2nd Grade: A+ for Awesome!!

My big boy T-Y is officially done with 2nd grade!! Wow! Yay fo3rd grade already! The last couple of weeks of school were a lot of fun! I must say I think Ty had the best teacher in the entire school! Mr. Lasslo was awesome! He makes things fun and interesting for his students. He is full of energy and is a great example.

Mr. Lasslo helped every 2nd grade student make a box kite. They had a kite flying day and I was able to go and help Ty fly his kite.

The weather was beautiful but not perfect for flying a kite! There was barely a breeze! Ty did get his kite up a few times though! It was sure fun to watch a bunch of kids running around the field trying to fly their kites!

Ty actually had two field trip days in 2nd grade! The first day they walked from the school to the park. It was sure fun to have a play day with Ty and his classmates.

The park was so packed with children! I had never seen so many kids at one park before!

Caleb loved being with the big kids and all of Ty's class just loves Caleb! They call him 'mini Ty' every time they see him!

This is Mr. Lasslo! What a great teacher to play with his students and even go down the tube slide!! He is sure a fun teacher!

Ty playing hide-and-see with his friends!

Mara loved being at the park with her big brother and all his friends!

A full smile on that kid's face!

Caleb learned a new trick at the park--how to climb up the tires!

Ty with his two buddies: Aiden & Jaden!!

Ty's next field trip was actually an all day adventure to the fire station, the dinosaur museum, the park, and swimming pool!! What a FUN day!

We were able to join in the fun at the pool and meet Ty for the afternoon!

It was our first swimming day of the year! It wasn't too hot but the water felt good and was actually quite warm!

It was fun watching Ty play with his buddies at the pool!

Mara and CC had a fun swimming day together!

On Ty's last day of school we had a breakfast party for his class. We had an amazing feast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, milk!!! We watched a great slideshow that Mr. Lasslo made for each of his students.

Thank you Mr. Lasslo for a wonderful year in 2nd grade!! You sure helped Ty succeed!

A GREAT day for a hike!!

We had a fabulous day trip to Arches National Park! What made it even better was John, Tracie & Cedar and Grandma & Grandpa Lewis all came down to Price to spend a few days seeing our little town and hiking in the sunny red-rock country!

Ty was ready to take on the trails! He was an awesome hiker this trip!

Caleb prefers to ride on his dad's shoulders instead of riding in the backpack....that is when he is too tired! Usually he is running up the trail!

Our first hike was the world's famous (Utah's Favorite): Delicate Arch!

It was a hot day and the kids looked for any possible place to take a break in the shade.

Caleb is standing next to a rock tower he thought it was a pretty cool tower and wanted his picture taken by it!

Ty loved having Uncle John as a hiking buddy! Ty was determined to climb just as high, and as far as Johnny!

Here is the hiking crew! We made it!

What an amazing arch!

The  2.5 mile hike was well worth it!

What an amazing piece of art!  This is the kind of hike I enjoy: wonderful destinations!

After a 'windy' lunch break we set out for one more hike! This time it was just Ty and his mom and dad, and John, Tracie and Cedar!! Grandma and Grandpa headed back home with Mara and Caleb who were too tired!!

I love this place! Isn't Arches one of the coolest places ever?!

This might just be the most scenic (and probably only) belly shot I'll ever get!

10 years ago my hiking buddy and I came down to Arches for one of our first camping trips as a married couple!! Now look at us...now we have 3 more hiking buddies! Ty is an awesome hiker! He hiked over 6 miles total today!!

Silly Family Fun!!

Nate's brother John and his family flew home to Utah to see family and bless their new baby. It was sure fun spending time with John and Tracie and meeting our newest cousin baby Cedar! It was great to have all the Lewis's together for a few days playing and doing fun things.

Aunt Chelsie bought the kids silly string and we had a blast one night spraying silly string all over!

I don't think my kids have ever seen silly string before!

They thought it was fantasticly funny!!

Caleb needed a little help spraying his bottle! It sure made a mess but we got it all cleaned up!

I was told I needed to go look outside at something quite silly! When I got out there I found all three of my kids in this cage!! By the time I got my camera Mara had escaped but boy was I surprised to see these three children locked up!
Side note: Notice the gate on the left hand side leaning up against the wall. Caleb decided he would climb that gate to the top of the six foot brick wall! He then fell off on the other side scraping up his entire arm on the rose bush on the other side. No tears were shed, no cries of pain! He came in the house where the adults were visiting and calmly asked for a band-aid! We were all shocked that he did not break his arm, neck or head when he fell! What was he thinking?! And why didn't his big brother try to stop him?!

We all spent the day together at the new Museum of Natural History! Ty was especially excited about the dinosaurs!

The kids loved playing in the 'stream' or hands on water exhibit!

Caleb found a chalk board to draw on--nice picture buddy!

The museum was fascinating with sights above and below us. Caleb is standing on a glass floor with dinosaur bones below.

I wonder what this dinosaur loving kid is thinking about! Maybe about when he grows up to be a paleontologist! He told us many times that's what he wants to be when he grows up!!

Mara is checking out the microscopes! It was quite interesting to see the different things through the lens!

Mara and Caleb discovering the pit!

Mara and Garrett are basking in the sun enjoying the view of the beautiful Salt Lake City from the top of the Museum!

After we saw all we could see at the museum we headed to Liberty Park for a picnic lunch! Mara and her two girl cousins Sadie and Cedar!!

Soccer Season!

This Spring I was not only the 'Soccer-Mom' I was the 'Soccer-Coach-Mom'! It was a lot of fun coaching Mara's team!  This was Mara's first time playing soccer and my first time coaching soccer!  The first few practices and games were rough! I had five little preschoolers who didn't know how to play soccer! I thought all kids knew how to play! Mara was the only kid on my team who knew what she was doing! But with a little practice and help the other players by the end of the season got a little better!

Mara was so fun to watch! She is a very determined girl on and off the field! One night she really wanted to make a goal. So when she said the dinner prayer that night she prayed that she could make a goal! During the game she not only made one goal but THREE! She was so excited!

Ty also enjoyed the soccer season this spring! He is a great little soccer player! I wasn't able to watch him play as much this year since I was coaching Mara's team usually at the same time! But I sure do love watching this kid kick the ball and make goals!

At one of Ty's last games it was cold and windy! Ty wasn't really into his game and wasn't hustling or playing very hard. I told him I was not going to sit in the cold and watch him play soccer if he didn't play harder! I told him I wanted to see him dribble the ball all the way down the field and score!! Well my little pep-talk worked! He ran that field so hard and made FOUR goals! Way to go Ty!

Mara was not afraid to take the ball from anyone! She has had good practice while playing with Ty!

Ty cheering for his team!

Soccer is Ty's favorite sports! I'm glad he has so much fun playing!

And this little boy?! Well Caleb is a natural soccer player! He loved playing on Mara's team during practices! In one of the games there weren't enough kids to play so I let Caleb play! With a little help from his mama-coach he scored a goal! Way to go Caleb!

Mara is sure a great little soccer player!

It was a good experience for me to coach! The kids on my team were really cute and it was fun to be with Mara.

Mara always had a smile on her face while playing soccer! She's pretty tough too--one of the games she got smacked in the face with a ball! I gave her a quick kiss and pushed her back on the field! She was a trooper and didn't fuss or cry! Another time a boy head-butted her in the face. I thought he just pushed her down and I told her to 'rub it off!' When we got home she had a full-fledged black eye!

And the best part about soccer? The treats of course!! Caleb was a good sport during soccer season! Next fall he will get to play! I'm not sure if I'll coach again, but it was fun while it lasted!
