! I believed I haf said that countless of times. Oh breadman, look at what you have done to me? I am usually more sober, more logical. First time in this lovesick state. Did you cast a spell on me? Haha... I guess I am the only one who wishes to be tied down that early. Eh, but cant be helped right? If you are crazily in love, you cant think straight. You just want to spend all your time with your partner. Doing nothing, staring, ogling. Just the mere presence is enough. My frens always ask me this classic question: How do you know he's THE ONE? My reply: You can never be sure what happens in the future. But right now he is THE ONE. So seize the moment. This answer always silences them. Haha. I am so happy right now, despite still feeling lousy physically. Thanks a lot for everything, my strange one. I am proclaiming my love for you, like again! Hahaha.

Apocalypse 2012, are you prepared for it?

If there is really an apocalypse, I guess preparation does not help at all. My sister says she wanna stock up on water. Haha... she's going to lug 1.5 litre bottles from NTUC on thursday. Chuckles! Like me, we both believe in it...50-50 chance I guess. As outrageous as it sounds, I kind of believe in it because of these widespread rumors and extensive media coverage. Last year we also had "doomsday", but it was only reported once in the news. And now, I have heard of it three times in the news so far. So maybe it is really coming!

The bad thing is, this has instilled fear in many, especially the Chinese. A Chinese woman apparently mortgage her house and gave the money to her children, asking them to lavishly enjoy their last few weeks. Another man spent his money to build a noah's ark. Yet another man built high tech pods that floats on water. Just few days back, a stabbing case occurred in China when a man went around on a stabbing spree, injuring young school children. He said he was too overwhelmed by this "doomsday" saying and he just went nuts. Lots of people are stocking up on candles and torches, apparently believing earth will be plagued with 3 days of darkness, with no electricity. As all these rumors went viral, it is kind of interesting to find out who is the one who started with it. No one knows what this "doomsday" entails until it comes.

If you ask me,  my idea of an apocalypse is that suddenly everything will be pitch black and the ground will shatter into pieces. It wont last forever. Perhaps a few hours or so, just like an earthquake. And those who survive will survive. I do not think the human race will be wiped out totally. There will bound to be some lucky ones. Then they will live on to tell the tale to their offspring. Yes, procreation still takes place and everything starts afresh again. Maybe I watched too many movies... hahaha. But I  have one important burning question. Which timing do we follow? Singapore's time? Or United States timing.. And is it the kind where the clock-strikes 12 on 20th? Or just during the wee hours of 20th.. I guess no one really knows till Friday!

I am so excited about this! Not scared, just purely excited! So what are my plans on this day? We are going to have some kind of family bonding in the afternoon with majority of the family members (most are clearing leave coincidentally). Intend to watch jacky chan's film together with dad as he loves the actor very much. Then a nice lunch and stroll outdoors. Exercise with my sis later in the evening. Meet up breadman at night for another movie and cuddle till the wee hours. I wanna watch many movies before apocalypse!

My last wish would be to splurge on a staycation at a boutique hotel with my beloved breadman. Been talking about it for ages. Singapore's hotels have received really good ratings, so I am really keen to try it out. Must have amenities: spa and massage facilities, manicure and pedicure services, 42 inch plasma tv, sound proof doors, jacuzzi in bathroom. In short, I wanna be treated like a queen just before perishing, and I am so gonna experience the sensual delights that mankind speaks of! So what's your last wish?

We are indeed Cousins

After blogging the latest post, I went to read my cousin's blog and you know what? She blogged the exact same thing as me! Only on different days. Well, sometimes my cousin can be smart too, at least she knows there are only 12 months. Eh, but I am usually smart, but just that I was too preoccupied with the nice 121212 numbers, such that I wanted to continue the trend...Hahhahah... Burst out laughing like mad. At least this brought some joy to me.. we both thought our conversation was something interesting that deserved to be mentioned in a post. Okay, it's confirmed, WE ARE COUSINS!

Rainbow Roses Anyone?

When I saw this Groupon deal selling rainbow roses, I must say I was blown away!

Even though this rose isnt au naturel and the colours are sprayed on, I am still pretty much captivated by it. However, it's not cheap! The 20 bucks deal applies to 6 stalks of red roses. For a stalk of rainbow rose with 11 stalks of red roses, it's charged at a hefty price of 88 bucks! Eh, but I just want that stalk of rainbow rose , with baby breath surrounding it, can it be cheaper?

I have a thing for flowers, dun ask me why. According to my mother, it's pricey and useless and takes up space, but I still love it. Whenever I bring back flowers, she will start groaning. Haha.. mothers are so typical. And who says it's useless? I keep my flowers as potpourri and only throw them away when they disintegrate. This happened to my first bouquet of roses that I received on a valentines' day. It was a nice bouquet and it was a pity to throw them away. My favourite bouquet is a bouquet of 3 blue roses. It wasnt the normal blue, it was cobalt blue! I tried to find a google image of its equivalent, but i couldnt find it. That shade of blue is pretty rare, which explains why it was love at first sight with the flowers. Despite it being sprayed on, the flowers werent readily available in Singapore. They were shipped from overseas and nicely sprayed on such that the blue dye was evenly distributed, not that artificial looking as the other bouquets of blue roses I have received. If I havent forgotten, the roses were purchased from a florist in Ang Mo Kio, which was impressionable because I remembered the florist being all friendly and chatty.

Maybe I should reward myself with a Rainbow Rose someday! This time I'll make sure the flowers are kept in prime condition and wont disintegrate that quickly, which makes the money more well spent. Hahaha.... If only my mother grows roses... but the weather doesnt permit. Well...that's why I buy roses!

Here's a joke: 12/12/12 just passed and I told my cousin that I want to marry on such auspicious dates such as 13/13/13 and 14/14/14. Then she said this: you think there are 13 months? This really made me laugh out loud literally... luckily I didnt continue with 15/15/15. So there are no more auspicious dates?
Oh dang :( Maybe 1 mar 2014. (1314). The last one!

Changes

Changes are inevitable. Maybe it's time for me to embrace them. Too bad it isnt easy for someone who is so not receptive to changes... I love stability too much. Tell me why i am feeling this way please... A strange feeling. Not angry, happy, disappointed... Probably more of a mixture of sadness and disbelief... Who knows that a small little act can lead to an avalanche of feelings? Haha...men are complex creatures, or maybe i am.

12/12/12

121212. I do, I do, I do! May all couples who are married on this special day be blessed with a blissful marriage! It's such an auspicious date albeit it falls on a Wednesday. It's such a good date to remember, in the future I want to choose one of these dates too! It's a lucky day today, enjoy the rest of this lucky day while you can! We are facing doomsday soon! Screams... Ahhh...get ready your torches everybody. Huddle with your loved ones on 21st!

Breadman's 25th

Being the best girl friend on earth that all men could possibly ask for (haha so thickskinned!), I decided to pamper breadman by whipping up a self-cooked meal and preparing my very first birthday cake for him. As I suck at baking, I decided to take the easy way out by making a non-bake one. Tiramisu, it shall be! (As it is my favourite cake as well...). So I happily went to cold storage to grab the ingredients. Turns out that it isnt cheap! 27 bucks in total! My mom says it would be cheaper if I bought the cake from a bakery instead. But that's different... it isnt the same without effort put in.

In order to ensure that my cake is edible, I decided to test it out first. That's why I always bake twice. I need to ensure that it is in a presentable state. My only complaint: It's so hard to mix the eggs till they are white in colour by hand! I need an electric mixer please... The first round of tiramisu.

It looks so cute, with the sponge fingers at the side. The other complaint was that the sponge fingers were coated with sugar, not the plain ones that I needed. That's why I had to reduce the amount of sugar from 100 g to 70g. And he doesnt exactly have a sweet tooth like me, so I had to be more thoughtful. The cake tastes pretty fine, but the inner layers are so undefined. A whole mashed up look.
Round 2 of cake making... The actual cake! Doesnt the cake look nice with the gold ribbon around it?

Put two layers of sponge fingers in this instead of the original three layers, thus I had excess batter. Put them into these small cups instead! The benefits of making them in cups are that it's neater, less messy and of a smaller serving. Maybe next time i should consider making them in cups instead.
Besides the cake, there's also a meal that I prepared for breadman. Second time cooking for the family, so it's good that the food are edible. Haha...The eggs got burnt. Fish stew has no stew. My only successful dish would be the potatoes which my dad said are at the correct softness.

Time to sing the birthday song and to cut the cake! A pity that the birthday boy had to start off the singing himself and I followed suit, a bit paiseh for me to sing when there are family members in the house. Eh, next time when we have the privacy, you can hear me sing, as many times as you wish, maybe you can see me dance as well, for your eyes only. Hahahha.

Breadman has a problem with smiling. You need to cue him to smile.

Now you finally see me smile :) Small beady eyes.. suddenly he looks like hamtaro to me. Hahha

Vincent Yeh, Oh yeah! My private joke...

Now you see me smile,  now you dunt!
You are how old? He doesnt look much like 25, more like a teenager playing dress up, which is good, since youthfulness is desirable. Notice that there are no photos of us together... Fret not, here's me with my shortest haircut ever!

I am so in love with my pearly whites... hahha. Oh no, I think I know where the 1.2kg that I have put on goes to... My face!

Happy 25th in advance, breadman... you know there is bound to be more celebrations with me around, bound to be loss of privacy. I know you are gonna go nuts when you see your pics all over this post. Well, as you always say, SMILE :)

Who's in my bed?

Mr bean is my new companion in bed! Chuckles. I have always want to get myself a Mr bean plushie, as well as all its collectibles. I am such a huge fan of this adorable lucky bean.
I have almost tried everything on their menu, from pancakes and biscuits, to soya milk and soya beans. The only exception would be their sandwiches. Try it someday if you havent! I am sure the aroma will entice you.... In my opinion, their pancakes are better than jollibean's, less sweet and more flavorful!

Good beads of sweat

I must be one of the few ones who exercise in my hoodie. As i was freezing just moments earlier, i thought it might keep me warm while i skip. Indeed it does! And a good job to add. It's actually nice to have beads of perspiration trickle down your face n neck n disappear into the jacket. Believe it or not, the only reason why i exercise is because i like to see myself sweat. Narcissism. Haha. I love my sweat smell too. It's a comfortable, familiar smell. This does not imply that i favour sweaty bodies. I only like myself. Haha. Now that my hoodie is totally drenched.... I guess it's time to chuck it into e washing machine. What a waste! I usually wear it twice before i wash it. Wait, i think this is how the term sweatshirts come from. We wear them to exercise and we sweat in them!
