When one door closes...
Sunday, May 30, 2010
Hello friends! It feels like forever since I've been on here! First of I have been crazy busy! My oldest graduated from High School and we had family and friends over from out of town. I was going crazy trying to get the house ready for them, the party and for putting it on the market (yes, we are selling but we are not moving out of town) and while painting the boys room I fell off a ladder and
broke my foot!
So the doc tells me to rest and put my foot up - but with all that was going on you know I couldn't do that!
After the party we drove 8 1/2 hours each way to take our oldest to orientation/registration at college.
Sigh, my first born in college - this could be hard!
Meanwhile I have found that it is very difficult to keep my house totally clean so you can "show" it with five kids on summer break, a grandmother visiting and scrapbook!
But I have my priorities! LOL!
But enough about me!
This page is from the Anticipation kit at Scrapbooking From The Inside Out.
This theme is perfect for the changes going on right now. June marks one year as a designer for Scrapbooking From The Inside Out. I was kinda wondering what would happen next and to my surprize they have offered me a new position that is under wraps right now~ but very exciting!
Note the faux stained glass above the door!
This was so fun! I used a small circle form Clear Scraps.
I drew the pattern with Viva paint pens and filled in the "window" with alcohol inks.
I would definately do this look again...I just don't know what for yet! ;)
Here is the view with the door open.
And a close up of the journaling!

On a different topic I just want give a shout out to all my new peeps!!
"Hello! and Welcome!"
Now I do not pretend to be totally computer savvy but when I click on your beautiful pictures I can't always get a link to your blog so I can visit you! However if you leave me a comment I can track you down! LOL! Anyways I would love to check out your blogs so leave me a link! ;)
Have a wonderful day...or night wherever you are!

Don't you just love color? This month at
GCD Studios we were given this picture as an inspiriation...
This just makes me want to paint something! If you ever come over to my house you will never find any white walls! (ok maybe under the sinks!) So I was totally inspired to break out my inks and mists!
This was a plain piece of white cardstock when I started! I also inked the letters and the ribbon.
My hidden journal says:
I have seen this face many times, when you are aprehensive about something. What I love about you is that only need a little reassurance and you are quickly back to your happy self! You don't trust your own judgement yet, but you do trust the adults in your life to steer you in the right direction. You my dear are like the characters in the Wizard of OZ, Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion; you already have disernment, you just need someone to point it out to you!
In your own time you will blossom into an amazing young lady.
I had to give you a close up to this ink/misting/stamping/doodling! (SO fun!) I actually cut out the large butterfly from a Artsy Urban paper by Melody Ross and used it as a mask/stencil. The bird, butterfly, scroll, borders and brad are all from the Artsy Urban collection at GCD Studios!
Did you notice the very cool sparkly effect on the birdie border and the butterfly? Isn't it awesome that it comes that way? All I have to do is adhere it!
TFL!!!

Play! and a tutorial.. May 16
Sunday, May 16, 2010
Don't you love when a layout just comes together quickly? It's starts by having really fun papers - of course it's GCD Studious! It also helps when you have a super cute model and baby girl is always good for a shot!
These are from the new line Zippity Collection! The main paper is called Big Flower. The embellishments are from the Artsy Urban Collection by Melody Ross. ( Oh yeah, buttons, flowers, borders - all Artsy Urban!)
The only things that are not GCD Studios on this layout are the chipboard letters by Heidi Swapp and the jute. Did you notice the arrow and the circle sewn on the layout? I had to do a little accent because I get such a kick out of how silly baby girl is- I mean kids will play anywhere and make anything fun!
Love, love, love these little flowers, had to give you one last look!
***
Now for a tutorial!!
Ok ladies! dust off you embossing guns! We are going to make tiles!
I 'm making mine out of packing - it's a little sturdier than paper...
I cut them inot 1 1/2 squares but you can make them what ever size you'd like!
Because I am using packaging - it soaks up the ink really quick so I used this liquid clear embossing ink - it stays wet longer and is thicker coverage than using a stamp pad.
I dipped it in Utee ultra thick embossing powder, heated it with my gun and reapeated this step with blue and gold embossing powder.
Once I got the color I liked I dipped it in the Utee and heated it again until the tile was quite thick! I even added a flower in one!
And here is the result...
And what I did with it! I used the technique on the letters! Imagine the possibilities!
The backgraound was painted with Gesso and sprayed with Smooch. And the cute lil' heart?
GCD Studios of course!
Thanks for looking!

Anticipation...SFTIO Blog Hop!
Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Hi Everyone! If you are looking for the
Scrapbooking From The Inside Out blog hop here it is! Welcome! If you did not start from the beginning and want to participate hop on over to
Nancy's blog and from there each person will give you the next link. You comment on each persons blog (each comment is another chance to win) and when you are finished you must comment on the
Scrapbooking From The Inside Out Blog. Which also happens to be the next link in this blog hop!!
If you are not familiar with Scrapbooking from the Inside Out it is a kit club and so much more. Each month, we'll focus on a specific emotion. The monthly kit for sale will be geared toward products that can be used to explore what that emotion means to you, in your life.
You'll be able to access an 'inspiration' page each month with links to stuff that will make you think, help you explore and stir you to express yourself on the scrapbook page like never before.
This month's theme is Anticipation...
This is my oldest and my youngest. My oldest is graduating high school in ONE WEEK! :0!
She is going away to college :(
She is a smart girl and I do anticipate amazing things coming her way! So of course she makes a perfect topic for this months theme!
Sometimes the journaling is right in the page, sometimes it's hidden and sometimes there is hidden meaning right on the page. Here you can see I cut out scroll and extended it off the page- she is venturing into new worlds outside of home. Home is the square, solid, safe and strong. Baby girl is there, representing family and the bonds that we share. Lots of bling & sparkle - all things new and exciting. Also it is fitting that I used the color purple, the color of royalty- after all she is a princess, they both are.The black is for things unknown, not a bad thing, just in the dark right now for what the future holds.
If you find this interesting you might want to try for the DT call they are having at
Scrapboooking From The Inside Out. I have been on the team for a year and have loved all the themes and the way I scrap has changed ( in a good way) because of it!
Thanks for stopping by and dont forget to go check in with Rachel at
SFTIO blog.
You coud win this months kit!!!
Anticipation! Good luck!

Happy Mothers Day!
Sunday, May 9, 2010
Welcome back! Here is the rest of the Mothers Day Mini Album made for MOM!
I did not do alot of journaling but I did include a pic of me (her firstborn) and all of her grandchildren. It is because of her I am the mother I am today so I found it fitting that her grandchildren should be in the book.
If you were visiting me during
Clear Scraps blog hop (
previous post) and you left me a comment you should leave me another one today and you have a chance to win a RAK from me!
"leave me a comment here and on Sunday and I will give away a RAK to a lucky winner!"
Here am I with our youngest, "Baby Girl".
I used rub ons on the acrylic, and stuck a chipboard flower on top. ( This is the Miss Molly chip and acrylic kit at Clear Scraps.)
I covered the chipboard page with Glitz paper and added another chipboard flower that I painted and Stickled.
My oldest, ready to graduate, ahh they grow up so fast!
The bird is a rub on, the frame, flower and leaves are chipboard from the kit too.
Close up without the acrylic page.
My oldest son - who is so hard to get in a picture! He conviniently disappears when I get out my camera!
BOYS!
The page without the acrylic.
And last but not least my little boys, I love that picture!
So leave me a comment today(Sunday) and tommorrow I will do a drawing
Happy Mothers Day!!!
