LESSology Challenge #28: Creative inspiration of Linda Lapotka

 photo Challenge-28-Open-that-bottle-design-team-projects_zps1ba4b6c4.jpg

How about another creative inspiration on using those bottle caps? Let's check out Linda Lapotka's take on LESSology Challenge #28: Open that bottle! :)

I am so excited about this challenge! I love using bottle caps. I made some centers for flowers and then I made a charm. It was so much fun.

The bottle cap for the flower was filled with sequins and Glossy Accents.

The bottle cap for the charm was filled with a clock face, gears, springs and a pen nib.

Here is the finished charm.
Now for the video!

Our sponsor for this month's challenge is My Mind's Eye. The winner for this challenge gets the 12x12 Kate & Co. Cambridge Court paper pack. :)

Bottle caps are so much fun and there are so many things you can do with them. So get busy and link up your creations.

Been smashing, painting, and in general messing around with bottle caps for a month.

Various kinds of caps too. All for our newest challenge here at LESSology! What part of free embellishment isn't a good thing!? Not to mention the recycling aspect!

The caps I used on my layout here are smashed in my Bigshot and colored up a bit with some Ranger Silver, Sail Boat Blue, and Watermelon Alcohol inks. If you have never played around with these before, it's a bit magical. They stick very nicely to metal. I just dripped them on and let them blend together. You have to embrace the imperfections of the cap with the ridges and blending of the inks.

I also colored a brass embellishment with the same silver. Punched a hole through the cap and added a brad.

Playing with bottle caps & alcohol ink was a bit addicting! I also made embellishments for some metal clips I found on the clearance rack!

Here is what they looked like originally!

Here is a close up of the clips and also a fridge magnet I made with a larger sized bottle cap from Maya Road. The inner gold circle is a cap from a jar of mushrooms! Made a perfect insert to add some vintage pearls off an old necklace, glitter and some dimensional modge podge over top of a German sticker. These were all painted with the Ranger Patinas which are very similar (just thicker) than the alcohol inks. They also stick nicely to metal.

Along the same lines of bottle caps, bread twists are also easy to fancy up!

I used some metal tape on these twists that was embossed and then added alcohol ink & ribbon. Tied a little alcohol ink dyed charm at the end of the ribbon!

Hope you enjoy this month's challenge, I know I did!

Those are some awesome ways to jazz up your bottle caps...way to go Mitra! Are you ready to show us what you can do with your bottle caps? Come join in the fun with LESSology Challenge #28: Open that bottle! :)

Julie Tucker-Wolek photo Design-team-member-Julie.gif

Hi everyone! Julie here sharing my take on our challenge this month using bottle caps!

I had these old wood blocks that I found at an antique store :)

I covered them in Glitz Design papers and then glued them together to make a photo block :)

I had a large bottle cap from Maya Road and painted the edges a bronze color to match my papers and the antique feel of the blocks :)

I  then poked a hole through the bottle cap and added a wire that I twisted into a swirl pattern to hold a photo :)

I glued it all onto the top of the blocks :)

Can't wait to see what you create for this challenge :)  ~~Julie

 photo Challenge-28-Open-that-bottle-design-team-projects_zps1ba4b6c4.jpg

Ready to check out how our design team rocked LESSology Challenge #28: Open that bottle! ? Let's see what Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam have concocted for us! *winks*

Kirsty Vittetoe

I must be nocturnal because I love the night more than the day and love the moon more than the sun. Especially PURPLR MOON. So I kind of decided the day when I got this bottle cap, I want ONE on my project.

so you can see, everything else happened after the PURPLE MOON, like the night sky (with gesso, watercolor and mist) and the stars

and then the little old town

at night, of course

next is to find something so I could hang this by the window

and dream...... under the PURPLE MOON

Hello there! It's Yvonne here to share my creative project for this month.

I found this really old tin in my stash and thought it would be cool to give it a little makeover...*winks*

I decided to just decorate the lid....patterned paper and lace..and I embellished my bottle cap with some mica flakes and beads.

Now I have a charming little vintage tin box. :)

There you have it, 2 different ways to get creative with bottle caps! We would love for you to show us your creative take on LESSology Challenge #28: Open that bottle!
