The Girl Who Cries Blood

Wasted 1 hr of my time watching this documentary on okto channel just now. It was a bizarre case of a 13 yr old Indian girl, Twinkle, who cries blood, instead of normal tears. It was pretty shocking and scary to see her face smeared with blood during the tv show and at first I sympathise with her rare medical condition. However, the doctor who treated her concluded that it could be a case of Munchausen's syndrome by proxy. (ha i know what this is! Learnt it from abnormal psych!) It is this syndrome in which the caregiver intentionally induces symptoms into the person under the caregiver's care. So the doctor concluded that, Twinkle's mother, intentionally smeared blood onto Twinkle's face, although both mother and daughter were frustrated and upset when being questioned about the origin of the blood. There were no wounds on Twinkle, yet her head has blood. And no one has actually witnessed it when Twinkle cries blood, except for her mother. Twinkle came to the hospital with blood smeared on her face. Could be just a hoax. The documentary ended with this abrupt ending in which the doctor said they need to observe twinkle for 24 hours to see the actual blood-crying. Yep, i was expecting a part 2 of the documentary for a further explanation. Yet, the show just ended! BOO. So i guess it was all a hoax and they didn even want to show part 2. Perhaps the mom confessed after that. Ha.

Go google this: the girl who cries blood
Be fascinated with how people can actually intentionally inflict pain in their own child just to be in the center of attraction.

Food Poisoning

YEAH! I am proud to declare that I have fully recovered from the horrid episode of food poisoning! No more rushing to toilets, no more bloated stomachs, no more nauseousness! Finally! I have been awaiting for this day for so long, after being tortured by this strain of virus for 4 full days. My appetite shrunk by a lot during this whole period. Couldn even finish a small bowl of porridge. HAHA. Totally rare, perhaps I should take that as a blessing as it can partially reduce my weight. BOO. Not exactly healthy this way as I lost plenty of water during diarrhoea and had to keep on drinking water to replenish the water loss. Drinking lots of water made me feel bloated and horrible. The most amazing thing was, I didn even want to eat any nice food even though they were just right in front of me. Usually I would be tempted by chicken wings, but during this period, the sight of any fried food makes me want to puke and I also cant seem to understand why others seem to enjoy eating them that much. Haha. For a moment, I thought i was anorexic. haha. Just for a teeny weeny little moment. It's funny how a food-lover like me can actually detest chicken wings during this period. It's almost unbelievable. The most irksome and scary part about suffering from food poisoning would be having fevers.

I was real paranoid when I had fever during the first 2 days. During the first day, my fever was 38.3 degrees. And I swear that I could feel a little dizzy. At one hand I was feeling dizzy, on the other, I was really anxious and agitated because I dun want my body temperature to continue rising. Read that one can actually become retarded after prolonged fevers. That explains my fear of having fevers. I would rather have anything except a fever. Went to the 24 hr clinic at chong pang area, thanks to my aunt for driving us all there. The receptionist took my temperature and it registered 38 degrees. Phew! At least not as high as before, I was thinking to myself. HA, but since it exceeded 37.5, i need to wear a mask. So there I was, sitting down on a comfy cushioned bench, donning a mask while other patients steered clear from me. Ha. Admit it, I did feel a little sad at that moment. Yep initially dad sat next to me for like 10 mins? Then he went over to join my cousin and aunt. haha. Although it was only a mere 10 mins, I was kind of touched. cuz i asked him why arent he afraid that i would spread the virus to him, and his reply was that there was nothing to be afraid of. I guess that's what family means to him :)
Thanks so much dad. I really appreciated it. Among all family members, he was the one who offered to go down to the clinic with me, even without my request. I really want to say a big thank you to him. Thanks a million! One thing about dad is although he's a man with few words, his actions say it all :D and that's already sufficient.

Thanks to jessilyn and aunt for accompanying me down to the clinic even though it was really late. Thanks to jessilyn and aitee for buying the cooling pads for me to cool down my temperature. Thanks to kian keong for the nice but bland home-cooked fish porridge. Thanks to yingjia, yiqi, sheryl, jocelyn, neetha and darren for their concern. Thanks to my colleagues-- kelvin, jason and gina for helping me out during work while I was feeling unwell. Thanks to all my sweet family members who tolerated with my bad temper while i was having fever. Thanks to anyone whom I missed out :)

Happy national day everyone! I love singapore!

Watson Membership Card Promotion

Promoted Watsons membership card at the classy place Stamford house for the past 2 days. There was such a huge crowd yesterday and the queue was really long. It was easy to sell the cards as Watsons' brand name has already been established. Hence not much of persuasion needs to be done :) Saves lots of work for us. HAHA. My colleague and I didn even have to approach people that much, they just come to our booth on their own and the influx of customers was really pretty scary. Sometimes u have to do registration for customers non-stop for sometime, until the crowd dies off. Have to thank this company: Fr3b, as everyone who turned up was actually a Fr3b member who queued to get freebies from the company. That was why they happened to pass by our booth, which was located just next to the Fr3b company. Anyway, as I heard from their members, just an annual fee of 28 bucks and u can be entitled to freebies for one whole year! But there's a point system. So after u took the freebies home(mostly facial products), u must do a mini review for the product and post it on the company's webby. So the more reviews u post up, the more points u earn and the more freebies u stand to get! Isnt that wonderful? HAHA. Typical Singaporean. Too bad I was working, otherwise I would have signed up as a member and queue for the freebies as well. I guess u guys can check out the website. It's http://www.fr3b.com.sg YEP. I cant believe that there's really a company that give out freebies that much :D But one think is it is like an early birds special thing again. So those who turned up early would get to pick all those products which are better than the rest, greater in quantity as well! So sometimes being kiasu really makes a difference! HAHA.

Yep, I really enjoyed myself at work for the 2 days. Thanks to my humorous and sleepy colleague weijian. Cant believe that he's from NTU as well! We agreed to meet up in school when school resumes :) Can do some catching up then. haha. He's really a funny guy who wants to know why he always fails at relationships. Cant believe that he asked me for tips on how to go after girls! What a laugh!

Lastly, I pamper myself with this bottle of Salvatore Ferragammo perfume from a store at penisular plaza. Made me feel really elated for the whole day! You should smell the fragrance! HAHA. It's darn cheap! Only cost 38 bucks for 100 ml bottle and it's usual price was 80++ bucks! I guess buying some stuff that you really fancy will lift up your spirits by a whole lot! It works for me :D

ALright, I look forward to work tmr at Hougang mall atrium.

My Troublesome Dad

ARGH! I am at wit's end. Cant deal with my dad at all. Okay, here's what happening. (it still happens now!) He cannot leave the house without being overly concerned about the clothes that were left out to dry in the sun. His mind would always revolve around the clothes, whether are they dry, whether is it going to rain, when must he keep the clothes and blah blah. I understand that he's currently going through andropause (similar to menopause but this only applies to males)and hence there's this role reversal process going on between mom and dad. In short, the female becomes less and less concerned with household stuff and behaves more like a male (with the heck-care attitude), however the male becomes more and more female-like, displaying certain characteristics such as bossiness, quarrelsome and also with the incessant nagging. Dad has become Mom and it's driving us all nuts. Haha. One moment he's nagging about the clothes and the other moment he's frustrated because he cannot find the keys at home. Everyone in the family feel normal with the mess in the house except for my dad. He wakes up so early to do housechores, when everyone are still sleeping, even on weekends! Even my mom laments that on sundays when she's not working and she just wants to get a couple more hours of sleep, the noise from the vacuum cleaner, the clinging and clanging of pots and pans at the basin would wake her up. Even right now when I am blogging, he's already nagging about his keys (cuz I hid them purposely as he didn want to go out with me). Haha. We are all childish, father or daughter. Initially I wanted to bring him out to northpoint to walk around and have lunch since the renovation works are almost done. However he insisted that he only wanted to eat at a coffeeshop downstairs. He has been eating at the same place almost daily. That was why I wanted to bring him elsewhere, at least to the shopping mall, which is only nearby. The biggest problem with dad is that he is too calculative and he scrimps and saves. But what's the point of saving so much money? Dad is no longer that young and I just wish that he can try out some nice food and visit nice places instead of always eating the same old dishes at coffeeshops. We can afford all that and it's only once in a while. That's why I always insist on bringing him out to malls to see the outside world. He shouldn always stay cooped at home or just go downstairs. Okay, I will try to persuade him to go out with me this thursday again, since he would be going to see the doc in the morning. So I would tag along and drag him somewhere! Hope this time around my mission would be accomplished! I would pay for his meals so that he dont haf to worry about money again. And I hope it does not rain! Otherwise he will go nuts again about the clothes. Haha. This entry seems hilarious. I love my family especially my Dad although sometimes he can really be a headache as he behaves like a kid. Haha. Sometimes a big family can be fun

Ha. I had just seen myself on TV! Only appeared for like a duration of 5 seconds on the variety show although both my cousin and I stayed in the restaurant for like 45 minutes! Haha. But since the food was on the house, we did not mind staying longer :D My cousin waited for so many weeks just to have a glimpse of herself on national tv, yet she missed the chance as she didnt watch it from the beginning of the show! HAHA. Dumbo. Our faces appeared right in the beginning of the show when the hosts introduced the restaurant in Iluma. The restaurant is called AJ's piri piri chicken and is located at Iluma, Bugis. They offer food that are healthy and suitable for those who are on diet. Prices are reasonable too, so drop by if you have time! Haha. I seriously sound like a promoter for the restaurant :D

Hope to see the Just for Laugh Gags Spore edition for the unforgettable birthday celebration! Once again, it's my cousin and I!! Haha, we were worried sick when our "patient" ran away! Catch the episode next year when the series start! I realise that strange but interesting things do happen when I am out with my cousin. Haha. I wonder if that's good!

A shocking murder took place in NTU today. Stabbing incident occurred between a professor and a year 4 engineering student. It was the topic over lunch today. Me and my girls only knew abt the incident frm Shujing after she heard it from some pple I guess. The whole incident took place even before we stepped into the school.. whoa! Me and the girls were still riding on the bus. Hmmm. The student was a foreigner, an Indon chinese and he got into a dispute with the professor at 10 plus this morning, before stabbing him with a kitchen knife. After that, he committed suicide by jumping off the building. The EEE building. It's near where our classes are. Whoa... Whoa whoa. I cant believe that such an incident will actually take place in the peaceful NTU. I bet those that witnessed the murder would haf to receive counselling. Still curious to know what was the reason for the stabbing. It was rumored that it was due to the FYP (final year project) and thesis. But how can anyone just kill because of a report? Life does not just revolve around academic performance. Hmmm.
Anyway, it was reported in the tabloid newspaper that bleeding occurred in the deceased's private part as well. That was real scary. It was a bloody scene.

Lots of weird things happened today after that. It was pretty sunny when we were rehearsing our slides for hw111, however the skies suddenly turned gloomy after that. Jocelyn and I witnessed the transition of the weather from sunny to gloomy and to rainy! Haha. Then as we were waiting for the Mrt at jurong east, it was flashed on the screen that the waiting time for the next train was 6 mins. However, right after we seen that, the waiting time was changed to only 1 min! What a weird weird day! I thot perhaps I didnt see the timing correctly, but it couldnt be, cuz jocelyn saw it too... >.< We had a good laugh after that when we stepped into the empty train. Another strange thing was that the train actually came in the opposite direction. Not the usual way. Queer! The funniest thing was, the seats appeared so glossy! Hhahaha. They looked as if someone had just polished the seats! Yep... so we were pretty amazed at the strange things that happened today. INTERESTING. Hmmm.

Alright back to reality. There's a quiz tmr and there are 8 horrid chapters! omg. And i still havent familiarise myself with my speech for presentation tmr. MOO.

Here are some pictures taken during chinese new year 2009 :D

The above 4 pics were taken on Thursday while my psych girls went on a tour about singapore! Literally! We moved on from my house (first stop), choo ting's (woodlands), shujing's (boon lay) and jerrine's (lakeside). Visiting was so much fun! Played games like Cheat, Guitar Hero, mahjong and lastly had some heart to heart talk while drinking at jerrine's place :) It was so enjoyable!

These other few pics were taken when my beloved cousin Jessilyn came over to my sis's place for visiting. Notice in the last pic, my ugly looking fringe that's so short!
Ha the first pic is a pic of my little cousin, Li Zhi at her house during visiting. Her cheeks are so rosy!! Gotta catch up with her after her O lvls this year! Jia you!Love all of them to bits :D
